Chapter 517

Pointing towards the office door, Jamie lowered his voice, "The boss stopped working an hour before the charity gala even started, and now, two hours have passed. No clue what he's doing in there."

"If we don't head out now, the event will be over," Charles said, exasperated.

"What? Am I, a mere employee, supposed to rush the boss?" Jamie said with a pained expression, coaxing Charles, "Maybe you should go in and check on him?"

"I just remembered I have some emails to go through. I'll head back to my office." Charles answered.

Just when Jamie was close to losing hope, the door to the executive office finally opened.

"Why are you still here?" Oliver frowned at Jamie.

"I...uh, sir, I’ve assigned someone to film Mrs. Watson's present," Jamie interjected. "Sir, the gala's still going on, perhaps you'd like to... check it out?"

"There's nothing there worth seeing," Oliver said curtly, heading to the elevator to go down.

Driven by a sense of urgency, Jamie quickly followed, "Sir, it's been quite some time since you've attended any events. Maybe you should go... unwind?"

Jamie was uneasy until they were in the car, and only then did Oliver instruct him to head to the gala.

Jamie breathed a sigh of relief and cautiously mentioned, pretending to be indifferent, "Sir, your wife is also there tonight."

Oliver closed his eyes as if to rest, giving no reaction whatsoever. Anyone unaware of the situation might think he was genuinely indifferent.

"Mr. Windsor! What an honor to have you grace our event!" The excitement was palpable on the host's face, who rushed over upon hearing from the greeters that Oliver had arrived.

Oliver was not just any Mr. Windsor now; as the head of RK Group, he was a man whom many sought after, but few could reach.

"Please, Mr. Windsor, right this way!"

"Go ahead, I'll look around on my own." Oliver took a glass of champagne and walked toward the main gathering.

The coordinator had hoped to cozy up to Oliver at the event, but as an exceptional aide, Jamie wasn't about to let anyone get that close so easily. He dismissed the coordinator without a second thought.

Oliver made a low-key entrance, but his striking looks, charisma, and status made it impossible for him to go unnoticed. As soon as he arrived, he became the center of attention, with influential figures from all walks of life eager to exchange pleasantries with him.

Some guests speculated about Oliver's solo appearance so soon after Natalie's swift exit. Wasn't his arrival without a female companion, a silent confirmation of his disdain for Natalie?

"Mr. Windsor, this is my daughter, fresh from abroad. You haven't met her, have you?" a CEO from a tech company suggested, introducing his daughter to Oliver. He chuckled while teasingly nudging his daughter forward. "Fiona, here's Mr. Windsor, the man you've always talked about with your dad. Finally, you get to meet him, huh?"

Fiona appeared to be in her twenties. Her elaborate styling accentuated her youthful beauty. Smiling shyly in front of Oliver, it was clear to everyone what her intentions were.

"Hello, Mr. Windsor!" Fiona said vivaciously, reaching out for a handshake, her eyes filled with admiration for Oliver.

"Mr. Michael, if you'll excuse me, I need to step out," Oliver said, glancing over but not taking Fiona's hand, and then promptly left without a pause.

Fiona awkwardly retracted her hand.
