Chapter 455

"Mr. Windsor, do you know what you're doing?" Rosy crossed her arms and looked at him.

Oliver had already picked up a ball of cotton with the forceps, dipped it in alcohol, and softly placed it behind Natalie's ear, where the heat was concentrated.

"Hey, you do know!" Rosy was surprised. "Back then, Arthur said he went into medicine just to save you, his clueless older brother. I thought you had no idea how to care for anyone."

Oliver truly had no clue about taking care of people.

After his car accident, he once ran a persistently high fever due to an infection. Susan… No, he couldn't be sure that the girl who took care of him was Susan. In any case, it was that little girl who had done this for him.

Oliver dabbed alcohol-soaked cotton across the neck and palms.

Just as Oliver was about to lift Natalie's blanket, he suddenly stopped and said to Rosy, "Leave the room."

Rosy was shocked. "I am a woman, and I am a doctor! What haven't I seen before?"

Oliver tilted his chin toward the door, signaling Rosy to leave.

Rosy was fuming with indignation, but she dared not confront Oliver directly while Natalie was unconscious.

Once Rosy left and closed the door behind her, Oliver proceeded to unbutton Natalie's clothes and wipe her underarms and limbs with alcohol. After several rounds of sponge bathing, Natalie's fever finally subsided.

Oliver breathed a sigh of relief.

His gaze fell on her abdomen. There was a large, blue bruise - it wasn't severe, but to Oliver, given Natalie's delicate constitution, it was deeply concerning for him. He bent down and gently kissed the injured area, his lips tinged with deep affection and concern.

After being sent out, Rosy did not go straight back to her office but chose to bring her paperwork to the bench outside the hospital room instead.

An hour later, when Oliver called her back in, Rosy conducted a basic assessment on Natalie and nodded, "The fever has subsided. That's good."

"How could she suddenly get a fever with no signs of catching a cold?" Oliver asked worriedly, fearing that the three scoundrels had done something undetectable to Natalie.

"Mr. Windsor, you ought to ask yourself," Rosy replied tersely, casting a deliberate glance at the clear kiss mark on Natalie's neck. "Stress can also cause sickness, Mr. Windsor. Emotions can affect the immune system to a certain degree."

Rosy continued, "Considering Natalie's physical condition, she probably wouldn't want to engage in certain activities with you."

What she left unsaid was clear, ‘It was all your fault for forcing her into this state.’

Oliver stood frozen, looking helplessly at the unconscious Natalie.

"Mr. Windsor, if you cherish her so much, why do you hurt her?" Rosy's tone carried an obvious tinge of reproach.

‘Why? Because of unease and the fear of losing her,’ he answered silently.

When Natalie awoke, she was met with nothing but whiteness and the pervasive scent of disinfectant. She immediately realized that she was back in the hospital.

"Thirsty? Here have some water." Oliver propped Natalie up gently and brought the warm water to her lips.

Natalie turned to look at him for a couple of seconds, her throat aching with dryness, "Why am I in the hospital again?"

"Fever," Oliver stated.

Natalie let out a self-mocking laugh, not knowing when she had become so delicate.

"Since we're at the hospital, let's get the following check-ups done before going home." Oliver had already arranged for the checkups.

Natalie had no objections. After all, he was merely informing her, not consulting her.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
