Chapter 1088 You Are Generous
Anthony's sudden directness left Jane a bit overwhelmed.
She eventually accepted the necklace and carefully placed it in her walk-in closet.
Despite accepting it, she decided she wouldn't take it with her in the future.
In the following days, she submitted another entry for the photography exhibition and got immersed in post-editing the photos.
This time, the shoot was a themed photography series. The on-site shooting was done by the photographer's staff, while Jane was mainly responsible for selecting photos and post-editing. The final submission would be in the name of all participants.
Jane had never been one to exploit or plagiarize others' work, which was why the talented photographers in the studio were so loyal to her.
"Jane, is something wrong? You haven't been to the studio for half a year. A while ago, Ms. Watson and Ms. Lee came by asking about you. We didn't dare tell them that we haven't seen you for half a year either," someone in the studio asked boldly.
It was no wonder the studio staff were puzzled. Jane used to lead the team on photo shoots personally, and this was the first time she had "skipped work" for such a long period.
"Nothing's wrong," Jane said. "I've had some personal matters to attend to recently, that's all. I'll be back in about six months."
In six months, the baby would be born safely.
"Jane, are you addicted to the internet?" Anthony came out of the study on the second floor and saw Jane with her laptop from a distance.
The studio staff on the other end of the video call were all stunned.
"Jane, do you have a boyfriend now?"
The news about Jane and Anthony had only spread in a small circle in the South City, so naturally, people in Paykston didn't know about it.
The staff could only see a pair of long legs stepping into the frame, wearing a pair of cotton slippers. Anthony's hand hung by his side, and they could vaguely see an expensive watch on his left wrist.
The staff were too shocked to react.
"Shut up!" Jane quickly covered the camera with one hand and Anthony's mouth with the other, whispering, "I'm on a video call!"
Anthony glanced at the laptop screen, seeing mostly young faces in their twenties, all looking dumbfounded.
Anthony wanted to speak, but Jane covered his mouth.
A mischievous thought crossed his mind.
"Ah!" Jane suddenly exclaimed.
"Jane, are you okay?" an employee in the video asked.
Jane had covered the camera with her palm, so the employees could only hear her voice and not see the screen, thinking something had happened to her.
"I'm fine," Jane quickly said.
She had just felt a wet, ticklish sensation in her palm.
It was Anthony's tongue licking her.
She glared at Anthony, who was giving her a mischievous smile, as if to say, "I did it on purpose, so what?"
Jane was stunned for a few seconds, still finding it unbelievable.
Anthony would actually do something so flirtatious!
"I'm warning you not to speak out of turn!" Jane lowered her hand and whispered to Anthony.
"Which part of what I said was out of turn? Or are you saying, Ms. Watkins, that I'm not presentable?"
Anthony didn't care, his voice not too loud but just loud enough for the people on the other end of the video call to hear.
Most of the studio staff were around the same age, and Jane, as their boss, was very approachable. So the employees on the other end couldn't help but whisper, discussing the half-visible figure of Anthony they had just seen.
"Could Jane be on vacation with her boyfriend?"
"Even though we didn't see his face, you can tell just from his aura that he's definitely a super handsome guy!"
"Only a man who wears a watch worth millions could be a match for our Jane!"
"They're so sweet!"
"Jane, even though you're our boss, isn't it a bit inappropriate to be lovey-dovey in front of us?"
"Jane, move your hand! We won't steal your man, and we couldn't even if we tried. Let us see the handsome guy!"
"Yeah, yeah!"
The whispers gradually turned into teasing.
"Stop joking around!" Jane, rarely blushing, deeply regretted not wearing headphones, otherwise, Anthony wouldn't have heard these comments.
"She's being stingy by not showing you." Anthony, rarely interested in talking to strangers, surprisingly joined in the teasing.
"His voice is so nice!"
Another round of exclamations.
"Everyone, act normal! Anyone who embarrasses me won't get a year-end bonus!" Jane felt utterly humiliated this time.
Anthony, not wanting to let it go, said to the studio staff, "Anyone who gets their pay docked, I'll make up for it. I'm richer than your boss."
"Ahhh!"
"You are awesome!"
"You are generous!"
"Jane's threats don't work!"
"Everyone, shut up!" Jane felt overwhelmed. Having a great team atmosphere had its downsides, like being too chatty during non-work times. "He doesn't have your bank account numbers."
The employees thought the threat had worked.
