Chapter 919 Your Responsibility is Mine

To find Susan as soon as possible, Oliver temporarily settled in Tycoon City.

On the other side of the video call, Natalie held a baby Nathan with a layer of fuzzy black hair, exuding an ethereal elegance, her eyes incredibly gentle. "Oliver, don't you think Nathan's hair is a bit strange?" Natalie held her son up to the camera.

Nathan, seeing Oliver on the tablet screen, stared with wide, curious eyes.

Oliver curved his lips slightly, his mood finally lifting a bit after being disturbed by Susan all day.

"It is a bit strange," Oliver said. "Pretty ugly. Like a girl."

Natalie thought, ‘Who talks about their own son like that?’

Maybe it was the distance of the computer screen that softened Oliver's mocking tone, but Nathan didn't make a sound to refute Oliver. He just kept staring at the screen with wide eyes, occasionally furrowing his little brows, as if deep in thought.

Nathan was probably wondering if this Oliver was real.

"Dummy," Oliver continued to tease Nathan.

Natalie glared at Oliver. "Nathan is very smart."

"If he smiles when I say he looks like a girl, what else could he be but a dummy?" Oliver teased.

"He's only six months old. He doesn't understand that. I'm talking about something serious!" Natalie worriedly stroked Nathan's little golden hair. Both Natalie and Oliver had distinct Western features, so why did Nathan have black hair?

Not that black hair wasn't good-looking but it was almost too striking.

With parents as good-looking as Oliver and Natalie, Nathan was bound to grow up to be a very handsome man.

"My mother had black hair," Oliver explained.

"Oh!" Natalie suddenly understood, realizing it was a case of genetic inheritance.

Natalie never had the chance to meet Oliver's mother, Hillary. She had only seen photos of her. By then, Hillary had already dyed her hair, which wasn't as strikingly black.

After chatting with Oliver for a bit, Natalie had to change the subject. "Any leads on Susan?"

"Yes." Oliver paused for a few seconds.

"Oliver, tell me the truth and I don't want to be kept in the dark," Natalie licked her lips and asked, "Is the situation not looking good?"

"Yes, she was taken. But we can't find out by whom."

If even Oliver and Samuel together couldn't find out, then the other party was definitely not a small player and had planned this meticulously!

"Natalie, I'm sorry."

Natalie was stunned for a few seconds by Oliver's sudden apology. "Why are you apologizing to me?"

Natalie suddenly had a guess and asked uncertainly, "Is it because of Lucas?"

"Yes," Oliver rubbed his forehead and said honestly, "Susan..."

"Oliver," Natalie interrupted him, looking gently at Oliver on the other side of the screen, "Whether we find Susan or not, whether she donates bone marrow or not, it's not your fault. And to be honest, Lucas isn't your responsibility either."

"Natalie, your responsibility is mine." Oliver originally wanted to say that Lucas wasn't her responsibility either. And if anyone was responsible, it should be Susan first. But he didn't dare say that, because Natalie would get angry.

Suddenly, there was an urgent knock on the door.

Oliver told Natalie to hold on for a moment and went to open the door, seeing Samuel with a worried expression.

"Natalie, something's come up here. I have to go."

As soon as the video call ended, Samuel spoke up, "The news about Susan being kidnapped has leaked. Those opponents waiting for you to slip up are all aware. I can't keep it under control."

"How did they find out?" Oliver asked, frowning.

"Oliver, is the point right now how they found out?" Samuel was exasperated and frustrated. "Soon, there will be all sorts of rumors about you out there. It is rumored that you used your power to imprison someone, forced someone to donate bone marrow, or disregarded human life!"

Oliver didn't care about what Samuel was saying and continued, "The news about Susan being kidnapped is only known to us. We didn't tell anyone. So who could have told them?"

Samuel, reminded by Oliver, quickly calmed down.

"Then it must be either the person who kidnapped Susan or Susan herself!"

"Right." Oliver tapped the edge of the shoe cabinet absentmindedly, clearly deep in thought.

Samuel, thinking aloud, spoke slowly, "If the person who took Susan leaked the news, their goal is to smear you. So, the person who took Susan should be one of your rivals."

"Could Susan, under control, have leaked the news herself?" Oliver asked.

Oliver didn't believe in Samuel's guess. If it were a rival trying to bring him down, his people should have found out by now. Since they were rivals, they were familiar with each other's forces, and the trail wouldn't just go cold.

Samuel stared silently at Oliver, blinking. "It's possible. Caleb and the others made thorough preparations against you. They might have given Susan an alert device to send out a message in an emergency. This device was originally kept by Helen, and she might have given it to Susan."

Oliver's eyes turned cold and deep, like an ancient well that could swallow people whole.

Samuel trembled his heart and began to doubt whether he could persuade Oliver not to act against Helen.

"Don't worry. I won't touch her for now." Oliver saw through Samuel's thoughts.

Samuel had just breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the icy man say, "I'll make her regret it to the point of wanting to die."

Samuel's guess was correct. That night, rumors about "Oliver kidnapping Susan", "Oliver imprisoning Susan", and "Oliver forcing Susan to donate bone marrow" spread like wildfire. The internet was abuzz with discussions, and some netizens had already started condemning Oliver.

The stocks of the RisingKing Group and the Windsor Group both plummeted.

Collin, not knowing what was going on, had no choice but to find Natalie.
