Chapter 925 Restoring Justice

"You lied to me. Oliver, you lied to me!" Helen widened her eyes and twisted her face in a crazed fury.

Helen couldn't believe that she had repeatedly harmed her own daughter for Isabella's!

Oliver didn't even bother to give her a glance and left.

He had said everything he needed to say, and the outcome he wanted was almost achieved. He planned to go find Natalie.

"Oliver, don't go! Tell me, you were lying to me." Helen got up from the floor, trying to catch Oliver and make him admit he was lying.

"Mrs. Hastings." Collin blocked Helen.

The door to the room opened and then closed again.

Helen could only stare blankly at him as Oliver completely disappeared from her sight, tears of pain streaming down her face.

"Susan, tell me, is what Oliver said true?" James looked at Susan almost obsessively.

"Yes." Susan nodded calmly.

At this point, there was no need for Susan to hide anything.

James had genuinely liked Isabella back then, and that affection hadn't faded with time. Instead, it had turned into an obsession for what he couldn't have. His guilt towards Isabella and her daughter had only grown over the years.

Now that James knew Susan was Isabella's daughter with him, at the sight of Susan lying weakly on the couch, the balance in his heart that had tilted towards Natalie was once again disrupted.

"Susan, your mother..." James asked.

"She has been dead for a long time."

James was heartbroken, but it was expected. Otherwise, Isabella wouldn't have disappeared for so many years.

Before James could say another word to Susan, Helen's voice reached his ears.

"What a mistake!" Helen walked towards Susan with a dark expression, saying viciously, "I really made a mistake. I should have strangled that bastard back then!"

Helen looked at Susan with fierce and painful eyes. "I should have strangled you back then! I underestimated that slut Isabella who gave birth to a daughter couldn't stir up any trouble. Out of a moment of mercy, I ended up planting such a disaster for the Hastings family and myself!"

Without hesitation, Helen reached for Susan's neck. It was unimaginable that just an hour ago, Helen had been wholeheartedly protecting Susan, but now, she wanted her dead!

Susan was still in a state of weakness and back pain, lying there completely unable to resist Helen.

Susan looked to the other members of the Hastings family for help.

From beginning to end, Caleb remained indifferent like a bystander. As a man driven by self-interest, Caleb wouldn't favor Susan just because she turned out to be another one of his granddaughters.

And Samuel had always been on Natalie's side.

Susan could only rely on James. She murmured, “Father.”

"Helen, you shrew!" James, in a moment of heated emotion, rushed over, pushed Susan aside, and slapped Helen.

A crisp sound echoed.

Helen's head was turned by the slap. It took several seconds before she looked up, her gaze cold and terrifying as she stared at James.

James shielded Susan behind him. "Helen, it was you who used despicable means to drive Isabella and her daughter away. Now you even want Susan dead. How can you still be so vicious?"

Susan seemed like a spectator, calmly watching the drama unfold.

Helen, who had been protecting Susan at all costs, suddenly wanted to strangle her. James, who had discarded Susan like an old shoe, now pretended to be a loving father.

"Despicable means?" Helen raised her voice as if she had heard something extremely ironic.

Helen laughed bitterly. "James, I was just protecting my marriage and my life. Other women were encroaching on my family and my husband. Should I have just sat back and done nothing? You wanted me to hand over the position of Mrs. Hastings!"

"Helen, what nonsense are you talking about!" James was irritated.

"I'm not talking nonsense. I'm speaking the truth that hits your hidden thoughts! James, if I hadn't taken the initiative to drive away the slut and her daughter, where would Samuel and I be now?"

Samuel who was suddenly mentioned, raised his eyelids indifferently, not bothering to tell the nearly crazed Helen that even if Isabella had become Mrs. Hastings, the Hastings family would still be his.

Helen's smile was bleak, "James, look at you. As soon as you heard Susan was your daughter with Isabella, your attitude changed immediately. Do you still have any place for Natalie in your heart?"

"How dare you have the nerve to criticize me?" James no longer cared about his long-standing relationship with Helen. "Helen, don't forget the person who hurt Natalie the most is you! You, her own mother!"

Helen seemed to hear a curse, her whole body stiffening instantly.

"What did you say?" Helen heard it clearly but didn't want to believe it.

Memories of what she had done and said to Natalie flashed through her mind. Helen ached with a tearing pain, and her mind was in chaos. All she felt was regret now.

Tears streamed down her face in an instant.

"Enough!" Caleb shouted, breathing heavily with anger. "That's enough! All of you, go home first before embarrassing yourselves any further!"

Samuel rubbed his temples, finding the whole scene particularly ironic.

This was probably the outcome Oliver wanted. He wanted to make their family turn against each other and make each of them be filled with regret.

Everyone who had ever hurt Natalie needed to be punished including Samuel.

Oliver arrived at the attending doctor's office. Natalie was already discussing the core aspects and risks of Lucas' bone marrow transplant surgery with the doctor.

An hour later, they had reached an agreement.

Despite the twists and turns, the situation was looking good.

Lucas' condition had suddenly worsened, but he was in good physical shape. His previous health management had been excellent. The bone marrow transplant surgery could be scheduled for tomorrow.

"Samuel." As she walked out of the office, Natalie saw Samuel smoking outside the attending doctor's office. "This is a no-smoking area."

"Sorry." Samuel seemed to just realize it was a no-smoking area, looking agitated and dejected.

"What's wrong with you?" Natalie sensed something was off with Samuel and asked Oliver, "Does it have anything to do with what you said to them earlier?"

"What does it have to do with me? I don't hit or curse people." Oliver said with a righteous expression.

Natalie blinked, thinking he had a point.

Oliver wouldn't stoop to cursing. As for hitting people, with his strength, the Hastings family members would be in the ICU, not standing around smoking like Samuel.

"Do you have something to say?" Natalie said, "Just take Susan and Helen back. I don't want to get involved in the Hastings family matters."

Because Susan had donated bone marrow to Lucas, Natalie wasn't planning to take action against her for now.

"Natalie, I'm sorry," Samuel said earnestly.

Natalie looked at him, puzzled. What was wrong with him now? He had apologized to her out of the blue once before.

Seeing that Samuel had nothing specific to say to her but seemed to have something to discuss with Oliver, Natalie left to find Lucas and Lilian to share the good news about the surgery.

"What do you want to say?" Oliver asked impatiently.

Samuel lowered his eyes. "I'm very sorry."

Oliver curled his lips into a mocking smile. "What's the use of apologizing to me? Samuel, there is no need to cry over the spilled milk. In your heart, Natalie is still not as important as those few people in the Hastings family."

The truth about Natalie and Susan's identity swap was discovered by Samuel even before Oliver did. Although Samuel didn't fully uncover it and gave up halfway, he had guessed most of it, which was close to the actual facts.

Oliver knew Samuel's capabilities well and didn't think Samuel was completely in the dark.

Samuel showed a pained and struggling expression. "Oliver, if I had another chance, I would still do the same."

Revealing the truth would only add trouble to the Hastings family and immediately make Helen support Natalie. Oliver would always protect Natalie there. However, Samuel's elders in the Hastings family, no matter how wrong they were, were still the ones who raised him.

Caleb's education was very successful to some degree. It instilled in Samuel a strong sense of family preservation. Even though Samuel usually seemed indifferent to the Hastings family and appeared to choose Natalie over them, he still held a place for his elders in the Hastings family. In critical moments, he would choose to protect the Hastings family.

Samuel originally wanted to preserve the last bit of dignity and humanity for the Hastings family, but in the end, it was all destroyed.

Not by Oliver, but by James and Helen themselves.

"Oliver, I owe Natalie for this, but can you not tell her?" Samuel looked at Oliver with a pleading expression.

Mr. Hastings, once a proud figure, now found himself in a position of begging.

Oliver stared at Samuel for a moment and then agreed.

"I'm doing this for Natalie." Oliver aimed to prevent Natalie from being hurt and keep her from knowing that her brother Samuel, whom she had finally accepted, finally chose his other family members in such a critical moment.

Samuel felt a sense of relief. "I understand."

Lucas' surgery was scheduled for 7 a.m. the next day.

Shortly after Lucas entered the operating room, the hospital's security personnel rushed over.

"Mr. Windsor and Mrs. Windsor, there's trouble. A lot of media have surrounded the hospital!"

"For what reason?" Oliver asked.

"They're saying that you and Mrs. Windsor forced Susan to donate bone marrow, comparing your actions to those in the illegal organ trade. Now, so-called evidence is circulating online. Everyone is demanding that you should be brought to justice."
