Chapter 871 Keep for Daughter's Use

"Roger, I'm married now, and I'm pregnant. In just over two months, Oliver and my baby will be born. You shouldn't give me that bracelet!" Natalie felt both self-reproach and powerlessness as she said, "By doing this, you'll make the original Roger very embarrassed."

'Embarrassed? That coward wouldn't be embarrassed. The original Roger would only secretly rejoice! If I didn't know that the original Roger still held a significant place in Natalie's heart, I would have exposed his true face! Forget it…' he thought to himself.

"It's just a bracelet, take it," Roger said.

Natalie frowned."That bracelet is an heirloom from the Southern Palace, right?"

Roger fell silent for a few seconds. During those seconds, Natalie's guess was confirmed.

"Roger, I'm Oliver's wife. I can't have anything to do with you, or with the original Roger. Even if one day Oliver and I divorce, I still can't be with you," Natalie took a deep breath and said, "That bracelet doesn't belong with me, do you understand? Give me an address, and I'll have someone return it to you."

"I don't understand."

Even just by listening to his voice, Natalie could sense Roger's refusal to communicate. He did not understand, and he did not want to understand.

"The things I give away will never be taken back," Roger said calmly, "If you don't like it, just throw it away."

If someone else had forcefully given a gift like this, Natalie could have easily found their address and returned it. But Roger was different. Firstly, Roger had a special status, and his address was definitely not something one could easily find. If Roger wanted to hide, he would be untraceable. Secondly, if she wanted to investigate, she would have to use Oliver's power, but then Oliver would find out.

Natalie was well aware of how wary Oliver was of Roger. As she thought about this, her gaze inadvertently fell on the ginkgo tree in the small garden, and she suddenly paused.

Oliver was wearing a shirt and trousers, with a suit jacket draped over his arm, and looking up at her on the second floor. His brows were slightly furrowed, looking displeased.

Natalie quickly remembered something: Oliver knew how to read lips!

"By the way," Roger said again, "How many months is the baby? When is the due date?"

Roger could have easily checked this information himself, but he did not. Instead, he asked Natalie, demonstrating respect toward her.

"The due date is early next month."

"Alright. I wish you a safe delivery."

Oliver had been quietly observing from downstairs all along, only entering the main building after Natalie ended the call.

She returned to her room, subconsciously thinking of asking Liam to store away the two gifts, but it was too late. This thought flashed through her mind, but she chuckled to herself and thought, 'It's not really something to hide, is it?'

"What's so funny?"

Oliver's steps quickened, and as soon as he entered the room, he saw Natalie sitting on the sofa, still smiling, which soured his mood instantly.

"Enjoying your chat with Roger?"

Natalie looked up at him. "So you know what I said?"

"What do you think?" Oliver approached, placing his hands on the armrests of the single sofa, enveloping Natalie in his arms with a hint of ambiguity and danger.

Natalie suddenly became bold, placing her hands on Oliver’s cheeks and pinching them lightly.

Oliver froze for a fleeting moment.

"I think you don't know anything," Natalie said deliberately. She did not feel guilty. After all, she had no thoughts of divorcing Oliver. If he truly knew what she said, he should be happy.

"What did Roger say to you?" Oliver absentmindedly played with Natalie's earlobe, which was one of her most sensitive spots.

Natalie could not help but shrink back. "Roger sent a gift that I found too precious, and I want him to take it back."

"What did he send?" Oliver continued to touch Natalie’s earlobe, which was soft and tender, much to his delight.

"Hey! Stop touching my ear!" Natalie frowned, swatting Oliver's hand away. "He sent a jade bracelet which is of good quality, so I wanted to return it."

As for the ink bottle and pen, they were clearly gifts intended for the child, carrying no inappropriate implications. They were blessings for the child.

"A jade bracelet?" Oliver recalled. When he entered the room earlier, he had noticed many gifts in the living room. He tried to remember the jade bracelet.

'Ah, there was indeed such an item, placed on the table.'

Initially, Oliver thought someone had sent it to build a good relationship with him. As it turned out, it was meant for his wife! To put it bluntly, that bracelet was like a token of affection.

"Don't return it," Oliver said coolly, "Keep it for our daughter in the future."

He was as domineering as usual.

After a shower, Oliver went downstairs to inspect the gifts with Liam for a while. He picked a few he liked and placed them in his personal collection, storing the rest in the warehouse for future use. He still harbored great animosity toward Roger, but Natalie's honesty and undeniable love for him were the best soothing agents, causing him to suppress all his jealousy and anger. If Natalie had concealed this matter, the discovery of any deceit would have shattered his trust completely.

Meanwhile, Natalie opened her browser, attempting to search for information on dissociative identity disorder, but such cases were too rare, and many were classified as confidential research documents, not disclosed to the public.

After searching for hours, she did not gain a comprehensive understanding of the treatment methods and outcomes of this mental illness. Overall, human society remained in an exploratory stage regarding this condition. Patients with this type of disorder typically faced two outcomes: either the primary and secondary personalities coexisted peacefully, or one of them eliminated the other, or even multiple personalities. The secondary personality often emerged due to the influence of the primary personality, but most primary and secondary personalities could not coexist peacefully because they possessed different thoughts and values.

As Natalie entered the late stage of her pregnancy, she truly began to feel the discomforts associated with it. Turning over at night became a struggle, her body was swollen, and her figure resembled a blown-up balloon. Natalie, who was strict about managing her figure, could not bear to look in the mirror for even a minute.

Jane, who had never seen a pregnant person before, was very curious about the swelling when she visited Natalie. A gentle poke on Natalie's leg would leave an indentation that took a while to rebound.
