Chapter 415 Baby, Don't You Know?
"You..."
Natalie looked around guiltily, as though trying to shift the blame she said, "Your grandma said that, not me!"
Oliver approached Natalie.
As he did, Natalie hastily retreated a step, but Oliver advanced, closing the distance. His arm, strong and firm, encircled her slender waist.
With a decisive pull, Natalie found herself tightly held within his arms.
"Ah!" Natalie exclaimed softly. She placed one hand on his chest while the other gripped his arm, seeking stability. The firmness of his muscles was unmistakable under her touch.
"You should know whether I have energy or not…" Oliver whispered.
Natalie faltered, words failing her.
"Don't you know?" Oliver asked, raising an eyebrow.
On the verge of nodding, Natalie was interrupted by Oliver's chuckle.
"I'll show you tonight," he promised.
Natalie's eyes widened in alarm. "I know!"
"Hmm?" Oliver's voice took on a playful note.
"You're very energetic!" Natalie nodded frantically as her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
'This is so embarrassing! Why does he like making me say such things?' she murmured inwardly.
Pleased with her response, Oliver smiled, gently pinching Natalie's chin before kissing her. He whispered, "We'll confirm it tonight."
"Oliver, you..." Natalie glared at Oliver.
Before she could finish, Tina, having ended the video call, looked at Natalie curiously and innocently as she asked, "Mom, Uncle, what are you doing?"
Under Tina's gaze, Natalie felt even more embarrassed. She wished the ground would open up and swallow her. Lightly pushing against Oliver and signaling him to release her, she said, "It's nothing."
Oliver, however, showed reluctance.
Indeed, the presence of children brought a lot of inconvenience.
After setting down the iPad, Liam returned after a while, holding a jewelry box in his hand. He opened it to reveal a jade ornament inside, its water-like hue signaling its extraordinary value and uniqueness.
"Oliver, Natalie, this is your grandmother's gift for Tina," Liam announced, then took a moment to explain it to Tina as well.
Tina did not immediately take the ornament; she looked to Natalie for approval. Once Natalie nodded, she accepted the gift from Liam with a smile and thanked him.
The ornament, already fitted with a red string, seemed tailor-made for a child of Tina's age.
Natalie carefully placed it on Tina.
Oliver sensed something was not quite right. "Liam, Grandma was aware of Tina's existence before today, wasn't she?"
Liam feigned ignorance and confusion. "Huh?"
"This ornament was kept at Grandma's personal safe at the bank, and it wasn’t supposed to be strung," Oliver noted.
No longer able to feign ignorance, Liam calmly confessed, "I informed her."
"Grandma has been encouraging me and Natalie to have a child…" Oliver looked at Liam.
Maintaining his smile, Liam replied, "It would be good for you to have a child as well. Arthur is..."
"Enough," Oliver cut him off, nodding toward Tina, "Grandma already has Tina."
"Apart from that, your grandmother asked about Tina's mother, and I suggested it might be the young lady from before,” Liam revealed. Though primarily aligned with Marjorie, his loyalty to Oliver was evident. Over the past years, Liam had acted as a liaison between the two parties.
Oliver acknowledged this with a nod.
Keeping this information from Grandma was unnecessary, as she rarely interfered in the younger generation's matters. She had been informed of Flora and Arthur's relationship previously and had raised no objections.
…
Marjorie decided to return to live with Tina. However, her private doctor would not allow her to leave until the end of the month's health check-up and until she met the health standards, thus her return was temporarily delayed.
Natalie breathed a sigh of relief once more. She had not spent much time with her elders before and felt somewhat unsure.
The days that followed confirmed Tina's dependency on Natalie, and whenever Natalie was not by her side, Tina would easily wake up in the middle of the night and cry if she found herself alone.
Oliver called Arthur and requested his immediate presence at Rosewood Estate to look after his daughter.
Arthur saw his opportunity to move into Rosewood Estate and had his assistant deliver the necessary daily supplies. Going to work and everything else seemed irrelevant at this time.
Arthur, unable to hold his daughter, would return home promptly after work each day, bringing with him various toys and dolls that he thought little girls might enjoy, in an attempt to make his daughter like him more.
However, for most of the toys, Tina would just glance at them and then quickly lose interest.
"Don’t you like these, Tina?"
Arthur wondered about his own abilities to please his daughter as he looked at the Barbie doll in his hands.
Tina glanced at her father and shook her head.
Arthur's eyes widened in surprise.
In the past, his daughter had hardly paid him any mind. When with Natalie and Oliver, she would behave sweetly with them. Not only that, but she also addressed Liam as Grandpa Liam.
In this atmosphere of a happy family, Arthur felt especially out of place - his own daughter treated him as if he were a stranger.
This was the first time his daughter had responded to him, and Arthur was pleasantly surprised and eager to please her.
"What do you like then?" He stood, ready to grant her any wish.
Tina got up from the floor and dashed to the coffee table like a whirlwind, grabbing her iPad and opening a video.
"I like this!"
The video was a medical documentary, currently explaining the human skeletal system and the differences between male and female bones. It covered various topics, including human organs, biopharmaceuticals, and neurons...
Arthur, having studied at a top American university's leading medical program, found these documentaries quite basic. However, the content was highly specialized and filled with medical terminology, making it suitable for medical students.
Arthur looked at his daughter. She was only two years old but seemed to grasp a little of the content!
"You... Can you understand this?" Arthur asked, shocked.
"Hmph!" Tina pouted and glared at her father, her expression seemed to say, ‘Only a fool like you won’t understand!’
Immediately, Arthur instructed his secretary to purchase medical models and pharmaceutical instruments for Tina. Regardless of whether she understood the material, he was determined to provide for her interests. After some consideration, he asked the secretary to acquire scaled-down versions of the prototypes and have them delivered to Rosewood Estate with the utmost urgency.
