Chapter 101 Nervous Oliver
"A fatal blow? Does she even have the ability to do that?”
Arwyn admitted that Natalie indeed had some advantages. Natalie was beautiful, her figure good, and she had a certain charm. However, she felt that Natalie still had a long way to go compared to her.Arwyn
All of a sudden, Arwyn looked at Hailey meaningfully and asked, “Hailey, what should we do if we’re the last two finalists?”
"How’s that possible? I can’t compete with you at all,” Hailey replied with a smile. Inwardly, she thought, ‘Ha, do you think you have the capability and influence to compete with me?
Arwyn smiled in satisfaction upon hearing this, confident that victory was within her grasp.
…
The runway was set up by the seaside. It was flat, unlike the soft sand, so it was easier to walk on.
Eight judges were given the seats with the best view while the audience was seated with the beach as the backdrop.
Between the vast sky and the boundless sea, seagulls flew and the waves kissed the shore, creating a very romantic atmosphere.
After the filming crew took their positions, the music started, and the competition finally began!
Previously, the production team deliberately promoted a few individuals such as Hailey, who was given the first appearance due to her background; and Arwyn, who would come out last due to her fame. As for Natalie, she was just randomly given a position somewhere in the middle.
Although the twenty finalists fought their way through rigorous selection, in the eyes of the industry leaders, their skills were just average. Many of those with years of experience in the industry watched with little interest, occasionally exchanging comments in low voices. They found some of the models decent but walked poorly. Some had a good temperament but lacked presence.
All of a sudden, everyone fell silent.
Even the judges, who were pretending to be interested, straightened their backs in genuine interest.
The sound of high heels hitting the runway was crisp and powerful. It somehow blended harmoniously with the sounds of the music and the waves.
The woman on the runway was exquisitely beautiful with almond-shaped eyes and rosy cheeks. Despite her gentle beauty, she moved gracefully with the wind under her feet. Her face was expressionless, but her presence was commanding. With her outfit, she was like a powerful warrior.
"Who is that?" one judge asked excitedly.
"Number 16? Her name’s Natalie. She’s not well-known,” another judge replied.
“In my opinion, her aura is even stronger than that of Arwyn. She’s a promising talent!”
With Natalie's dazzling performance preceding her, Arwyn, who wore a black fishtail dress, seemed a little underwhelming. She noticed that some people were whispering, not paying attention to her at all. It was different from how focused they were in Natalie appeared. Jealousy and anger surged in her heart immediately.
…
When filming finally ended, many were talking about Natalie, inquiring about who she was.
"So, she's the one main model of the autumn car exhibition’s Scene B!"
"No wonder she got selected as the main model despite being unknown. She deserved it! Not bad, not bad!”
"I thought this season would be boring, but unexpectedly, a model who could rival Arwyn appeared! I’m kind of looking forward to it now!”
"I think Natalie has more potential than Arwyn. I heard that Cory Clayton only has high praises for Natalie!”
These voices felt like slaps on Arwyn's face, stinging hotly.
“I told you not to underestimate her, Arwyn. The production team will certainly give her more screen time now to compete with you,” Hailey said, fueling the fire, “She’s not as innocent as she seems. She’s quite ambitious.”
Arwyn glared at Natalie as she gritted her teeth. She felt insulted being compared to an unknown model like Natalie.
After filming the runway scene today, the mentors would come in tomorrow.
The production team had prepared a villa as a dormitory for the twenty models.
Unlike the other models who took this opportunity to stay back at the beach and network with other people in the industry, Natalie hurried back home to the villa to cook for Oliver.
The villa came with a fully equipped kitchen. All kinds of ingredients had already been prepared by the production team.
After taking a look, Natalie brought out the cod, parsley, basil leaves, mint, garlic cloves, mustard, pickles, peppers, and olive oil. She began by cooking the cod first, cooking it on low heat for ten minutes. She also decided to pair the cod with scallops.
After that, she busied herself with preparing the sauce, grabbing the ingredients she needed when necessary.
When she was done, there was an additional pan-fried steak, Caesar salad, zucchini Parmesan pancakes, and mushroom soup.
She quickly brought the food out to Charles, who was waiting by the road behind the villa. He would be delivering the food straight to Oliver’s office at RK Group.
…
Half an hour later.
The other models began to return one after another, accompanied by the filming crew.
Natalie had no intention of socializing with them, so she returned to her bedroom immediately.
Within a few minutes of her shutting the door, Oliver called her.
“Natalie, the food is cold,” Oliver said.
Despite his domineering and powerful aura, Natalie suddenly thought that he sounded a little like a petulant child at this moment. It was quite… cute.
He continued to say, “How can you make a sick person eat cold food? Why did you use cheap disposable containers?”
However, after Natalie heard these complaints, she thought to herself, ‘It was just an illusion. He’s not cute at all!’
Natalie remained silent for two seconds before she explained, “They don’t have insulated containers here.”
After a beat, she added, “Why don’t you have Charles bring some to me tomorrow?”
…
On the other end of the line…
‘Not only am I eating takeouts, but I even have to bring my own container?’
Oliver sat in his leather chair, looking displeased as he held his phone with his left hand while he poked the cod twice with a fork using his right hand.
"Natalie, I feel like having Japanese cuisine…”
“I can’t make Japanese cuisine with the ingredients here. If you want Japanese food, why don’t you ask Charles to bring the ingredients over tomorrow? I’ll make you whatever you want then, okay?” Natalie said patiently. The runway segment went very well for her today, so she was in a good mood.
"Not only must I bring my own container, but I must also provide the ingredients?” Oliver said unhappily.
“There’s nothing I can do about that,” Natalie asked, her voice was soft and gentle due to guilt, “I promise I’ll make you whatever you want to eat. Just let Charles bring the ingredients over, and I’ll make it for you.”
Natalie was also worried that if she did not coax him, he would not allow her to participate in the competition.
Oliver saw through her thoughts immediately. Irritated, he tugged at his tie a little too aggressively, which caused him to pull on one of his wounds. He grunted in pain immediately.
Sensing that something was amiss, Natalie asked nervously, "What's wrong?"
"I pulled my wound," Oliver replied truthfully, wanting to see her reaction.
"Ah? Did it bleed? Does it hurt a lot? Why don’t we call Dr. May?” Natalie said.
While Natalie spoke, Oliver could hear hurried footsteps for a moment before they fell silent. He could already imagine her jumping in anxiety, wanting to check on him but only realizing that they were in different places.
He thought her behavior was a little silly… but cute.
At this time, Charles knocked on the door, reminding Olivera about a meeting.
With this, Oliver quickly said a few words to Natalie before ending the call without much of an explanation.
…
Oliver was completely unaware that Natalie called Liam as soon as the call ended. She thought he had ended the call in a hurry due to his pain. Panicked, she decided to call Liam to check on Oliver.
Unexpectedly, Liam said, “Young Master isn’t home. You can try calling Charles.”
"He went to work with his injury?"
Natalie was shocked. She had never met such a restless patient before.
“Yes,” Liam said with a sigh, “He went to RK Group. He has a habit of disregarding his health when he works. In fact, I’m not even sure if he’ll come back tonight. He’ll probably end up staying overnight in his office. What should we do?”
‘How can he not rest at all?’
Natalie recalled that Oliver had already started looking at work documents not long after his surgery was over.
The more she thought about it, the more worried she became. In the end, she asked for temporary leave from the production team before she made her way to RK Group’s headquarters.
…
The other models watched in confusion as Natalie rushed out of the villa.
"Hailey, where’s Natalie going?" Arwyn asked, pretending to be casual. In fact, she was actually curious.
"I don't know, but it definitely isn't anywhere great. She doesn’t have much money after all,” Hailey said with a smile, “Don’t worry about her. In the past, she used to stay out all the time.”
Upon hearing the implication that Natalie had always been up to no good, staying out all the time, the models looked at each other with scornful expressions on their faces.
…
At 8 PM, the remaining employees at RK Group’s headquarters began to leave one after another.
At the same time, a graceful figure hurried into the lobby, making a beeline for the front desk.
Natalie had run in here as soon as she got out of the cab. Hence, she was panting as she said, “Hi, uh, is Simon Frost still in his office? Can you take me to him? I have something urgent to speak to him about.”
After a few seconds, Natalie noticed that the receptionists were looking behind her with strange expressions on their faces, and it had become quiet all around. When she turned around, she saw Oliver standing not far away.
He was wearing a dark blue suit today, looking as charming as usual. At this time, several executives stood around him, staring at Natalie curiously.
Natalie felt extremely awkward at this moment.
Oliver stood with one hand in his pocket, staring at Natalie expressionlessly.
This was her first time seeing Oliver in a work setting. If it was even possible, he seemed even more domineering and powerful than usual. Just standing there, he already looked incredibly intimidating and formidable.
