Chapter504

"Get lost!"

A voice, cold as ice, pierced the air.

The two little boys, clutching their backpacks, ran off in a panic. However, they still could not resist stealing a final, curious glance at Natalie's leg.

"Natalie."

The sound of Nathan's voice brought Natalie back to the present. He hugged her, softly patting her back as he said, “It’s going to be okay. You’ll feel better once your muscles recover.”

"So, you’ve noticed too," Natalie said, her voice choked with emotion.

Oliver sat in his sports car, watching silently.

Confusion and helplessness could be seen in Natalie's eyes as she looked up at Roger Wild, and it tore at Oliver’s heart.

He had intended to bring Natalie back with him, to tell her it was not voluntary and that he did not want a divorce. But unexpectedly, he witnessed Roger Wild helping Natalie out, accompanying her to learn to walk again.

He could only watch as another man held his beloved Natalie close, their bodies close together. She showed no signs of resistance as well.

Natalie showed no sign of resistance.

She had left the Rosewood Estate with a cast on her leg, and now it was gone. Was it Roger who had removed her cast?

That was something Oliver had planned to handle himself – he had even consulted with a surgeon about the intricacies of cast removal, at which point the surgeon had laughed and said, "There’s no big deal about taking off a cast, Mr. Windsor. You’re being overly cautious."

Oliver suddenly felt as if he was the butt of the joke. He had rushed over here, filled with hope for Natalie, thinking of ways to hold onto her, but perhaps, she had long since removed him from her heart.

In reality, she never intended to marry him from the start. She was always prepared to leave, having bought her own apartment as her escape plan. She did not take the gifts he had given her, nor did she want a share of his wealth. She had left him decisively.

Oliver slammed his fist onto the steering wheel, eliciting a sharp honk from the car.

Nathan happened to look in the direction of the road and instantly caught sight of Oliver's car.

Even through the one-way glass, Oliver was convinced that the other man knew he was there.

The distinct honk of a Lamborghini drew Natalie's attention; she quickly turned her head in search of the sound.

At this time, Nathan suddenly asked, "Are you hungry? Shall we grab a bite to eat?"

As dusk neared, the crowd around them thickened. Natalie, not wishing to be seen in her current state, replied, "Nathan, I’d rather just go home."

"Okay, I’ll carry you." Nathan effortlessly scooped Natalie into a bridal carry, saying reassuringly, "Don’t worry, Natalie. Just give it some time, and once your muscles recover, you’ll be fine."

They completed the rest of the journey in silence.

Once at her place, Natalie did not invite Nathan in, instead thanking him at the door and promising to make it up to him later.

"Natalie, I’ve told you before, you don’t have to thank me. Not ever," Nathan insisted.

Instinctively crossing her right leg behind her left, she locked eyes with him. After a brief silence, she asked, "Nathan, you have someone watching over me, right?"

Nathan's expression stiffened slightly. "What?"

Natalie's throat felt tight as memories cascaded through her mind. Whether it was on the island during the variety show shooting, this timely rescue, or many other too-coincidental encounters, it all seemed too orchestrated.

"You always arrive just in time," Natalie said with a weary smile, "I know Oliver has his people around me, which explains how he gets updates so quickly. But how do you manage it? I don’t know who you have keeping tabs on me, or even if I know them, but..."

"Are you asking me not to fall for you?" Nathan interjected bluntly.

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
