Chapter 759 I Thought They Were Dirty!

"What do you want to say?" Jane interrupted him, saying, "Anthony, are you surprised to hear me say this? What are you surprised about? Isn't my current situation caused by you?"

She was right. It was all his doing.

However, if Anthony had the chance to choose again, he would still make the same choice to destroy the Watkins family. It was a family feud; he had to seek revenge.

Anthony thought back to that night five years ago when Jovan had an accident; they were drinking together that night.

At that time, Jovan had said, "If I were you, I'd seek revenge too. After all, your father was a good father. However, if you have grudges, take it out on me, don't hurt others."

Anthony had replied, "Okay."

They had reached an agreement. Since conflicts were inevitable between them, he would minimize the harm to Jane.

But now? It seemed like Jane had to bear all the consequences.

"Let me go," Jane took a deep breath before she said, "Anthony, today is your engagement day. It's better if you don't entangle with me. You and your mom invited me here to witness your happy and glorious moment, so please go and prepare for it. I feel disgusted being here for even a second longer!"

When Jane heard Jane say that he and Ann invited her here, Anthony was slightly taken aback. He thought to himself, 'So she thinks I invited her here as well?'

Anthony had gone to Moalia recently. When he returned, Ann had already taken care of everything. He only found out this morning that Jane would come.

"Jane, my mom invited you, so you came. Since when have you been this obedient?"

"I came to see what kind of bride my ex-boyfriend is marrying! I've met Ms. Dewar before; she's the same woman I saw last time. She's nice. She's great!"

Jane kept praising Aurora. She laughed angrily before she continued, "Anthony, you are already with her, and yet you still want to get back together with me? Who do you think I am? Do you think I'm a hooker? Let me go! Let me go!"

She grew increasingly agitated as she spoke. She had compromised with Anthony a few times before because she did not know he already had a girlfriend, let alone planning to get engaged to her! He was already with Aurora, and yet he still came to her, making her the unwitting 'third party'. She could not help but wonder, 'Am I such a shameless person in his eyes?'

No matter how arrogant or lacking in morals she was, she would not sabotage someone else's relationship!

"Anthony, you…"

Jane's body was turned around, and her struggles and voice were stopped by a kiss. She stood still, feeling overwhelmed by Anthony's forceful kiss.

"What do you want, Anthony?" Jane asked. She tried her best to control her emotions, knowing that losing control of her emotions was a sign of weakness.

"Jane, I didn't wear my suit. I didn't bother dressing up. I put in a lot of effort to find you. What do you think I want?"

Anthony believed his intentions were clear. Jane was intelligent; why did she not understand him?

Even before this moment, Anthony had never made his intentions so obvious. By not changing his clothes, he was rejecting the engagement. By not canceling the engagement temporarily, he was making an effort to see Jane. He wanted Jane to understand that he would not get engaged with another woman, but she seemed oblivious.

Jane tightly closed her eyes, too angry to think clearly. She did not want to think at all.

"How would I know what you want?" Jane laughed sarcastically as she said, "If I knew what you wanted, my brother wouldn't have almost died because of you five years ago. He's still in a coma overseas!"

Once her anger erupted, it could not be quelled.

Jane's mind was consumed by what Ann had just said. She recalled Ann's arrogant demeanor and contemptuous gaze as she said that Jovan was a worthless person awaiting death.

As though she had heard something ridiculous, she said, "Anthony, your mother just told me I'm not worthy of you."

She continued without skipping a beat, "Jovan raised me and loved me for eighteen years. I believe there's no one I'm not worthy of. It's you, the soon-to-be-married man, who's not worthy of me! Now, please remove your hands from me. I find them repulsive!"

Anthony stared at Jane intently. He had not expected Ann to say such hurtful things to Jane. He knew Ann disliked Jane, but he had never anticipated that Jane would have to endure such humiliation. However, he thought rationally that it was inevitable.

He remained calm as he replied, "These hands of mine have only touched you; they're not dirty."

Jane said, "Your mother said so many senseless words earlier, but I didn't curse at her. It's not because I feel guilty or because I respect my elders; it’s because I pitied that baby who died, due to the old conflicts between our families."

When the Clark family was in trouble, Ann had just given birth to a daughter. Sometime during the ordeal, the baby tragically passed away. Ann was naturally devastated and neglected her health as a result. She also nearly succumbed to suicide due to postpartum depression.

This was also why Jane yielded to Ann as much as she could.

Ann had lost her daughter and the ability to have more children, which plunged her into depression. Any woman who endured such tragedies could easily elicit sympathy and empathy from others, even if it was Ann who had humiliated Jane.

Jane sometimes wished she lacked a moral compass, so she could live a carefree life.

"The debts incurred by my father should be repaid by his children. I accept responsibility for everything you've done. Initially, Jovan warned me that you were scheming and complicated, not suitable for me. He advised me against being with you. I was stubborn and disregarded his advice, providing you the opportunity to seek revenge on my family. As such, I'm also responsible for what has happened. I don't want to delve into the matter with Jovan. But ultimately, it was my father’s actions that caused such great harm to the Watkins family. It has nothing to do with me. Jovan, I beg you to spare me. Let’s end it like this!"

"Jane, don't forget, you approached me first," Anthony retorted, feeling angry when he heard Jane's wish to end their relationship, "You were the one who decided we should be together. You were the one who decided to end our relationship. Do you think I'm your boy toy?"

"Boy toys are more obedient than you," Jane responded, "I should have found myself a boy toy in the past. They’re handsome and obedient. I was truly foolish."

"Say that again," Anthony said, his voice turning cold. He held Jane's waist with one hand and grasped her chin with the other, forcing her to look at him.

Jane was not as wise as Natalie in recognizing what was good for her. She said again, "I said I was foolish back then and that I should have found myself a boy toy!"
