Chapter 1118 Nightmare

The temperature in Paykston was way lower than in Southvale.

It got even chillier after dark.

Jane jolted awake from a nightmare, her face pale and drenched in sweat, like she'd just been pulled out of water.

She dreamt she kept falling down the stairs, bright red blood streaming from her thigh.

She saw a fully formed child being taken out of her, turning into a pile of mush.

Everyone around her was cursing.

"Jane, you're so ruthless! You even kill your own child!"

"Vicious woman! You'll meet a gruesome end!"

"A woman like you should never have kids!"

The scene shattered and changed. Natalie was holding Nathan, backing away. "Jane, you've disappointed me so much. How can a woman like you be my son's godmother?"

Flora avoided her like the plague, and Tina ran away as soon as she saw her.

A blood-covered fetus lay on the ground, crying with a twisted face. "Mom, why don't you want me? You promised to love me! Even if you don't love me, why did you kill me?"

Jane sat up, panting heavily, gulping down a large glass of water to calm herself.

It was just a dream, she told herself.

Too scared to sleep, she grabbed her phone and started browsing aimlessly.

[Jane is indeed a homewrecker]

[Jane plotted against Anthony's ex-fiancée]

[Jane pushed a pregnant woman]

Jane was shocked to see her name all over the forums in their circle.

She hadn't been feeling well and hadn't been on social media much. Now, the news about her being Anthony's mistress and plotting against Aurora was everywhere.

Some even said: [Location: South City. We knew about Jane and Aurora's situation half a year ago. It's true; she was Anthony's mistress; Anthony just kept it under wraps.]

Another "insider" revealed: [Location: South City. Jane's friends should stop explaining. It's embarrassing. She not only made Aurora step down from being Anthony's fiancée but also tried to marry Anthony with the child in her belly.]

[Mistresses are never a new topic in this circle. A certain model with the last name Watson also succeeded by breaking up someone else's family.]

[So, marrying with a child isn't novel either. A certain designer with the last name Lee had a daughter behind the scenes and now brought her back to the country.]

[No wonder they're good friends!]

The model Watson they talked about was explicitly Natalie, and the designer Lee was Flora.

Jane rubbed her forehead, feeling dizzy.

How did her life become such a mess?

She didn't protect her child, and now even her friends were getting dragged into it.

Her heart felt empty like it was being blown by the wind, with a fear of being abandoned by the world.

Jane still remembered that when she left Paykston, she told Natalie she was going abroad for inspiration. She missed Nathan's birth and birthday party. Now Natalie and Flora knew she didn't disappear for work but to be someone's mistress.

Dawn broke.

Jane clutched her phone tightly, finally making it to seven or eight in the morning. She dialed a number.

A familiar voice came from the other end. After becoming a mother, Natalie spoke even more gently than Jane remembered.

"Natalie, I'm sorry, I lied to you. I didn't go abroad; I was with the Clark family. I'm sorry, Natalie, I didn't visit when Lucas was sick, not even a phone call."

Jane stared powerlessly at the ceiling; under immense psychological pressure, she seemed unable to hear what Natalie was saying.

She answered irrelevantly, "Natalie, I'm not a mistress. I don't want to be a mistress."

"Jane, where are you now?" Natalie sensed something was wrong with Jane's emotions and immediately asked rather than comfort her. "Tell me, where are you? Are you still at the Clark family?"

Natalie's voice was firm and soothing.

"In Paykston. I'm back," Jane said.

She was finally back.

Early in the morning, the Watkins family villa welcomed a guest.

Jovan was stunned when the bodyguard reported. Their whereabouts were secretive, and almost no one in the Paykston circle knew they had returned to the country.

"The lady said her last name is Watson, and she's a friend of Ms. Watkins," the bodyguard said, "but she brought eight highly skilled bodyguards with her."

It seemed like the visitor had ill intentions.

Hearing the last name "Watson," Jovan had a vague guess and asked to have her invited in.

"Who?" Ainslee, with a lollipop in her mouth, tilted her head and asked Jovan curiously.

"Oliver's wife," Anthony explained succinctly.

Ainslee's eyes lit up, and he immediately identified Natalie. "The model who cooks really well?"

Ainslee only remembered that she cooked really well.

Natalie was led in by a servant, walking quickly, eager to see Jane.

As soon as she entered, she saw Ainslee and Jovan in the living room, seemingly waiting for her.

Ainslee, sitting, was particularly striking, with fair skin, distinct features, and green eyes.

Jovan, standing, was tall and straight, with broad shoulders and long legs, his handsome features bearing a striking resemblance to Jane's, yet carrying an alluring hint of roguish charm.

"Jovan?" Natalie took a long moment to speak, both surprised and delighted.

"Natalie, I heard you not only got married but also had a baby," Jovan skillfully made small talk, as if they hadn't been apart for four or five years.

He was handsome and charming; when talking to Jane and her friends, he was especially gentle.

Natalie didn't have time to chat with Jovan. "Jovan, where's Jane? I'm here to see Jane."

Jovan suddenly understood, realizing it was Jane who had told Natalie, no wonder she could find them.

"Jane is upstairs." Jovan signaled the servant to take Natalie up.

As she went upstairs, Natalie's gaze swept over Ainslee, frowning in confusion.

Natalie felt that Ainslee looked familiar, as if she had seen her somewhere before, or perhaps in a photo.
