Chapter 1117 Aggrieved
Ainslee has a family doctor accompanying her, but this doctor specializes in surgery, so Jovan hired a gynecologist to take care of Jane.
"It's been a long time since I've had this kind of treatment," Jane said lazily, lying in the sunroom. The doctor advised her to avoid drafts, and Jovan didn't let her go out recently.
Jane's injuries weren't severe. Although she fell down the stairs, it was premeditated, and she avoided important parts of her body. Now, she just needed to recover from the miscarriage surgery.
"Are you getting used to it?" Jovan originally wanted to say, "Did Anthony mistreat you by not arranging a family doctor?" but he held back.
It was not the time to mention Anthony!
"Of course, I like it!" Jane was the type who could enjoy both luxury and hardship.
"Jovan, I heard the pastries here are delicious," Ainslee said, walking into the sunroom in a robe, his face clearly showing he wanted to eat.
"Natalie's pastries are better than those outside." Jane boasted about her friend.
"Which store is Natalie from? Where is it?" Ainslee asked, very interested.
"It's Natalie. Jane's friend," Jovan explained.
Jane couldn't help but wonder, 'Is the gluttonous Ainslee in front of her the same person she had seen on the cruise ship?'
'With such a person in charge of the Richardson family, it would probably decline without Jovan's support.'
Jovan ignored Ainslee and asked Jane, "When do you plan to visit Natalie? You can bring a gift for me when your health improves."
He meant a gift for Ainslee's child and her wedding.
"Okay." Jane agreed. "I'll ask Natalie when she's free."
No one else knew Jane had returned to Paykston. She planned to tell Natalie and Flora after a month of recovery.
Ainslee seemed a bit unhappy. After leaving the sunroom, she pulled Jovan aside and asked, "Is Natalie a pastry chef? How can I buy her pastries? I want to try them."
"Keep dreaming," Jovan said sincerely.
"Natalie is not a pastry chef. She's a supermodel and also Oliver's wife," he explained.
Since bringing Jovan to his side, Ainslee had almost stopped managing family affairs. Jovan's reminder made him recall that Oliver from the RisingKing Group had a wife he cherished.
Oliver's wife wouldn't casually cook for others.
Ainslee sighed regretfully. "So I have no chance to taste Natalie's food?"
"Ainslee, you never used to be this gluttonous," Jovan said helplessly.
"That's because I didn't realize before that food could make me happy," Ainslee said righteously.
Jovan walked downstairs, and a bodyguard approached. "Jovan, there's a middle-aged man outside who calls himself Billy looking for you."
"Billy." Jovan's eyes lit up with a smile, "Is he alone?"
"Yes, he's alone," the bodyguard replied.
Then Jovan said, "Please have him wait in the living room."
After speaking, Jovan met Ainslee's puzzled gaze and explained, "Billy used to be the chef who took care of Jane and me."
Ainslee's eyes lit up. "Is his cooking as good as Natalie's?"
"Probably not." Jovan wasn't sure about Natalie's cooking skills.
Ainslee looked at Jovan resentfully, as if saying, "How useless are you? You can't even find a chef better than Oliver's wife."
"If you really want to try, you can ask Jane if she's willing," Jovan suggested.
Ainslee glared at Jovan unhappily. "You just want me to get along with Jane, don't you? Just say it!"
Jovan said directly, "Then I ask you to get along with Jane, okay?"
Ainslee felt frustrated but couldn't pinpoint why.
In the living room, he sat a spirited Billy, wearing a traditional white outfit. He looked a bit uneasy on the sofa. When he saw Jovan, he immediately stood up, with a hint of tears in his eyes.
"Mr. Watkins," Billy called him.
"Billy, long time no see. How's everything going?" Jovan asked calmly, gesturing for Billy to sit.
"Good! Everything's good!" Billy was excited to see Jovan. "It's great to see you're well too!"
Billy had been heartbroken for a long time, thinking Jovan was beyond saving.
Jovan never liked unnecessary small talk, so he got straight to the point. "Billy, are you here to deliver a message for him or act as a mediator?"
Jovan had already investigated that Billy was with Anthony and had been Jane's chef for the past few months.
As for "him," although not explicitly stated, both knew who it was.
"Mr. Watkins, I'm not here to deliver a message for Mr. Clark, nor am I his mediator," Billy said. "Mr. Clark dismissed me."
Jovan raised an eyebrow slightly.
They were both smart people, and even without saying it outright, they understood each other's intentions.
Anthony had kept Billy for Jane's sake, and now dismissing him was also a way to ensure Billy could continue to follow Jane.
"Can't even protect Jane and her child. Such a useless man must be feeling guilty." Jovan sneered.
Billy kept his mouth shut; he wasn't in a position to speak here.
Technically, the Watkins family was Billy's former employer, but objectively, Anthony had treated him well over the years.
"How is the useless man now?" Jovan asked, sitting on the sofa opposite Billy.
"When I left, Mr. Clark went to the company," Billy replied.
Jovan nodded in satisfaction.
Anthony better not bother Jane again, or he'd break his legs!
"In that case, I'll rely on you to take care of Jane's meals. But remember, once you're back with the Watkins family, you're part of the Watkins family." Jovan warned Billy.
"Of course, I understand."
"Good." Jovan had a servant take Billy to his room.
