Chapter 1057 Jane, Why Are You Being So Stubborn?

"When Mr. Clark's subordinates came to find me, I was astonished, wondering which socialite or actress could catch Mr. Clark's eye. Now I know she's Jane Watkins!"

"Who else but Jane could catch Mr. Clark's eye?"

"That's right. Having been with someone like Jane, other women just pale in comparison. To them, Mr. Clark's novelty would even wear off in less than three minutes."

"Has she reconciled with Mr. Clark?"

"These rich people, who knows? But I heard from a friend in the photography circle that a socialite offended her not long ago, and her whole family was ruined."

"To be fair, even without the Watkins family, she is still the same as before. Her taste in clothes is impeccable, amazing!"

"Of course, otherwise, how could she have become a fashion icon in the socialite circle back then?"

Several wealthy ladies walking nearby exchanged glances.

"Is that house occupied?" One of them nodded towards the villa where Jane lived.

"It seems so. I saw people coming and going a few days ago, like they were preparing for the move."

"That house, in terms of both location and direction, is the best. We wanted it back then, but Mr. Williams from the real estate company smiled and refused, saying he was saving it for his son to get married in. His son is still in middle school, and the house is already occupied by someone else!"

"Mrs. Miller, don't be upset. I saw Mr. Clark's assistant bringing servants over the other day." the lady speaking smiled meaningfully. "Guess who could have the clout to make Mr. Williams give up the house?"

"Anthony Clark?" Ava Miller was shocked. "You must be mistaken. Didn't Mr. Clark just break up with the woman from the Dewar family? Who could be living in that house? Could it be that Anthony Clark is keeping a woman on the side?"

"Have you ever heard of someone keeping a mistress in Emerald Gardens? The women who live here are not much different from us in terms of status and position."

Not much different? Definitely not.

Emerald Gardens was the best high-end villa area in the south of the city, and only the top tier could get in.

You'd have to be crazy to keep a mistress here.

"Could it be Jane Watkins?"

The thought made everyone gasp. 'Jane? Now that would be interesting!'

Jane had no idea that her move into Emerald Gardens was guessed by others the very next day.

In the following days, Jane's routine was almost the same: sleep in, have lunch, shop, wait for Anthony to come back for dinner, watch TV, and sleep.

Then sleep in again, have lunch, shop, and repeat.

Even the studio's affairs were going smoothly, with nothing important requiring Jane's decision, which could be handled by the professional manager she hired.

Jane was getting a bit lazy, and even Anthony noticed.

Jane still didn't want to talk to Anthony. Unless necessary, she wouldn't initiate a conversation with him.

During this time, Anthony only brought up Jovan once, saying that Jovan was still missing but likely not in any life-threatening danger. Jane then thanked Anthony.

Anthony was cautious. He hadn't found Jovan yet but was sure Jovan was safe and secretly targeting Ainslee's opponents.

However, Anthony wouldn't tell Jane this information.

Anthony just needed to ensure that Jovan's situation wouldn't seriously affect Jane.

In fact, Jane also felt that Jovan was safe and was just waiting for a definite answer from Anthony.

Jane had planned to use the contact information Jovan left to inquire about him, but the Richardson family was in chaos and full of dangers. Jane worried that sending a message might be discovered by their enemies, putting Jovan in danger.

One evening, when Anthony came back, a bodyguard brought in a large box.

Jane glanced at it, uninterested in Anthony's affairs.

"Jane, come here." Anthony had the bodyguard place the box in the middle of the living room and called Jane over.

Jane ignored Anthony.

This time, Anthony didn't come over but opened the box and said to Jane, "A camera, not interested?"

As a professional photographer, Jane's eyes lit up at the word "camera." Despite her disdain for Anthony, her body honestly turned towards the box, which was about knee-high.

"Come and take a look." Anthony's eyes held a smile, like a boy who had picked out the perfect gift for his girlfriend, happy but holding back.

Jane hesitated for a second but walked over.

Inside the box was a top-tier professional camera, with one body and three different lenses, one of the sets Jane had her eye on last year but didn't buy for various reasons.

"Like it?" Anthony carefully observed Jane's expression and saw the joy in her eyes.

She looked up at Anthony and, instead of saying she liked it, coldly asked, "If I say I don't like it, will you not give it to me or get me another set?" Her tone sounded sarcastic.

Anthony, being tall, easily ruffled Jane's hair. "Jane, if you like it, just admit it. Why be stubborn?"

Jane stared at Anthony for three full seconds, not reacting.

She wondered how she had been so naive to be charmed by Anthony's looks back then. How could she have fallen for him? A handsome guy with such a poor way of speaking!

"Go on. Have some fun with it." Anthony ruffled Jane's hair again and went upstairs to change into casual clothes.

Jane rolled her eyes, torn between stubbornly refusing Anthony's gift and happily accepting it, she chose the latter.

A top-tier camera wass something no photography enthusiast could refuse!

Especially since Jane didn't have a professional camera on hand; she had sent all her cameras back to Paykston in advance. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so bored these past few days.

When Anthony came back downstairs in his casual clothes, Jane had already assembled the camera and lens and was in the small garden outside, experimenting and taking pictures.

Anthony walked to the garden door, and saw that Jane had already set the data and was saying to Billy, "Billy, stand by that ginkgo tree. I'll take your picture! I take great photos!"

Billy happily stood there, looking around, not knowing what pose to strike, and ended up making a peace sign.

Jane burst out laughing.

Anthony was momentarily dazed by that bright smile, feeling like a rose was blooming in his heart.

It had been a long time since Anthony had seen Jane smile so brightly.

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
