Chapter 123 Taking You to Arrange the Engagement Banquet

Oliver wore nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, his chiseled chest glistening with water droplets. The V-line disappeared beneath the towel, revealing six of his solid eight-pack abs.

He could tell that Natalie was not sleeping, her breaths irregular.

In less than forty-eight hours, she had visibly lost weight. Her already slender face had grown even thinner, bearing the signs of exhaustion from her illness.

Standing by the bed, Oliver leaned down and planted a gentle kiss on Natalie's forehead.

"I will take you to the engagement party tonight," Oliver said.

Natalie kept her eyes closed and stayed silent, not agreeing or objecting. After all, she got used to his bossy and controlling nature, and speaking her mind would only be a waste of words.

Seeing Natalie's indifference, Oliver felt disheartened. Then, he left the room to call Charles.

Jane was very worried about Natalie but did not want to contact her recklessly.

Surprisingly, Charles called her, asking her to speak to Natalie.

Jane agreed and got into the Bentley sent by Charles.

Although she grew up in high society and was used to fancy houses, the beauty and design of Rosewood Estate still amazed her.

"Jane, come this way, please."

Liam personally greeted Jane and led her into the main building.

Jane did not like Natalie's husband, Oliver, because of what he did to Natalie, but when she saw the tall man standing by the window, she was stunned.

"Windsor?!"

A barrage of thoughts rushed into Jane's head, and she could not help but connect the handsome man with the masked one she had seen at the hospital.

"Are you Oliver?"

"How perceptive of you."

Jane looked at him with hostility and caution.

Who would have thought that the rumored unattractive and weak man had such striking beauty and talent?

Natalie, who was still awake, heard someone knocking on the door.

The door opened a crack, and a servant said, "Young Madam, Miss Jane is here. Should I bring her in, or do you want to come out and see her?"

‘Jane?!’

Surprised, Natalie jumped out of bed and ran outside. She saw a familiar figure in the hallway.

The elegant woman wore a black dress, facing Oliver.

"Jane!"

Although they only met a few days ago, Natalie could not contain her excitement at seeing Jane here. She went down the spiral staircase.

Natalie had not fully recovered, and after a few steps down the stairs, she felt unsteady. Her legs gave way, and she was about to fall, but she bumped into a hard chest. Before she could react, she was lifted off the ground, and Oliver's slightly angry voice came from above her head.

"Why did you run? Where are your shoes?"

"I forgot."

"You haven't changed your clothes either."

Natalie ignored Oliver and looked at Jane.

Jane stood in place and smiled at her.

Natalie smiled, letting go of her earlier indifference toward Oliver.

Oliver frowned. He suppressed his anger and had a servant get shoes and a shawl before he carried Natalie to the sofa and wrapped her in a thin blanket.

Throughout the process, he had a dark expression, and when he finished, he went upstairs with an even darker expression.

Jane raised an eyebrow, unsure if Oliver's care was genuine or an act.

“Jane, why are you here?"

Natalie was pleasantly surprised but soon realized a problem: Oliver didn't wear his mask just now!

"Jane, you… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to keep it from you…"

Natalie pointed in the direction of Oliver's departure upstairs, feeling apologetic.

At this moment, a servant served fresh imported fruits and pastries.

"It's okay, we don't need to apologize to each other."
Jane fully understood Natalie's need for discretion. The secret Oliver guarded so closely, anyone who voluntarily revealed it would be courting danger, and anyone who happened to know a secret they shouldn't would also be in danger.

"I never expected Oliver to hide so deeply."

Jane thought of Isaac and Wyatt's deference to Oliver and felt even more terrified of Oliver.

To keep such a significant secret and possess such formidable capabilities, all while preventing even a whisper from leaking out over the years, was truly impressive.

"Are you feeling better now?"

Jane observed Natalie, who appeared to be in good spirits but still bore the signs of illness.

"Yes, much better. It was just a fever, nothing serious."

Natalie did not want Jane to worry.

Natalie refrained from bringing up Oliver's appearance at the bar, and Jane did not ask about it.

Jane knew that matters of the heart between husband and wife were not something a best friend had the right to interfere with. When it came to affairs of the heart, outsiders should tread carefully.

"Jane, why are you here..." Natalie asked again.

Jane picked up a piece of fruit and began to eat, skillfully glossing over the subject, saying, "Oliver said you were in a bad mood and asked me to keep you company."

At the same time, she thought to herself angrily, ‘Although he’s handsome, what he did was despicable! On second thought, there’s nothing surprising about it. Anthony was the same, right? He successfully made me fall in love with him while he treated me like a fool!’

Meanwhile, Natalie's heart skipped a beat. Oliver allowed Jane to enter Rosewood Estate because she was in a bad mood? Although she did not dare to speculate on his intentions, she knew the significance of this act.

She looked toward the stairs, refraining from passing judgment on the man for now.

Jane was not Rosy; even if Oliver invited her to Rosewood Estate, she would never speak favorably of him in Natalie's presence.

As they conversed and indulged in treats for two hours, Oliver remained conspicuously absent. It wasn't until Natalie started to tire that Jane decided it was time to bid farewell.

"You're not feeling well, so don't worry about seeing me off. Just stay seated."

Natalie attempted to rise, but Jane gently pushed her back onto the sofa.

Natalie's cheeks reddened. "You know about it?"

"Your walking posture is not quite right."

Jane refrained from mentioning her own visit to the hospital, as it would involve Clint, the one who gathered information for her.

It was originally an ordinary topic for adults, but Natalie's embarrassment made it seem scandalous and shady.
