Chapter 935 She Is My Light
Susan never expected this fact.
Her bone marrow was forcibly taken. Lucas was saved, and Natalie and Oliver were unharmed. Even Roger got away unscathed!
That so-called Mr. Watson didn’t even exist at all.
Susan was outraged and went to the police to file a complaint, only to be informed that Roger had a dissociative identity disorder. The individual who attacked her was his alter personality, completely separate from his other persona. The psychologist had already confirmed that only one personality was present in Roger's body.
The killer disappeared, and the case was closed. Susan was stunned and she had nothing left.
With no bone marrow to save Lucas's life as leverage, no protection from the Hastings family, and no favoritism from Helen, what did she have? In her anguish, Susan grabbed at her hair. Then, a sudden burst of inspiration struck her—Leonard!
Her fiancéé, Leonard!
Susan quickly dialed Leonard's number, and the only response from the other end was a cold "Hello."
But Susan didn't notice anything unusual. She urgently said, " Leonard, when are we getting married? Haven't you always wanted my body? I'll give it to you, you..."
"No, I don’t." Leonard interrupted Susan, somewhat impatient.
Susan didn’t mind it. She said, " Leonard, we are engaged. As a couple, we should face everything together. I’ll be a good wife! I...."
"Do you know why I got engaged to you?" Leonard interrupted Susan again.
Susan could already hear the coldness and impatience in Leonard's tone.
"Don't you like me?" Susan wasn't sure how Leonard felt about her now, but when they got together and decided to get engaged, it was Leonard who made the first move.
If Leonard didn’t like her, Susan couldn't think of any other reason.
Susan believed Leonard was deeply in love with her until he started causing trouble, revealing that his feelings were not as genuine as she thought.
"Susan, you really aren't very bright."
Leonard sneered. Now that Susan held no value for him, he saw no need to pretend and decided to speak his mind.
"Susan, if it weren't for your connection to Natalie, I wouldn't have given you a second glance."
" Do you also dislike Natalie?" Susan exclaimed with joy. "Then we should team up. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and we make quite the pair!”
"She is my ray of light from childhood." Leonard explained. "Susan, I chose you to get closer to Natalie through you." Leonard had believed that someone as insincere as Susan might form a superficial friendship with Natalie. Even if they didn't become friends, if they became enemies, he could still have more contact with Natalie.
Leonard didn't care what his identity was when interacting with Natalie.
Leonard just wanted to appear in front of Natalie often, to let her know his existence .
Unknown to Natalie, the young boy in front of the manor had already become the head of a family as an adopted son.
Susan stood frozen, as if struck by lightning.
"Natalie?" After a long while, Susan finally made a sound.
"Yes." Leonard said bluntly and without any pretense, "Otherwise, what do you think, Susan? What could I like about you? Your stupidity?"
Susan felt as if her entire body had been filled with ice, chilling her to the bone and soul. She couldn't comprehend why Natalie appeared to be a curse hovering around her. In the past, Susan would have been consumed by hatred.
But now, besides hate, Susan felt more fear and terror. Leonard didn't want her anymore, so who could make Natalie and Oliver spare her?
Lucas had taken a break from school. Once his condition improved, he was discharged for recovery. Instead of going back to his rented apartment, he went to Lilian's place in Paykston.
Lilian's original words were that because he had thought about breaking up, so she needed to keep an eye on him at all times to prevent him from being seduced by other women.
Natalie's apartment was the one she had purchased for Lilian using Oliver's funds. Subsequently, Lilian's father acquired the neighboring apartment. As the wall between the two units was not load-bearing, they obtained permission from the developer and enlisted a renovation company to demolish the partition, merging the two apartments into one and renovating the space.
The organization had initially been anticipating Lucas's return to the villa they had arranged for his recovery, complete with specialized caregivers. However, unexpectedly, Lucas moved into Lilian's apartment without informing anyone.
Lilian went out to get a package. When Lucas heard the doorbell, he thought it was Lilian. But his smile froze the moment he opened the door.
