Chapter 1093 Jane, Don't Provoke Me

Jane was taken aback.

Anthony had been leaving early and returning late these days. Was it related to Delilah?

If it were another woman, Jane probably wouldn't believe Anthony would be interested. In fact, he wouldn't even give it a thought.

Jane had confidence in herself. She was excellent enough. She had known Anthony for many years and could feel his indulgence towards her during this period.

However, a man's heart wasn't limited to just one woman.

Jane considered herself excellent and charming enough, but she also admitted that Delilah could rival her.

"What? Ms. Watkins doesn't know?" Aurora was very satisfied with Jane's reaction. "Mrs. Clark is quite fond of Delilah. Speaking of which, Delilah had a reputation not much worse than yours back in the day. Now, she and Mr. Clark are quite a match."

Quite a match, implying that Jane and Anthony were not a match at all, and she should stop dreaming!

Aurora took a few steps forward but was stopped again by Jane's accompanying servant before she could get close. Anthony had said that anyone who seemed to have ulterior motives should not casually approach Jane.

Aurora was blocked and snorted coldly but wasn't too annoyed. After all, she had almost achieved her goal for today.

"Ms. Watkins, why do you look a bit pale?" Aurora pretended to suddenly realize, letting out a couple of fake laughs. "Oh, I'm really sorry. You're pregnant, and I shouldn't have said that. But Jane, when I was pregnant, didn't you openly move into the Clark family and seduce my fiancé right in front of me? Delilah is much better than you!"

Aurora's words were filled with undisguised hatred, and even her face became distorted.

The wealthy lady who invited Aurora into Emerald Gardens was very surprised. She thought Aurora simply wanted to make friends with her or even flatter her. She didn't expect Aurora to come in and argue with Jane!

Who in Emerald Gardens didn't know that Jane was someone you absolutely couldn't offend! No matter what was said about Jane behind her back, you absolutely couldn't offend her openly! Ava was a prime example!

"I'm sorry, Ms. Watkins. I'll take her out right away. I'm sorry!" The wealthy lady apologized to Jane in a panic and forcibly dragged Aurora away. "Aurora, if you want to go crazy, don't drag me into it!"

Aurora wanted to say something more, but the wealthy lady directly called security and had her thrown out.

"Ms. Watkins, don't listen to Ms. Dewar's nonsense. She said it on purpose to upset you." The accompanying maid cautiously observed Jane's reaction but found that Jane didn't lose her composure as expected.

Jane was only a bit surprised when she first learned about Anthony and Delilah, but she quickly regained her composure.

"Which part was nonsense?" Jane asked the maid. "Anthony and Delilah?"

The maid lowered her head. "I'm sorry, Ms. Watkins. I'm not too clear about Mr. Clark's private matters. I only know that Mr. Clark loves you very much. If you're upset, you can ask Mr. Clark yourself to find out what's going on. Don't listen to those with ill intentions."

Everyone serving Jane in this villa knew Anthony's attitude towards her. He was very careful and cherished her. No one believed that any woman could surpass Jane's status now.

Anthony would come back late every night, inquire about Jane's condition during the day, and then stay by her side, leaving only at dawn.

It was clear that Anthony was very busy, yet he insisted on coming back.

"I'm neither Anthony's wife nor his girlfriend. Why should I be angry?" Jane said calmly. "Let's go back."

The maid followed with her head down, not daring to say another word.

It was a quiet night with no moonlight. The moon was completely covered by clouds.

Anthony's car stopped outside the villa in Emerald Gardens. The bodyguards and servants were already used to it.

"Mr. Clark." The night-shift servant greeted him and very considerately reported, "Ms. Watkins went to her room at nine tonight."

Anthony nodded and walked upstairs.

The servant followed Anthony quietly and then said, "This afternoon, Ms. Watkins ran into Ms. Dewar while she was out for a walk."

Anthony stopped in his tracks, frowning as he looked at the servant.

The servant immediately felt a wave of pressure but had to muster the courage to continue. "Ms. Dewar told Ms. Watkins that you've been with Ms. Johnson these days and said some things to provoke Ms. Watkins."

"What kind of provoking things?" Anthony knew it wouldn't be anything good.

The servant lowered her head and honestly repeated Aurora's words verbatim.

Anthony's face turned dark, and a cold aura emanated from him, as if he might explode at any moment.

"What was Jane's reaction?" In the end, Anthony only asked this one question.

"Ms. Watkins looked a bit upset at first, but she seemed quite calm afterward." the servant sighed inwardly, thinking today was too difficult. "Mr. Clark, Ms. Watkins probably isn't angry with you. She likely believes in you."

Anthony let out a cold laugh.

She might indeed not be angry with him, but it certainly wasn't because she believed in him.

Anthony would rather Jane be angry, as it would at least show she cared about him.

Only indifference would result in no reaction.

As for her initial upset, it was probably because he had kept this from her.

Near Jane's room, Anthony gestured for the servant to leave.

He quietly opened the door and slipped inside.

The next second, a sound filled the air, and bright lights illuminated the dim bedroom. Jane sat on the bed, looking at Anthony at the door with a calm expression. "Mr. Clark, your midnight intrusions are getting more and more skillful."

Anthony was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered without any embarrassment from being caught. He realized that she had probably known about his late-night visits to her room for some time.

"Why aren't you asleep?" Anthony walked to Jane's bedside and sat down, affectionately touching her hair. "Can't sleep?"

As he spoke, Anthony remembered that Jane was already four months pregnant and asked, "Is the baby keeping you up?"

Anthony often unintentionally forgot about Jane's pregnancy. In his heart, she was always a little girl, a princess. His care and favoritism were solely because she was Jane, not because of the baby she was carrying.

Jane didn't answer his question, her big eyes staring straight at Anthony.

"Anthony, you haven't been taking care of your mother lately. You've been with Delilah, haven't you?"

Jane initially thought Anthony's early departures and late returns were because Ann was sick and needed care, or that Ann was using her illness as an excuse to keep Anthony away from her. She never expected it to be because of Delilah!

"If so, what do you want to do?" Anthony didn't directly answer Jane. Even if he could guess her attitude, he was still unwilling to accept it.

He wanted to know if he held any place in Jane's heart.
Jane moved aside a bit, avoiding Anthony's touch. Her gaze was particularly cold and stubborn. "If so, then until the baby is born, you don't need to come here anymore."
Anthony's pupils contracted sharply.
"Anthony, I already suffered because of Aurora. Now, I've been labeled as someone who destroys families and gets pregnant out of wedlock, with people speculating that I want to marry you because of the baby. I don't want to offend another woman for you. I don't want to parade in front of your future girlfriend or fiancée while pregnant. It makes me feel disgusted," Jane said word by word. "It makes me feel very disgusted..."
"Jane, there's nothing between Delilah and me!" Anthony interrupted Jane.
He pulled her into his arms, carefully avoiding her pregnant belly. "Jane, there's nothing between us. She has nothing to do with my girlfriend or fiancée. Don't use such words to provoke me."
Anthony felt immense pain whenever he heard her use any derogatory terms about herself.
Jane tilted her head in confusion. How was she provoking him? She was clearly talking about herself.
"Then what's going on with you and Delilah?" Jane didn't believe Aurora would come to her and make things up out of thin air.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
