Chapter 1066 Bargaining

Anthony had anticipated early on that Jane would be dissatisfied with the appearance of the furniture, and once her dissatisfaction reached a certain level, she would replace them. In doing so, Jane indirectly purchased items for the future baby.

Anthony was so cunning!

Clint continued, "Additionally, Ms. Watkins bought some maternity items, a total of thirteen pieces."

Only then did Anthony look up with a satisfied expression on his face.

Anthony asked Clint, "The bill is under my name, right?"

"Yes."

Clint thought Anthony was hopeless; at this moment, he was only concerned about whether the bill was under his name, afraid that Jane would spend her own money.

The items from that mother-and-baby brand were exorbitantly priced for ordinary people, let alone buying thirteen products in one go.

"Mr. Clark, don't you think Ms. Watkins' shopping spree is a bit scary?" Clint asked cautiously.

Anthony sneered, "That's because you haven't seen Jane's shopping style before."

Except for a few items, she would have everything else wrapped up. Jane had done such things before.

Anthony didn't think Jane spent money too frequently; on the contrary, he liked that the woman he loved could spend his money. He found it enjoyable.

Anthony didn't know that Jane had already found out about the strange planning group he had organized.

When Anthony returned to Emerald Gardens, Jane was sitting on the sofa. From a distance, she saw Anthony carrying an exquisite cake box with a distinctive logo from a high-end private dessert shop she knew.

Anthony was on the phone, speaking in another language. Jane understood it but had no interest in his business matters.

As soon as he entered, he noticed Jane's gaze on him and was momentarily stunned. He then gestured with the cake box and handed it to the maid to give to Jane.

Jane opened the cake box to find a red velvet yogurt mousse cake, the shop's signature item, limited to thirty pieces per day.

"Do you like it?" Anthony walked over after hanging up the phone. He seemed indifferent to whether Jane liked it or not, as if giving the gift was enough. But Jane saw the concern in his eyes.

It was like a six or seven-year-old boy pretending to be mature and indifferent to praise from elders but still craving recognition deep down.

Jane was surprised by her own thought, never expecting Anthony to have such an awkward side.

Jane glanced at the cake, then looked at Anthony with a sly smile and asked, "Anthony, is this the idea your planning group came up with?"

Anthony was stunned for a second, his expression darkening.

How did Jane find out about this?

"Don't deny it; I know everything," Jane said, as if she had discovered something amusing.

Anthony straightforwardly admitted. "Yes."

Jane was exasperated. "What were you thinking? Why would you come up with such a planning group? Wait, do you pay them?"

"Yes." And he paid much higher than the standard salary for other planning groups.

To Anthony, making Jane happy was more important than making money.

Often, making Jane happy was harder than creating a business plan.

"How much?" she asked.

Anthony gave a number.

A number twice the average salary in the industry.

"Pay me that amount, and I'll tell you how to make me happy," Jane said seriously, starting to calculate in her mind.

'A simple project team consists of at least five people, each with a monthly salary of over $10,000. That's $50,000 a month, not including performance bonuses.

'If Anthony has extra money, he should just pay me directly!' Jane thought.

"Jane, if others heard this, they'd think I, Anthony, am stingy with women," Anthony said, finding it amusing as he had never seen this money-minded side of Jane in all the years he had known her.

Jane smiled without saying a word.

Anthony was only willing to spend money on his woman. Not to mention, Jane and Anthony were not even in a relationship. Even if they were, she only liked spending her own money.

"Have a taste." Anthony gestured with his chin towards the small cake.

Jane wasn't particularly interested in red velvet cake, even though it was the shop's signature product.

Jane took a small bite and mumbled, "Next time, get me their ice cream cake, either chocolate or rum raisin. Both are delicious."

Anthony was amused by her words.

It was already good enough that Anthony bought Jane these unhealthy sweets, and she was still picky.

She chose ice cream? Can you believe it?

Jane took another bite and sincerely said, "I think your planning group isn't good enough. If they knew me better, they wouldn't suggest red velvet cake but rather Black Forest ice cream cake."

After Jane finished speaking, she didn't hear a response from Anthony for a while. She looked up to see Anthony staring at her with a expression suggesting that she was dreaming.

Alright, Jane's ice cream cake was out of the question.

In fact, the planning group's initial suggestion was ice cream cake. Jane's love for ice cream wasn't a secret when she was the top socialite in Paykston.

Not giving Jane ice cream was Anthony's request.

Jane selected some recent photos and used the new printer Anthony bought to print them out, instructing the maid to send them to Natalie at the Rosewood Estate.

Jane couldn't return to Paykston for now, but sending some photos to Natalie and Flora would ease their worries.

"Don't you really want to go back and see them?" Anthony saw Jane carefully wrapping the photos, and he knew that she was clearly missing her friends.

Natalie and Flora were the closest people to Jane besides Jovan. But since Jane came to the Clark family, she hadn't returned for over half a year and hadn't even seen Natalie's newborn son.

Jane's hands paused for a moment, a struggle flashing in her eyes before quickly disappearing.

"No." Going back would bring more problems.

If Natalie and Flora found out Jane was inexplicably pregnant with Anthony's child, they might want to kill Anthony.

Natalie and Flora would be more furious and heartbroken for her.

Jane didn't want her friends to be heartbroken.

Anthony looked at Jane with deep, dark eyes, as if a storm was brewing inside, or he was trying to suppress something.

"What's wrong?" Jane asked.

"So you want to keep your pregnancy a secret from Natalie and the others,"  Anthony stated.

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
