Chapter 239 Seeking Vengeance from the Wronged Spirit

"Did you see that? The woman in the red dress up ahead is Adrian's new woman, carrying the Harrington’s child!"

"It's the fault of the Harrington family. There is no need to break off the engagement just because there's a woman outside who got pregnant. In the end, it's just because they look down on Hailey's reputation. Adrian himself isn't any better."

"I heard that Hailey couldn't bear it and almost caused that mistress to have a miscarriage. And Hailey almost killed someone!"

"Kill someone? Who?"

"I'm not sure, it's just something I heard."

"Edwin, what are you doing?!" Henry's face turned ugly. He hadn't paid much attention to his second son's potential companion, but he never expected him to bring Hailey back!

"Dad, I brought her here just out of pity for Miss Watson. She wanted to meet..." Edwin explained, glancing at Adrian.

Adrian and Victoria looked extremely displeased.

"Adrian, I haven't done anything wrong. Why don't you want me anymore?" Hailey stuttered. If one looked closely, her eyes were cold and empty.

Those were the words Edwin asked her to say.

She did things for Edwin, and Edwin sought revenge for her!

"You know what you did yourself!" Adrian rebuked angrily. If it hadn't been for Hailey's inability to accept Lyra and her unborn child or her foolishly provoking Natalie and Oliver, he might have reluctantly married her.

Having the engagement canceled was all Hailey's fault!

"What do you mean by this, Edwin?" Victoria suppressed her anger. "I don't believe I've done anything to wrong you. Father has treated you extremely well, and yet you bring this troublemaker back on the day of his grand birthday party!"

"Edwin, take her away!" Henry ordered, furious.

Hailey had lost her arrogance after enduring torment for so long. Even a single shout from Henry made her afraid, and she shrunk back behind Edwin.

The guests sighed sympathetically. How pitiful!

"Dad, Victoria already has her hands full with family matters, and Oliver is not even at home. Is it fair to assign the building materials market that belongs to Oliver to Victoria? It's not only unfair to Oliver, but it also increases Victoria's burden, don't you think?" Edwin said, smiling politely.

Victoria gritted her teeth. What burden? It's obvious that they just don't want her to have that construction market!

Arthur is willing to live or die for the sake of a woman, completely disregarding the family's financial situation.

Henry harbors no fondness for Oliver, and, in the end, Arthur's possessions were devalued by Edwin .

Edwin brought Hailey here to slap Victoria's face. After all, Henry giving the construction market to Victoria at a time like this was indeed unreasonable.

Most importantly, this matter was already unfair, and there were so many important guests watching!

"Dad! We had an agreement before," Victoria pleaded pitifully. "And this is not just helping me, but also helping your grandson and great-grandson."

"Edwin, Victoria is your sister! Her mother entrusted me to take good care of her before she passed away," Henry whispered to Edwin.

The Harrington family is currently on the decline, with RK Group assuming control of the three lucrative sectors, leaving the remaining assets poorly managed. If Henry doesn't intervene to assist, Watson Group will have to file for bankruptcy in less than a month.

Natalie shivered. Despite being in her forties, Victoria displayed a remarkably spoiled and pitiful demeanor, showcasing an impressive level of audacity with her thick skin.

As soon as Henry finished speaking, Natalie heard a low, cold laugh from Oliver, sending shivers down her spine.

His light brown eyes narrowed, locking onto Henry and Victoria as if he saw two pieces of trash!

Henry glanced at his beloved daughter. He couldn't openly criticize Edwin in front of so many guests, but he also wanted to help his daughter, so he glared fiercely at Edwin several times to hint at him.

He always thought that his son was obedient, sensible, and easily controlled. How did he become so cunning today!

Edwin maintained a polite smile on the surface, but his heart was full of disdain. He knew exactly how his father treated him.

His mother garnered only a brief period of favor from Henry due to a faint resemblance to Victoria's mother. Henry's feelings toward his son were not characterized by deep affection, but it certainly surpassed the disdain he harbored for Oliver and his brothers.

The only one Henry liked was Victoria, his daughter!

Despite Oliver enjoying the robust support of the Norton family, Edwin lacked such influential backing. Thus, he feigned obedience and a well-behaved demeanor from a young age, biding his time for a strategic strike when they least expected it!

"Father, I have prepared a gift for you." Oliver, who had watched enough, finally led Natalie forward.

"Oh? What gift?" Henry showed a pleasant expression toward Oliver for the first time because Oliver's appearance undoubtedly diverted attention from the conflict between Victoria and Edwin.

Natalie looked at Oliver and remembered Mr. Liam's reaction earlier. She could feel that something was amiss.

Oliver glanced at Charles, who respectfully stepped forward and presented a black gift box.

A black box? Black is a powerful color, but Natalie found it a bit strange. A gift box for a birthday celebration shouldn't be black, right?

Henry didn't think much and opened it with a smile. The next moment, his smile froze on his face and was instantly replaced by fear. "Ah! Bastard!"

The gift inside the box fell to the ground, rolling twice. The ruby on it shimmered brightly, resembling blood. It was a magnificent dagger. The blade was sharp, gleaming with a cold light.

"What do you mean by this?!" Henry pointed at Oliver's nose, his fingertip trembling with rage and fear.

Natalie was also startled, but anyone with keen eyes could tell that this dagger was invaluable, an exquisite gift.

Henry was so terrified; he must have had something to hide!

"I heard that Hillary used a dagger to end her life back then!" someone in the crowd said.

"Really? Could it be this one?" another person exclaimed, full of astonishment and gossip.

Natalie's heart skipped a beat. Hillary was Oliver's mother.

"Father, what are you afraid of? I won't kill you." Beneath the icy silver mask, the young man smiled lightly, devoid of any warmth in his eyes. "Are you afraid that I'll kill you, or are you afraid of vengeful spirits?"

"Oliver, what nonsense are you talking about?!" Henry shouted, pointing at several bodyguards. "You! Throw him out!"

The bodyguards stood in place as if they hadn't heard anything, stationary.

They were the people that Oliver had arranged in the old mansion. Of course, they wouldn't listen to Henry and harm Oliver.

Oliver scornfully smirked.

"Please don't act impulsively." Natalie tugged at Oliver's clothes, urgently advising him near his ear.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
