Chapter 1010 Richard Foster was Perfect for Marriage
Richard was tall, upright, and elegant, wearing a black turtleneck cashmere sweater with a coat over it. He didn't carry luggage. Richard was so tall that he only needed to move his eyes to look around.
So, his eyes easily spotted Jane, and their gazes met.
'What is Richard doing here?
'Could the person Jovan arranged for me be Richard?' Jane thought.
With his long legs, Richard had already walked up to Jane while her mind was still blank.
"Car 1, seat 5B," Richard said to Jane with a gentle smile. "Ms. Watkins, what's your seat number?"
"3A." Jane was completely stunned, but at the same time, she felt relieved.
'5B and 3A.There is still a row apart.,' Jane thought.
"Mr. Foster, you wouldn't happen to be..." Jane didn't finish her sentence, unsure if Richard was the person Jovan had sent or if it was just a coincidence.
Richard nodded, "Jovan asked me to escort you."
Jane felt a bit embarrassed, because the head of the Foster family could act as her bodyguard.
"Well..." Jane raised the ticket in her hand, trying to dissuade Richard. "I'm not going back to Paykston right now. I plan to spend a few days in Fae City. Since you're busy with work, I don't want to take up your time. Maybe I should just tell my brother to hire a bodyguard for me."
Jane's refusal was very clear, but Richard completely missed it and said, "I'm not busy for the next few days. Wherever you want to go, I'll cover the expenses."
Richard added, "I'm Jovan's friend, so I'm also like your brother. This time, it counts as your brother accompanying you."
With Richard saying this much, Jane had to accept her fate reluctantly.
Jane thought she might consider praying at a famous church in Fae City after the mess with Aurora and now the encounter with Richard.
To Jane's right sat a woman in her thirties, and the other nearby seats were occupied by men.
The seat next to Richard was empty, but there were people behind him; all of them were men.
At first, Jane didn't think much of it, but when she closed her eyes to rest, she realized something was off. All the seats around her and Richard were taken.
The trip from Southvale to Fae City wasn't far, so it was expected that people would get on and off at various stops, but no one did near them.
Moreover, only the seat next to Jane was occupied by a woman, the rest were men.
Except for Jane and Richard, the other people were nondescript.
This perfectly fit the profile of bodyguards.
To confirm her suspicion, Jane quietly stood up and looked back.
Richard's seat was reclined, and he was resting with his eyes closed, completely relaxed.
Someone with Richard's status wouldn't be able to relax like this without his security personnel around.
It also justify that the people around them were Richard's men.
Just as Jane was about to sit back down, Richard suddenly opened his eyes and caught her gaze.
"Ms. Watkins, is there something you need?" Richard asked politely.
"No, nothing."
Jane quickly sat down.
Although Richard's tone was polite and gentle, even somewhat warm, Jane felt a sense of embarrassment, as if she had been caught daydreaming in class by a teacher. She still remembered him as a strict "disciplinarian" when she was growing up.
All the people around were Richard's men. Richard could have easily sat next to Jane, but he didn't.
He gave Jane her space.
Jane breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but admire Richard's thoughtfulness.
The scenery outside the window sped by.
Jane took out the broken jade bracelet and held up the largest piece to the sunlight.
It was crystal clear, without any impurities.
After wearing it for three years, her wrist suddenly felt empty and her heart felt a little hollow too.
"Fae City, next stop!"
The train's announcement indicated they had arrived.
Jane stood up to get her luggage, but the woman next to her carried it first and politely asked, "Ms. Watkins, do you mind if I carry this for you?"
She no longer hid her identity.
Jane smiled and thanked her.
It was a spontaneous decision to go to Fae City, so Jane hadn't made any preparations.
But outside the station, several cars were already waiting, all Volkswagen Phaetons.
"What are you smiling at?" Richard asked as he opened the car door for Jane, noticing the obvious smile in her eyes.
Jane tilted her head and curiously asked Richard, "Mr. Foster, you can't be older than my brother, right? The understated luxury taste is just..."
"Like a man in his forties?" Richard finished Jane's sentence and laughed.
Richard's smile brought warmth and comfort, just like the spring breeze, making him very likable, and Jane couldn't help but take another look.
But what Jane didn't know was that Richard never showed this side to anyone else but her.
"I didn't say that," Jane laughed and got into the car.
The other bodyguards also got into the cars one after another.
Seeing these cars, Jane already knew that Richard had arranged everything on the way here, including the hotel, so she didn't need to worry about it.
'I don't need to be overly polite with Richard since he came under Jovan's name. Being too polite would seem forced,' Jane thought.
The hotel they checked into was a local five-star hotel.
Jane checked in and went to her suite.
After a while, a staff member knocked on the door, holding a tray and handing it to Jane. "Ma'am, these are from the gentleman traveling with you."
Those were an ice pack, a towel, and some anti-inflammatory ointment.
Jane turned and saw her reflection in the mirror on the shoe cabinet. Her left cheek still had visible finger marks,
Richard had noticed that but didn't ask or say anything, instead providing everything Jane needed.
After thinking about everything during the journey, Jane suddenly understood why Jovan had chosen Richard out of so many men back then.
'It isn't just because Richard is Jovan's friend and he knows his character.
'It is also because Richard is truly suitable as a partner, perfect for marriage,' Jane thought.
Unable to make calls on the plane, Anthony immediately received a message from Clint as soon as he arrived at Paykston International Airport, asking him to contact him as soon as he landed.
The message seemed urgent.
"Speak," Anthony said, calling back.
Clint's voice sounded guilty. "Mr. Clark, shortly after your plane took off, we found out that Ms. Watkins never boarded the plane."
