Chapter 1167 Your Wish

Jane didn't take the cake and just tilted her head, eyeing Anthony.

Her feelings for him had mellowed. She didn't dislike him anymore, but the old crush was gone too.

It was a fresh start.

Jane accepted Anthony's explanation.

"What was Calvin saying to you?" Anthony asked.

He always suspected Calvin had a thing for Jane.

Even though Calvin wasn't a real threat, Anthony didn't like other guys around her.

"So, what did Mr. Griffin and his granddaughter say to you?" Jane shot back, raising an eyebrow.

She was always straightforward, never hesitating to ask what was on her mind. Someone once called her the rose of Paykston—beautiful and vibrant, but with thorns; noble and cold, yet passionate.

"Are you jealous?" Anthony asked, a smile in his eyes.

Jane rolled her eyes. "You wish."

They weren't dating, so why would she be jealous? She was just curious.

Anthony felt a bit let down by her response.

"Do you want the truth or something that'll make you happy?" he asked.

"Anthony, whether you tell the truth or not doesn't affect my happiness," Jane said confidently.

Anthony chuckled, glancing at her 4-inch stiletto diamond heels. He pulled her to a corner and made her sit down.

"Aren't those heels killing you?" he asked, wanting to massage her ankle but holding back since they were at a party.

"You wouldn't get it!" Jane snapped. He didn't understand a woman's love for beauty. Feet could hurt, but high heels were a must!

Anthony looked at her with a mix of helplessness and affection. To him, Jane was always the most beautiful, heels or no heels.

He went back to the previous topic. "Ms. Griffin said her thesis is on new energy batteries, which ties into our company's research. She wanted to consult us."

Jane found it boring. "If Mr. Griffin wanted to introduce you two, he didn't need so many excuses."

There were other companies in Moaliadoing new energy research, not just Clark Group. Windsor Group was doing well too. If she really needed help, she didn't have to go this far.

It was all about Anthony.

Anthony's usually stoic face broke into a smile at Jane's words.

Jane frowned. "What are you laughing at? Me?"

Anthony's smile widened. "Yes."

He praised her, "Ms. Watkins, you have every right to say that."

Anthony couldn't help but think of Jane's past.

Other girls at seventeen or eighteen were shy, afraid of their feelings being discovered.

But not Jane.

When she liked Anthony, she stood in front of him and said, "Anthony, I like you! Can you be my boyfriend?"

She added, "If you don't want to, it's okay. I'll chase you! I'm smart and beautiful, you'll definitely fall for me!"

She'd say, "Anthony, don't you like me yet? Why are you so hard to get? Do you know three boys confessed to me today? And Jovan thinks one of them is quite good."

And, "Anthony, if you don't accept me soon, I'm going to run away!"

Every word, every smile of hers seemed so vivid.

Anthony had never told anyone that when Jane confessed, it felt like a dream, which is so beautiful.

Jane was the girl he adored, and he had a place in her heart.

So what if Jane was the daughter of his father's killer? He still wanted to protect her.

He greedily hoped she'd stay around, saying over and over, "Anthony, I like you."
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
