Chapter 1111 As Long As You're Safe, I'll Agree to Anything
Jane smiled, and she whispered in a voice only she and Aurora could hear, "Aurora, you're no stranger to certain tactics, are you?"
"What?" Aurora was a bit taken aback, but seeing Jane approach her, she instinctively resisted.
In her panic, she even pushed Jane with her hand.
Her hand touched Jane, and she saw the smile on Jane's face grow even more intense. Before she could pull her hand back, she saw Jane's body fall backward.
There was the sound of flesh hitting the wooden floor.
"Ms. Watkins!" Sadie, who had been watching upstairs, immediately noticed something was wrong and screamed in horror, rushing over.
The others hadn't reacted yet.
In the blink of an eye, Jane tumbled down the stairs, her pregnant belly hitting the edges of the steps repeatedly, finally crashing to the ground.
Bright red blood spread from her thigh, soaking the entire carpet.
The strong smell of blood filled the living room.
Ann's face turned pale as she stared in shock at Aurora at the top of the stairs.
Aurora stood there equally shocked.
"Ms. Watkins!" Sadie immediately lifted Jane, who had already passed out. She frantically shouted at the maid beside her, "What are you standing there for? Call an ambulance!"
"Yes!" the servant quickly answered.
"Notify Mr. Clark immediately!" Sadie instructed.
"Yes!"
The whole room seemed to wake up from a nightmare, and for a moment, everyone was running around in confusion, not knowing what to do.
When Aurora had an accident, no one was so terrified.
They could already imagine how furious Anthony would be when he found out.
Sadie held Jane in her arms, looking up at Aurora at the top of the stairs.
At that moment, Aurora felt the bone-chilling coldness in Sadie's eyes, as if she were looking at a heinous criminal about to be sentenced to death.
"Aurora, you..." Ann's lips were trembling as she spoke.
"It wasn't me," Aurora snapped out of it, shaking her head repeatedly, her hands waving frantically, "I didn't do it! It wasn't me! She fell on her own! Jane fell on her own! It has nothing to do with me!"
Aurora remembered the last thing Jane said to her before falling. "Do you know the idiom, 'an eye for an eye'?"
Jane did it on purpose; she did it on purpose! Jane used the same trick Aurora had used on her!
Aurora rushed to Jane, but Sadie sternly ordered, "Stop her!"
The bodyguards immediately blocked Aurora a meter away.
"Jane, stop pretending to be dead! Wake up and tell them I didn't push you!" Aurora cried out, almost in despair.
She had already used drugs to set up Jane; Jane couldn't possibly give birth to a healthy child, so how could she use such a method?
"Jane, it's you! You know you can't give birth to a healthy child, so you set me up and blamed it on me, didn't you?" Aurora screamed hysterically, trying to grab Jane, but the bodyguards held her firmly.
"Aurora!" Ann looked at Aurora in horror, "How do you know Jane can't give birth to a healthy child?"
"I, I..."
"Shut up!" Ann screamed.
Before Aurora could defend herself, rapid footsteps came from the direction of the door.
Anthony rushed in, seeing Jane lying unconsciously in Sadie's arms with a pale face, a pool of blood still flowing from her thigh.
His eyes turned red.
"Mr. Clark...Jovan..." In a coma, Jane whispered their names.
"Where's the ambulance? Why isn't the ambulance here yet?" Anthony shouted in a frenzy, cradling Jane in his arms and quickly walking out. "Hold her down!"
Clint understood that "her" referred to Aurora, nodded solemnly, and thought, 'She's over.'
"Clint! Clint, it wasn't me, really, I didn't push Jane, I couldn't be that stupid!" Aurora immediately explained to Clint.
Clint's face was expressionless and cold. "Ms. Dewar, it doesn't matter how many times you tell me."
"Believe me, I really didn't!" she continued yelling.
"It doesn't matter if I believe you; you have to explain it to Mr. Clark." Clint paused, looking down at her with undisguised disgust. "I don't believe you either."
Anthony had been at the company for over an hour, worried about the situation at home, and had rushed back, hearing the bad news on the way.
The ambulance arrived quickly and lifted Jane onto a stretcher.
"Are you the pregnant woman's family?" the nurse asked Anthony.
"Yes."
"Are you her husband?"
"Yes." Future husband.
"Get in the car quickly," the nurse said.
The doctors and nurses conducted a preliminary examination and emergency treatment in the ambulance.
The nurse asked Anthony about the situation. "How did she get injured?"
Anthony sat in the corner of the ambulance, only able to see Jane on the stretcher through the white coats of the doctors and nurses. Holding back his pain, he said, "She fell down the stairs."
This was what Anthony had heard from the servants on his way back.
The nurse sighed; it was really careless. She asked Anthony a few more questions.
The ambulance siren wailed all the way, leaving Anthony's heart numb with pain.
"How is my wife?" he asked.
The same nurse replied, "The initial situation doesn't look good. The baby is only a little over five months old; if we take it out, it won't survive. We'll try to save it, but..."
But they both knew what that meant.
Falling down the stairs and landing on her belly, the baby most likely wouldn't make it.
"It doesn't matter, as long as Jane is safe." Anthony's body was tense, his heart trembling as he spoke, "Jane must be safe, no matter the cost, she must be safe."
When there was a moment, Anthony held Jane's hand, looking at her haggard face on the stretcher, as if she would never wake up.
He said, "Jane, you must be safe. I'll agree to anything you want. Jane, do you hear me? As long as you're safe, I'll agree to anything."
