Chapter 218 Darling, Can I Give You a Gift?
"Hurry up!"
Oliver did not even look at the items, clearly expressing his dislike for the fresh produce section. Despite this, he continued to follow Natalie.
Natalie, wearing plastic gloves, picked up a tray of chicken wings. During this process, someone accidentally bumped into her, causing the tray to begin sliding off the counter.
Oliver swiftly reached out with one hand, pulling it closer, while simultaneously pushing the shopping cart behind Natalie.
Jamie stood in amazement. Had he truly just seen Oliver pushing a supermarket cart? The sight was beyond belief!
As Natalie continued shopping, she gradually became aware that Oliver had been pushing the shopping cart alongside her the entire time. Although half of his face was concealed by a hat, it did nothing to hide his remarkable charisma. This mix of concealment and exposure only served to make him more striking and captivating.
Wearing a formal shirt, Oliver pushed the cart through the aisles of the supermarket without any sense of mismatch. Instead, his presence radiated a profound sense of warmth, evoking the comforting feeling of home.
Natalie felt a rush of warmth flood her heart, softening it. Suddenly, she found herself appreciating this slice of life, which seemed beautifully surreal.
"What are you looking at?" Oliver noticed Natalie's gaze fixed on him.
Natalie smiled. "Oliver, is this your first time shopping in a supermarket?"
Oliver responded with a snort.
Natalie quickly completed her shopping. When they neared the personal care section, she paused.
"Please wait for me here, I will be right back!"
Oliver frowned. The thought of Natalie being out of his sight was unsettling to him. He wished to keep her within his view at all times.
Natalie was disappointed to find her preferred brand of sanitary pads placed on the top shelf, making it hard to reach.
"Which one do you need?"
Suddenly, a voice came from behind her.
"The nighttime one," Natalie answered quietly, her awkwardness palpable, "Thank you."
Looking up, she saw Oliver effortlessly retrieving the item from the top shelf, holding it in his large hand. He asked, "This one?"
"Yes," Natalie nodded, reaching out for it.
However, Oliver did not immediately hand it over. Instead, he examined the packaging, his curiosity piqued. "What is so special about this product? Why are there so many varieties?"
"Do you really need to ask such personal questions so earnestly, even in public?" Natalie was taken aback.
Jamie and the other bodyguards maintained their distance, but Natalie could feel her cheeks warming up. Was it not said that men would refrain from handling women's sanitary products in public?
"Hmm?" Oliver, not receiving a response, prompted her again.
After a brief hesitation, Natalie reluctantly explained the different types and purposes of various popular brands, including regular, day-use, night-use, and ultra-thin pads.
Oliver's gaze briefly fell on Natalie's lower abdomen.
Natalie instinctively covered her stomach, admonishing, "Don’t look at me like that!"
"What nonsense are you thinking?” Oliver asked playfully. Then, he asked, “Do you need these today?”
"No, I’m merely stocking up for the future since I have run out," Natalie replied naturally. Then, she noticed a look of satisfaction in Oliver's eyes, realizing the meaning behind his question.
Natalie quickly chose what she needed while Oliver took note of the brands and specifications for future reference.
They encountered a queue at the checkout, but Oliver lacked the patience to wait. He handed the shopping cart to Jamie, instructing him to handle the payment and arrange for the items to be delivered to the Rosewood Estate.
There was a department store not far from the supermarket.
Natalie wished to buy some late autumn and early winter clothing for Lucas. She looked at Oliver from the corners of her eye, before she smiled and asked, “Do you want a gift? I returned from Milan in a rush, so I didn’t manage to buy you anything. Shall we visit the department store?"
Not far from the supermarket, there was a department store.
Oliver's eyes narrowed. His expression turned frosty as he asked her, “What do you want to buy for your brother?”
‘How did he guess it so quickly?’
Natalie responded with a playful eye roll, “I want to buy you a gift as well.”
Oliver gently raised her chin and said, “I want you. That’s the best gift you can give me!”
…
Despite his reluctance, Oliver accompanied Natalie to the department store.
Natalie had long planned to buy Lucas some clothing. Lucas was handsome, and everything suited him well. Now in university, he was less particular about his attire compared to his high school days. Nonetheless, Natalie preferred to buy more expensive clothing for him.
Her bank card had a limited balance, but her recent salary advance from the company meant she was not constrained by a tight budget.
As she shopped, Natalie kept an eye on her account balance and entered a store specializing in men's clothing.
"Do you want another pair of cufflinks or a tie? What do you think?”
Her account still had a considerable sum of money, sufficient for a decent tie or cufflinks. The idea of buying expensive clothing for Oliver was dismissed by Natalie, fearing it might subject him to ridicule among his peers.
Oliver, astute as ever, easily deduced her thoughts.
Brand names held little importance to him. His preference for luxury brands stemmed from his familiarity with the materials and designs of certain brands. With ample wealth and influence at his disposal, he never compromised on his lifestyle.
Unexpectedly, his wife was frugal and hesitant to spend his money. She was determined to use her money to buy things for him.
"I have something else in mind," Oliver suddenly said with a playful smile that added to his charm and allure.
"What is it?" Natalie asked, willing to oblige as long as the cost was within her means. She doubted he would make an inappropriate request in such a public venue.
Oliver took Natalie's hand, leading her forward after leaving her purchases intended with a bodyguard.
Observing their intertwined hands, Natalie noted the contrast. Her hands were slender and soft, while his were firm and warm, a stark difference from his usually cold demeanor.
"Choose one for me," Oliver suggested, nodding toward a section.
They were in a Burberry store, and Oliver had just gestured at the underwear section.
Natalie instinctively stepped back, but Oliver's firm grip on her waist prevented her retreat.
"Choose what you think looks good," he whispered enticingly into her ear, his voice laden with seductive ambiguity.
