Chapter 355 Natalie, You Never Have to Thank Me
Seeing Natalie's silence, Susan persisted in asking, “Don’t you believe me?”
Natalie gazed into Susan's face, noticing its resemblance to her own, and did not say anything. It was hard for her to believe Susan.
However, if Susan truly intended to replace Oliver as his wife, there seemed to be no reason for Susan to protect her. Why would anyone risk their life after all?
Fortunately, the knife wound was only to her leg. If fortune had not been on her side, it might have struck vital organs like the spleen or the heart, potentially placing her in critical condition within half an hour.
Natalie could not have known that this act was part of Hailey's scheme; Hailey had deliberately inflicted a non-lethal wound on Susan. The injury to the skin and flesh was meant to provoke guilt in Natalie, offering Susan an added chance to interfere with Natalie and Oliver's relationship. This would make the play more interesting.
Casey acted swiftly, and soon, the production team along with the medical personnel arrived with a stretcher to transport Susan back to the hotel.
"Casey, go and find Hailey," Natalie said, "Bring someone with you to be safe."
"Okay," Casey replied.
Upon receiving the news, Jane rushed to the scene, relieved to find Natalie safe. As for Susan, she did not care at all.
"Natalie, what happened?" Jane asked as she and Natalie lagged behind the group.
Jane was still grappling with fear as Natalie recounted the entire episode to her.
"You...you’re not Robert's daughter!" Jane was astonished.
If Natalie was not a member of the Watson family, what did Natalie suffer so long for?
"Yes," Natalie replied, her head lowered in sorrow. She had managed to maintain composure in front of Hailey, but now her mind was in a mess.
She thought, ‘Whose daughter am I? Who are my parents? How did Hailey find out about this?’
These were mysteries yet to be solved.
The revelation came unexpectedly.
Jane consoled Natalie briefly before suggesting, "For now, let’s not dwell on this matter. When we return, let’s do a paternity test to confirm everything."
"Okay."
Above, the sound of helicopter blades cutting through the air grew louder.
As the helicopter approached, the storm intensified.
Upon landing, the helicopter door swung open, and a team of medical staff hurried out. They quickly assessed Susan, who had lost consciousness, and immediately arranged for her transfer to the helicopter.
"They arrived so quickly!" Natalie felt a wave of relief wash over her.
"Wait!" Roger emerged from the helicopter. Catching sight of the figure on the stretcher, he did not conceal his disgust. He did not come to rescue this person.
“Roger?”
‘I thought these people were sent by Oliver?’
Roger had assumed Natalie was the one who had been injured and had hurried over. He approached her and examined her closely. His eyes lingered on the bloodstains marking her clothes, and he frowned.
“Roger, I’m fine,” Natalie said, staring at Roger as she pleaded, “Can you please Susan? I beg you.”
Without her intervention, Roger might have chosen to do nothing.
Roger observed Natalie for a moment, his gaze hesitant and contemplative. After a brief pause, he disdainfully glanced at the person on the stretcher and then motioned to the medical team to transport her onto the helicopter.
Roger stayed behind and ordered someone to send another helicopter over. He did not want to be in close proximity to Susan.
"Thank you so much, Roger!” Natalie felt a profound sense of relief, aware that if something happened to Susan due to her, the guilt would haunt her for life.
"Natalie, you never have to thank me," Roger said gently.
