Chapter 1156 Anthony, You Really Dare to Say That
"Anthony, you really dare to say that." Jane could only muster these few words after a long while.
It was the first time she had seen someone so straightforwardly admit their own calculations.
Anthony handed Jane a glass of water and asked, "Did I scare you?"
"No." Jane would never admit that.
At most, she was just shocked.
"Good." Anthony was very satisfied with this answer. Not being scared meant they could continue the conversation.
Even though Jane had initiated this talk, Anthony quickly took control.
He asked Jane, "So, what are you thinking now?"
Jane thought to herself, 'Is this how he starts over? Is there a Q&A session? You state your purpose, and then I state my feelings?'
Jane's complaining look were probably too obvious, and Anthony belatedly realized his way of speaking was inappropriate.
He rephrased, "Jane, you asked to break up with me, and I have accepted that. You wanted to leave me, and I have respected your choice. All the past mistakes were my fault, but I want to pursue you again, which is a fresh start, would you accept it?"
"Your fault?" Jane was genuinely puzzled. "What do you think you did wrong?"
Jane had known Anthony for so many years, she had heard him say sorry, but she had never seen him seriously reflect.
"Everything you were unhappy with was my fault." Anthony looked at Jane's delicate face and said, "After all, the princess never makes mistakes."
Jane thought carefully for a long time.
When she had completely broken up with Anthony, she didn't actually resent him.
Jovan had once asked her if she would regret it.
Jane said no.
Given the circumstances at the time, she couldn't face Anthony anymore, nor could she face herself for not protecting the child, even for killing the child with her own hands.
Leaving was the best way out she could think of, and it was also her retreat.
Jane always felt that her relationship with Anthony was a mistake.
Since it was a mistake, it should end and be corrected.
During the time without Anthony, Jane didn't feel she was living badly.
Everything was orderly and normal. Even if she occasionally heard news about him, she could handle it with a calm heart.
But today, she heard information completely different from what she had imagined. Knowing Anthony's thoughts and attitude, she didn't seem to resist it in her heart.
A fresh start, this was something Jane might be able to accept.
"Jane, what are you thinking?" Lester's voice pulled Jane back to reality.
The other team members were all looking at her.
During the meeting, the team members noticed Jane was frequently distracted.
Jane originally wanted to confirm the schedule for the next few days, but her scattered thoughts made her give up.
After finishing work, Jane brought up a personal matter. "Let me ask you something, what do you do when you can't make a decision?"
"Talk to friends," One of the girls answered.
Jane immediately dismissed this suggestion.
Because whether it was her brother Jovan, or her friends Natalie and Flora, no matter what decision she made, they would unconditionally support her.
In times when she needed advice and decisions, they had no reference value.
Jane thought she might as well go for a walk, just to gather some inspiration.
Coincidentally, the next day's schedule was to shoot the sunrise and the starry sky. A light rain fell in the early morning, so there was no sunrise, and Jane's group had the day off.
Documentaries about nature had many uncertainties, and weather was one of them. In the past, Jane was delayed for half a month due to weather.
After the rain stopped, the sky cleared.
Jane wrapped herself up tightly, prepared for sun protection, and rented an off-road vehicle from the hotel to go out.
Jane wandered around and took a few good photos.
As she walked, she suddenly stopped.
She saw Anthony wearing a light casual outfit, sunglasses on his nose, hands in his pockets, standing silently.
Even through the sunglasses, Jane could feel Anthony looking at her.
"I heard from your colleagues that you came here alone, so I was worried," Anthony explained as Jane approached.
He never used to explain his actions.
Jane was momentarily unaccustomed to this Anthony.
"I'm just wandering around. I heard this place is famous, so I came to take a look." Jane said.
Anthony blocked Jane with one hand and asked, "Jane, why don't you dare to look me in the eyes?"
"Who says I don't?" Jane immediately looked up and met Anthony's probing gaze.
Jane's reaction actually exposed that she had indeed subconsciously avoided Anthony's gaze earlier.
"Jane, did my words last night scare you?" Anthony asked.
