Chapter 944 My Heart Is with Jane
Aurora was stunned for a moment and guessed that Jane had run into Anthony when she went out.
"What oatmeal?" Aurora instinctively denied it.
Anthony, lacking patience to listen to Aurora, asked directly, "Aurora, what's with the oatmeal on Jane?
Aurora pretended to suddenly realize and had to confess, "It was when Ms. Watkins brought me the oatmeal, and because it was too hot, I accidentally spilled it."
"She brought you oatmeal?" Anthony squinted.
Aurora was unsure about why Anthony was upset. Feeling guilty, her mind went blank, and she almost revealed everything, "Auntie asked Ms. Watkins to give me oatmeal. Since it wasn't cooled down and was too hot, I accidentally spilled it on her."
Anthony was initially unhappy that Jane had brought the oatmeal, but he didn't anticipate that they intended for Jane to serve Aurora as if she were a servant.
Aurora saw three words on Anthony's face: You are unworthy.
Anthony, I didn't want this either. It was Auntie who..." Aurora began to make excuses for herself before realizing it. She felt something was amiss and abruptly fell silent, her expression filled with pain. "I'm sorry, Anthony, I'm sorry," Aurora said, lowering her head.
She had never imagined she would act like this. Aurora used to detest those hypocritical socialites in their circle.
Aurora used to admire Jane as her role model because Jane was true to herself. Some called Jane spoiled, others found her willful, and many labeled her as arrogant. However, no one ever accused Jane of being two-faced. But what has happened to her now?
"Aurora, if you still want to stay in this house and give birth to the child in your belly, you'd better put away those little schemes !"
Otherwise, Anthony feared he might not tolerate Aurora long enough for her to give birth.
Anthony," Aurora looked up, confused and fearful. "I am your fiancée. The child in my belly is your flesh and blood. I know you don't like me now, but how can you say that about me?"
Tears streamed down Aurora's cheeks.
If it were another man, witnessing a fragile woman cry so miserably, he might have felt compassion. But Anthony's heart belonged to Jane. Aurora's tears only irritated Anthony. Additionally, concerning the child in Aurora's womb, it was uncertain whose offspring it might be.
“Aurora, I want to be clear that I do not have feelings for you. Our engagement was not a decision I made willingly. I've expressed this to you before, and today will be the last time I repeat these words." Anthony glanced at his watch. It had been ten minutes since he entered the room.
Aurora said with a sob, unwilling to give up, "You don't like me now, but how can you be sure you won't in the future, Anthony? People's hearts change. Just because there's no place for me in your heart now doesn't mean there won't be in the future. You used to like Jane so much, but didn't you give up on her now?”
Everyone believed that Anthony had given up on Jane, and Anthony had even thought the same. However, in the end, he couldn't deceive himself.
"Feelings change, but there will never be a place for you in my heart," Anthony stated firmly. "Aurora, my heart does not belong to you."
After a brief pause, Anthony added one final sentence, "Aurora, for the companionship you provided to my mother, I suggest you leave me as soon as possible.”
"I don't want to leave you! Anthony, I love you!" Aurora almost shouted, "You don't know, I've liked you for seven years. I started liking you in high school. I can't give you up!"
"Suit yourself."
Anthony didn't have the patience to say more.
Aurora lay on the hospital bed, holding her prominent pregnant belly, crying in pain.
Through her tears, she had a sudden realization. Hastily wiping away her tears, she whispered to herself, "No, I mustn't cry. It's not good for the baby."
"Aurora, please don't cry. You are already carrying Anthony's child. He will come to like you eventually.”
"Jane is no longer the Jane of the past. Don't be afraid. Jane can't even compare to you now. She's no longer the top socialite. She has nothing. So she can't beat you!"
Linda was very assured of her daughter being raised in the Clark family. She left without any reluctance.
"Your son is coming back this afternoon. Don't look so down, okay?"
The Dewar family had a son and a daughter, with Aurora being the elder daughter and Wade Dewar the younger son. Wade had recently turned eighteen and completed his high school exams.
He had applied for a gap year and was planning to study abroad the following year.
“You only care about your son, while your daughter is still lying in the hospital!" Otis expressed his dissatisfaction with Linda's attitude.
"She's receiving good care. Why are you so worried?" Linda had hurried to the hospital earlier that morning to ensure Aurora was not in any life-threatening condition and that her grandchild was healthy. Linda believed she had fulfilled her duty.
"Besides, once Aurora was married, she belonged to the Clark family. Wade will be our support in the future. I should care more about him."
Otis and Linda had been married for many years and knew her personality well. She wasn't a bad person, but she had several small flaws that were difficult to alter.
"Linda, do you really think Anthony is suitable for Aurora?" Otis asked worriedly.
Why not? Anthony is handsome, hails from a respectable family, and is accomplished. He is a perfect match for our Aurora. While Aurora is my biological daughter, I must admit that if it weren't for Aurora gaining Mrs. Clark's favor, she wouldn't have such a favorable marriage! You can't imagine how many people aspire to have their daughters wedded to Anthony." Linda boasted proudly.
"But Anthony doesn't like our Aurora!"
“Love alone can't provide sustenance. Men can be unpredictable. Just because he doesn't appreciate her now doesn't mean he won't in the future. Aurora is stunning, with a great personality and exceptional qualities. Anthony won't overlook her. He simply hasn't recognized her true value yet, which is why he's holding onto that woman, Jane!”
Anthony left the hospital room and didn't see the Dewar family parents or Ann, so he called a nurse for Aurora.
Anthony didn't want Aurora to unintentionally miscarry the child she was carrying, as that was the leverage to prevent Aurora and Ann from having any hope or plans. Clint was waiting at a discreet corner. When he saw Anthony emerge, he straightened up.
"Where is she?"
Clint knew Anthony was asking about Jane, "Ms. Watkins got into a Lamborghini."
