Chapter 1126 Ugly and Troublesome

As soon as Jane entered the studio, she heard the voice.

Melissa, a woman in a red dress with delicate makeup, was sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed. Her features were quite refined, but her impatient arrogance was really off-putting.

Jane found her somewhat familiar, as if she had seen Melissa's photo while browsing the news.

Lester confirmed Jane's suspicion. "Jane, this is Melissa. She dares to act so high and mighty in front of you. She is just like I said—no good!"

Jane almost laughed at Lester's comment but knew he was just standing up for her, which was why he didn't like Melissa. Jane didn't mind much.

She was always very tolerant of her people.

"The photographer is here!" a staff member suddenly shouted, as if seeing a savior.

Before Jane could speak, Melissa's assistant preemptively pointed at Jane's nose and said, "What's your name? How dare you keep Ms. Butler waiting for so long? If you don't want the job, just say so. There are plenty of people willing to replace you!"

Lester's eyelid twitched as he glanced at Jane.

Jane hadn't had anyone show off in front of her for years, but she considered herself to have mellowed out over the years, so she carefully checked the time.

It was 9:16:07 a.m.

"Our appointment was at 9:30. I arrived 13 minutes and 53 seconds early. Now it's 9:17." Jane asked very politely, "Am I late?"

But her extremely cold expression seemed to say, "You arrived early yourself. What does that have to do with me?"

Melissa stood up angrily, pointing at Jane's nose and questioning, "What's your name? How dare you disrespect us? I'm going to complain to your boss!"

Jane raised an eyebrow with interest. "Jane Watkins. I'm the boss. Who do you plan to complain to?"

Melissa and her assistant were both stunned, looking at Jane in shock.

The assistant asked incredulously, "Are you Jane?"

Melissa, besides being shocked, wasn't scared at all. Instead, she looked Jane up and down with a superior air. "So you're Jane. A woman like you dares to compete with Ms. Johnson for a boyfriend?! Know your place!"

Thanks to Lester's explanation, Jane almost guessed that the "Ms. Johnson" Melissa mentioned was Delilah, and "Ms. Johnson's boyfriend" was Anthony.

Jane turned her head and met Lester's expression, as if to say, "See, I told you so."

"Are we still shooting?" Jane directly ignored Melissa and asked the project leader. "If you pay the penalty fee, I can leave right now."

Anyone could see that Jane and Melissa didn't get along.

"Shoot! Of course, we'll shoot!" The leader immediately reassured Jane.

This was an assignment from Carol, who specifically requested Jane. How could he let Jane leave?

Melissa swallowed the words, "Get me another photographer."

This ad collaboration was hard-won by her agent. Seeing the leader's particularly attentive attitude towards Jane, Melissa worried that asking for a new photographer might offend the client and lose the endorsement.

"Jane, when did you become so patient?" Lester mumbled beside Jane when she was adjusting the camera.

"What do you mean? Was I very impatient before?" she asked without looking up.

Lester honestly replied, "You know the answer to that."

Jane said, "Should I consider making the studio staff respect me as the boss by maintaining team discipline?"

Lester immediately changed his tune, exaggeratedly saying, "Jane, what are you talking about? You're very patient!"

Jane was amused by him.

Jane didn't bother with Melissa. She was always serious about her work and rarely considered personal matters.

However, after half an hour, not a single decent shot was taken.

"Ms. Butler, your pose is a bit awkward. Relax a bit."

"Ms. Butler, your eyes lack expression. Pay attention to your facial expression."

"Ms. Butler, turn your face to the 2 o'clock direction, not 4 o'clock."

Jane's voice kept echoing in the studio.

Other staff members were watching around.

Melissa hadn't been criticized like this for a long time. With so many eyes on her and Jane only highlighting her flaws, Melissa felt her face burning. It seemed as if every pair of eyes was mocking her.

Melissa was furious and suddenly threw the flower prop in her hand to the ground!

The flowers shattered, petals flying everywhere.

Everyone was startled, then heard Melissa shouting at Jane, "Do you even know what you're doing? If not, get me another photographer! All you do is nitpick. I've shot so many ads and endorsements, and every photographer praised my talent and beauty. Only you lack the skills and keep nitpicking!"

Lester saw this and suddenly wasn't angry anymore.

Because when Jane got angry, someone was bound to suffer.

Jane adjusted the camera meaningfully and placed the heavy professional camera on the equipment table.

She was only 5'7", but her figure was excellent, and leaning lazily against the table made it hard to look away.

With bright red lips, Jane spoke calmly, her tone gentle, but every word felt infinitely sarcastic, "Do you have Talent? Or should it be that the photographers you've met before had poor taste?"

"Melissa, it's okay to be ignorant, but don't be ignorant and bark like a mad dog. It makes you look stupid, understand? When I became a rising star in the industry, you were still playing minor roles somewhere. You might not understand the professional standards of the art world, so let me put it in simpler terms: my photo rates might be higher than your endorsement fees," Jane said.

She continued, "Maybe my words today were too friendly, creating a false impression of friendliness. It seems I should be more straightforward. I've heard you've danced for many years, but I've never seen anyone with such stiff poses like a prosthetic, eyes devoid of spirit, facial expressions like a paralyzed face, and a crooked nose that you insist on showing to the camera. Can you find a better plastic surgeon?"

The expression on Jane's entire face seemed to say, "In a nutshell: ugly and troublesome!"

Lester tightly pressed his lips, afraid that laughing in this situation would cause trouble for Jane.

"You, you!" Melissa was red with anger, stomping her feet, "Jane, what are you so arrogant about? You're a woman with no background, trying to compete with Ms. Johnson for a boyfriend and being so arrogant. Just you wait!"

Jane watched Melissa take out her phone, nodding with interest, her face showing a relaxed "Sure, I'll wait" expression.

Melissa called her supporter in front of everyone.

"Mr. White, I'm having trouble with a very rude photographer during today's shoot. Her skills are terrible, and she mocked my acting and said I was ugly!" One moment, she was overbearing. The next she was pitiful, as if she had been bullied.

Jane understood. Melissa wanted her supporters to step in and make her lose this job.

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
