Chapter 1083 Not Bothering Each Other? Impossible

People around started to notice the commotion between Jane and Aurora, and gradually, more and more guests gathered nearby.

Jane suddenly felt that arguing with Aurora here was pointless and warned her, "Aurora, I really dislike you right now, but I have no intention of becoming enemies with you. I'm a woman too, and I don't want to make things tough for you. I came here today to settle things with you. From now on, let's not bother each other. What do you think?"

"Not bother each other?" Aurora clearly didn't agree with this proposal, but because more people were gathering around, she didn't say more.

Instead, she put on a welcoming face and insincerely said, "Ms. Watkins, enjoy yourself."

Jane frowned in displeasure, feeling that today's trip was in vain.

"Mr. Clark." Jane suddenly heard someone in the crowd greeting Anthony.

Anthony was tall and had an excellent demeanor, making him easily noticeable wherever he stood.

Jane noticed that Aurora seemed visibly distracted when she saw Anthony, her eyes filled with a mix of infatuation and resentment.

However, Anthony didn't even glance at Aurora and walked straight to Jane's side.

"What happened?" His tone was worried, as if afraid Jane had been bullied.

He scanned the surroundings, as if ready to confront anyone who had troubled Jane.

The onlookers averted their eyes, adopting a 'not my problem' stance.

Anthony's recent actions to stand up for Jane had caused quite a stir, and everyone in their circle knew about it.

No one wanted to risk their own interests just for some excitement.

"Nothing much." Jane replied, lacking enthusiasm.

Aurora stood nearby, waiting and waiting, but never received a glance from Anthony.

"Didn't you see me standing right here?" Aurora took the initiative to speak to Anthony.

"What do I have to say to you?" Anthony clearly didn't like Aurora. Even though she was the bride today, he wasn't planning on sparing Aurora any embarrassment..

"Right, ever since you schemed against me, we have nothing to say to each other!" Aurora laughed self-deprecatingly, lifted her dress, and left. Her high heels clacked on the cobblestones, echoing Aurora's resentment.

This scene was naturally noticed by the guests. They had already speculated that Aurora still had feelings for Anthony, while it was clear that Anthony only had eyes for Jane, with no room for anyone else.

From the moment Anthony arrived, his gaze never left Jane.

Someone saw an opportunity and approached Anthony to make small talk.

They talked about business matters, which didn't interest Jane.

Anthony suddenly felt a gentle tug on his coat. Looking down, he saw Jane's slender, fair fingers.

"Anthony, I want to go back." Jane's voice was soft, only audible to Anthony and the business partner he was talking to.

Since communicating with Aurora was futile, there was no reason for her to stay. She had attended Aurora's engagement party and now her wedding banquet; it was giving Aurora too much face.

"Feeling bored?" Since Jane was sitting, Anthony bent down to ask her.

"Yeah." Jane nodded. It had been boring from the start.

"Alright." Anthony straightened up and said to his business partner, "Sorry, I have to leave now. How about we discuss our cooperation at the office this week?"

As the subordinate party, the business partner naturally agreed. Anthony's willingness to discuss was great news for him!

"Of course, Mr. Clark! You take care!" He then looked at Jane, "Goodbye, Ms. Watkins!"

Jane nodded politely.

Since Jane wanted to leave, Anthony took her away without thinking she was being unreasonable.

"Anthony, what's this about?" Hubert's father, Enrique Clark, and mother, Kimberly, happened to see Anthony leading Jane out.

"Uncle Enrique, Aunt Kimberly, we're leaving now." Anthony nodded to Enrique and Kimberly.

"Leaving?" Kimberly was surprised and questioned, "The wedding banquet hasn't officially started yet, and you're leaving? You're Hubert's cousin; how can you not be here?"

"Yes, Anthony, this is very improper!" Enrique added.

If Anthony hadn't come, it would have been fine. But leaving early after arriving was a clear sign of disrespect to Hubert and their family!

"You're holding Hubert's wedding at the Clark Manor, which is improper, and I allowed it. Now you want to talk to me about propriety?"

Anthony's face showed no anger, but his words made Enrique and Kimberly tremble with fear.

Anthony had allowed them to hold the wedding at the Clark Manor mainly to get Aurora married into the family quickly, so Ann wouldn't target Aurora.

But if Enrique and Kimberly thought they could use their seniority or etiquette to pressure Anthony, that was impossible!

"Watch your step." As they descended the steps, Anthony gently held Jane's waist and reminded her softly.

His attitude was completely different from when he faced Enrique and Kimberly.

After Anthony and Jane had walked away, Kimberly sarcastically said, "Jane really is an ill-mannered person!"

Soon, news of Anthony leaving with Jane spread throughout the banquet.

Ann was so furious that she shattered a glass and almost couldn't catch her breath.

"Ann, don't be angry. It's not worth harming your health." Aurora, who had appeared at some point, handed Ann a glass of water.

Seeing Aurora's thoughtful and tender ways, Ann let out a sigh.

What a wonderful daughter-in-law she could have had—fate had a strange sense of humor!

"Ann, you saw Mr. Clark's attitude today. He's determined to be with Jane. If you keep opposing him, it might harm your relationship with him. Mr. Clark is someone who responds better to kindness than force," Aurora advised earnestly.

"I understand, but I just can't accept Jane! Any other woman would be fine, just not someone from the Watkins family!"

"I think you should introduce another suitable woman to Mr. Clark to distract him." Aurora suggested. "Mr. Clark didn't like me because I wasn't good enough, but surely there are better socialites out there?"

There was indeed a socialite better than Jane present. Ann's gaze subtly shifted to Delilah, who was chatting and laughing with other guests.

However, Anthony had clearly stated he wasn't interested in Delilah. So what now?

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
