Chapter 711 Early Pregnancy

Natalie had not considered where the car had come from; she assumed it was provided by the estate.

Casey was skilled and maintained a consistent speed during the trip.

Lilian, who had initially been an assistant and had not accompanied Natalie to meet the contestants, hurried over after receiving a phone call from Oliver. She arrived just in time to witness a certain scene.

"Natalie, you don’t need to worry about Innes. You have me and Oliver for support!"

"It’s better not to offend people unless necessary," Natalie replied. "Don’t worry. I won’t allow myself to be taken advantage of. We’ll need to work together in the future, so it would not be good if things became hostile."

Innes appeared to be exactly the type of person that one should avoid direct confrontation.

Upon Natalie's arrival, Rosy May was waiting for her. She briefed Natalie on Lucas's recent health updates and shared the news that the hospital had identified a matching bone marrow donor. However, the source of the bone marrow had yet to be determined.

Needless to say, Natalie was elated by this news.

"By the way, Natalie, why don’t you get a physical examination since you’re here? You have not had any follow-up examinations since your previous injuries. It’s a suitable time for a check-up, especially since the hospital is not crowded today," Rosy suggested, smoothly transitioning to her main point.

"Me?" Natalie was stunned by Rosy's suggestion, finding it both strange and unexpected. However, she did not question Rosy, since it was normal for doctors to advise patients to get a checkup.

"My previous injuries were superficial, and I currently don’t experience any discomfort."

"It’s not solely about your past injuries," Rosy explained, "Regular check-ups are important for everyone. Moreover, with the hospital being less busy today, it is an opportune time. This way, when Lucas asks about your health, I can assure him with confidence. What do you think?"

Convinced by Rosy's reasoning, Natalie agreed to the examination.

Rosy had meticulously planned the examination, incorporating a variety of routine tests to discreetly include early pregnancy tests, such as the HCG test, among others that did not involve radiation or raise suspicion, thereby avoiding arousing Natalie's suspicions.

The examination concluded swiftly, but the results were not immediately available.

Natalie returned with Rosy bidding her goodbye.

As Natalie departed, Rosy's smile faded, and she made her way quickly to the laboratory.

"Where are the test results for patient number 13?" Rosy asked upon arrival.

To safeguard patient confidentiality, the hospital utilized patient numbers instead of names when necessary. Natalie was patient number 13.

"It’s with me, Ms. May, but it hasn’t been examined yet," a doctor announced, raising his hand.

"Hand it over to me. Please clear a device for me; I’ll conduct the examination myself."

Rosy was very skilled and capable, but she had not felt so nervous in a long time.

The examination report came out from the printer.

"Ms. May, are you all right?" an intern noticed Rosy May's pallor and expressed concern.

"It’s... nothing," Rosy replied, closing her eyes to steady her emotions. She felt utterly powerless regarding the situation at hand.

When Rosy retreated to her private office, she locked the door and called Oliver.

"The results are out," she said, taking a deep breath, uncertain of how to convey the news, "The HCG test is a weak positive."

A weak positive result indicated early pregnancy.

Rosy could almost sense Oliver pausing to catch his breath on the other end of the phone line, feeling the tension even through the digital connection.

After a pause, Oliver asked, "How’s her health? Considering we had sex last night, will it affect her?"

"Not significantly. Natalie is very healthy," Rosy replied. Inwardly, she thought that if Natalie had not been in good health, Natalie would have needed bed rest after what had happened yesterday.

Surprisingly, Natalie did not feel any discomfort, underscoring the care Oliver had invested in her.

"What should we pay attention to?" Oliver asked again.

"In terms of prenatal education, it’s too early for you two..."

"I’m asking about Natalie," Oliver interjected.

Rosy May was left speechless. How could someone like him become a father? Did all the Windsor brothers share such good luck? Arthur was blessed with a cute and sensible daughter, and now Oliver had managed to impregnate Natalie? What kind of world do they live in?

Under Oliver’s insistence, Rosy had no choice but to inform Oliver about various early pregnancy precautions. Then, she said, “Ultimately, it’s up to the expectant mother to take care of herself. It’s not right that she’s unaware of her condition.”

"I will not let anything happen to her," Oliver stated firmly, making it clear he had no intention of informing Natalie.

Rosy took a deep breath. “As a woman, even if I’m not Natalie’s friend, I believe she should be made aware of her condition. Aren’t you worried about her reaction if she discovers you’ve kept this from her?”

"As long as you remain silent, she won’t find out."

Oliver planned to keep the pregnancy a secret until Natalie realized it on her own, considering her irregular menstrual cycles.

"Given Natalie's character, even if she were to become pregnant, she would not opt for an abortion. Why are you so adamant about keeping this a secret?" Rosy argued, seeing no benefit in hiding the truth.

"That’s not your concern. Inform Natalie about the dietary precautions you mentioned earlier, and make sure she doesn’t become suspicious."

The decision to withhold the information might stem from concerns about the fetus's vulnerability during the first trimester.

Oliver could not take the risk of Natalie rejecting the pregnancy, having witnessed such outcomes before. Without a child, if Natalie were to learn about Lucas's bone marrow situation later, Oliver doubted she would choose him over Lucas. Between love and life, Natalie seemed inclined toward the latter.

Natalie spent her lunchtime downtown with Lilian and Casey.

Lilian, upon spotting an Italian gelato shop, could not contain her excitement and dashed over to join the queue.

"Miss Watson, did you visit the hospital for a check-up today?" Casey suddenly asked after Lilian left.

"Huh? How did you know?" Natalie was keen on not imposing on them, thus she had not requested Casey and Missy to accompany her to the hospital.

Casey gestured toward Natalie's arm, highlighting a small needle mark from the blood test conducted earlier that day.

"I indeed went for a check-up," Natalie admitted with a sigh. It then made sense why Nathan had insisted on Casey accompanying her. "Casey, your observational skills are quite remarkable!"

Natalie's thoughts briefly wandered to Roger Wild. It had been a considerable time since she last saw him or received any updates about him.

This absence left Natalie feeling both puzzled and slightly uneasy. Considering her complex relationship with Roger, she was hesitant to initiate contact. She was concerned that reaching out might lead Roger to misconstrue her intentions and revive his hope.

"By the way, Casey, do you know how Nathan has been doing recently?"

"No," Casey responded, shaking her head, "Miss Watson, as I’ve already mentioned, I’m on your side now. I’ve cut off contact with Mr. Wild."

Natalie found herself momentarily at a loss for words, puzzled by Casey's unwavering loyalty to her.
