Chapter 751 Are You All Hiding Something from Me?
"Am I really fat? Then I need to lose weight. After all, the only advantage I have is being good-looking," Lilian muttered to herself.
Lucas was speechless. He wondered if he had teased her too much that she developed such a distorted perception of herself.
…
Upon arriving at the hotel, Lucas approached the front desk to check in and presented his identification. He was informed that a room had already been reserved.
"Who made the reservation?" Lucas suspected it was Natalie's doing.
The front desk receptionist replied, "Mr. Watson, your room is a single suite. You can invite your friends to join you, but they can’t stay overnight, especially if they’re very young."
When the receptionist mentioned 'very young', she glanced at Lilian pointedly.
Lilian looked younger than she was, and the receptionist could not determine her age. She was merely following the instructions from the person who made the reservation.
Confused, Lilian wondered if she had been mistaken for being underage.
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows and asked again, "Who made the reservation?"
The receptionist replied, "It was Mr. Oliver."
'Ah, so it was Oliver…'
Lucas closed his eyes, holding back the urge to curse Oliver. He could scold Oliver, but he needed to exercise caution. However, the more he thought about it, the angrier he became, particularly when he saw Lilian covering her mouth, laughing. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"Hehe, I'm laughing because even if I drink coffee, tonight you can only join me for games!" Lilian giggled.
'What should I do? I feel like swearing!'
Lucas grew increasingly annoyed. Oliver was not just with his sister, but he was also now an obstacle on his road to love! Not only that, but the person next to him was still foolishly laughing at him.
Lilian's laughter had not yet subsided when she was suddenly kissed in the elevator by someone. Her blue eyes widened slightly, but her gaze soon softened. She then closed her eyes and responded to his kiss.
"7th floor," the mechanical female voice in the elevator announced.
Lucas was rather open-minded and did not think that kissing in the elevator was improper. After all, he was kissing his girlfriend, and they were alone in the elevator. However, there was a concern. This elevator was in the hotel where his sister worked!
Lucas worried that someone familiar with Lilian might witness this scene and then inform his sister, so he quickly hid Lilian's face in his chest and turned to scan the area for any onlookers.
In the next moment, Lucas thought, 'It's over.'
Natalie appeared expressionless as she looked into the elevator. Then her gaze shifted downward to Lilian. Although her face was completely hidden, Lilian was still wearing the same outfit she had on earlier, and Natalie recognized it.
At the critical moment, the elevator's infrared sensors detected no one else entering and automatically began to close the doors.
Natalie pressed the 'open' button, and the doors that had not completely shut reopened.
Lilian felt Lucas' body tense. Sensing that something was amiss, she sneaked a peek with one eye. She immediately became frightened and hiccupped.
Natalie looked at both her brother and his girlfriend with an expression that seemed to ask, 'How are you going to explain this?'
"Natalie, this... is a misunderstanding, Do you believe me?" Lilian asked as she slowly stepped out of Lucas' embrace, her mind racing. She had plucked this phrase from novels where it was commonly used by characters caught in compromising situations. However, she forgot that such a line was often spoken by foolish characters and rarely had any beneficial effect.
Dinner had just ended not too long ago, and everyone was highly satisfied, praising the meal!
The head chef, whom Oliver had hired from a five-star hotel, was exceptionally skilled at blending Western flavors with his unique twist.
Natalie briefly engaged with the younger members of the party, then left them to enjoy themselves as she left to intercept her brother. Unexpectedly, not only did she see her brother earlier than expected, but she also witnessed him kissing Lilian.
Natalie had intended to show mercy, but then she noticed Lucas casually draping his coat over the suitcase. It was the same coat Lilian’s boyfriend had worn when she had previously encountered Lilian’s 'boyfriend'. At that time, she had suspected that he might have ulterior motives, perhaps valuing Lilian's affluent family background. She had been worried about whether he might hurt Lilian and was prepared to beat him up if necessary. As it turned out, Lilian’s boyfriend was her younger brother.
…
Ten minutes later.
Lucas, typically arrogant, now sat obediently on the sofa in the suite, with Lilian beside him. Both of them were sitting up straight. Both of them felt as though they were about to face parental opposition.
This was something Lilian had never experienced from her own parents. They had always indulged her; any problem she could handle on her own was not considered a problem. Even if there were problems, her parents and cousin were there to support her.
"What do you have to say for yourselves?"
Natalie, pondering their recent return from the airport, poured a glass of water for each of them.
"Natalie, is this glass of water... you’re not going to pour it on me, are you?" Lilian asked cautiously and earnestly.
Natalie was rendered speechless by the girl who seemed to live in the world of soap operas and novels. She ignored that question and turned to Lucas before she said, "If you don’t know how to start, then let me ask. Are both of you dating? When did it start?"
Lucas paused for a moment before responding, "It’s been... about a month or two."
'That long? Earlier than when I ran into them at the mall? How did they hide it so well?'
Natalie began to question her own observational skills.
"Alright, I was blind this time," she conceded before asking again, "Did you intentionally hide this from me?"
Lucas was prepared to deny it, ready to say, 'No, if you had asked, I definitely would’ve told you.’
However, before he could speak, Lilian interjected, saying, "Yes, because we were afraid you would scold Lucas. What if you got too angry and hit him?"
Lucas was taken aback.
'Okay, game over.'
Natalie chuckled coldly before she looked at her brother and said, "It seems like you really understand me."
"Natalie, you… Don’t be mad," Lucas said, trailing off, not knowing how to proceed.
On one hand, he did not want to anger his sister, and on the other, he could not give up on Lilian.
After a moment, he said, "I know that the relationship between Lilian and me is a bit... awkward. You and Oliver are husband and wife, and I'm with her. There will definitely be a lot of gossip outside, but I..."
"Do you think I’d be angry because of some gossip?" Natalie interrupted him sharply, "I am angry that both of you have kept this from me, deliberately hiding it from me!"
