Chapter 137 Her Faithful Subject
Natalie glanced at the stage, unwilling to embarrass herself by stepping forward.
"You..." Robert was enraged; his face flushed red. He could not find the words to refute Natalie! They had accused her of coveting Adrian, and now, she had a valid reason to steer clear of suspicion.
At the same time, a slightly proud smirk appeared on Oliver’s face. It seemed like the timid kitten was now bold enough to stand up to her so-called family. This was a welcome development.
Oliver's smirk left several female guests spellbound. Despite the mask hiding his face, he seemed handsome, charming, and affectionate. For a moment, they had forgotten his terrible and menacing aura earlier. They wondered how the rumor of disfigurement came about when he was so strikingly handsome even with just half of his face exposed.
…
"Where are we headed?" Natalie asked.
"Home," Oliver answered.
Upon his reply, Natalie noticed two smaller boats beside the ship. Charles was there, speaking to the boatmen. Charles was also the one who had delivered the dress earlier.
As they were about to go down the stairs, Natalie turned around and spotted a man standing not far behind. She bowed slightly and said, "I'm deeply thankful for your help today!"
Roger did not expect such a formal thank-you from Natalie. He reached out to help Natalie up, but Oliver's warning glance prompted him to retract his hand.
"If you wish to express your gratitude, Miss Watson, why don’t you give me your phone number?” Roger asked with his phone in hand.
Oliver pulled Natalie behind him, eyeing Roger with disdain. "What do you want?"
Oliver felt threatened by Roger's presence.
"Mr. Windsor, are you always so unbearably jealous and possessive?” Roger mocked, “I only want to befriend her.”
Oliver frowned, still unable to figure out who the man in front of him was.
Natalie, unaware of the men's thoughts, found Roger's resemblance to her classmate disarming, making it difficult for her to dislike him. Moreover, he had saved her on multiple occasions. In the end, she decided to give Roger her number, hoping to treat him to a meal or send him a gift to show her gratitude.
However, as she was about to speak, Oliver suddenly kissed her.
Natalie's cheeks burned, and she struggled. After all, there were so many people watching.
"If you dare to give your number to him, I won’t stop kissing you,” Oliver whispered threateningly.
Embarrassed, Natalie found it hard to face Roger. She only apologized to him before she dragged Oliver away to escape further embarrassment. Her face felt like it was on fire.
At this time, one of Roger’s subordinates walked over and asked, "Sir, aren’t you going to follow her?"
"For what?"
Roger's demeanor shifted back to one of authority. It was a look those familiar with ‘D’ would recognize. Those who had crossed paths with him were no longer around to tell the tale.
The subordinate was puzzled. "Sir, there was a hit placed on Natalie in the dark web. You accepted the job, so why did you save her today?"
Roger did not respond. Instead, he toyed with the jade pendant on his neck and asked, "Has the client been identified?"
"No. Since the dark web's inception, all traceable information has been scrubbed. Tracking the client through the dark web is nearly impossible."
"Keep an eye out for any job involving Natalie."
"Understood."
Although the DIE Organization accepted the job, Natalie remained unharmed. This silently announced the organization’s protection of her, and few would dare to provoke the organization.
Meanwhile, with just a few words, Roger’s subordinate figured out his intention. However, he could not understand why his boss, with looks; skills; and status, had fallen for a married woman. Not only that, but his boss did not pursue her and chose to silently protect her from afar.
"What about the information you’re supposed to investigate?" Roger inquired, only looking after the boat vanished into the ocean.
"It's been emailed to you."
"What’s her phone number?"
The subordinate quickly said a string of numbers.
Roger texted Natalie and did not hide that it was him. After all, she knew about his work, so she would not be surprised that he found her number.
At the same time, the subordinate asked, "Should I create an Instagram account for you? Then you can follow her."
"Instagram?" Roger had little interest in social media, but he showed a hint of interest this time.
Seeing this, the subordinate quickly created an account for him.
Seeing that he could edit his bio, Roger changed it to: Her faithful knight.
…
Oliver and Natalie sat in one boat while Charles and Jamie sat in the other.
The boat, which was more of a yacht, was spacious. It was luxurious, boasting comfortable seating, tech amenities, and refreshments.
Feeling awkward, Natalie remained silent.
While Charles and Jamie's boat sailed toward the shore, they stayed at sea.
Upon seeing this, Natalie asked, "Is there no one operating the boat?"
Oliver discarded his mask, his expression dark. He drank some water, ignoring her.
"Never mind," Natalie muttered to herself with a sigh when she saw his increasingly bad mood.
Oliver went to the control cabin, adeptly setting it to autopilot. A voice announced the successful positioning.
"The autopilot system has been activated, and the latitude and longitude have been successfully positioned."
Natalie's question just now seemed foolish now.
The waves were rough at night, and even the luxurious yacht swayed, causing the tall man to stagger for a moment.
"Oliver, are you okay?"
Natalie hurried over, almost tripping herself due to the slapping of the waves.
Oliver supported her with one hand on her arm and the other hand on the cabin railing.
"Why are you running?" Oliver frowned as if reprimanding a naughty child. His lips were pressed together and pale, and his back was slightly hunched, revealing his discomfort.
"Does your stomach hurt?" Natalie worriedly asked.
