Chapter 1124 What Were You Hiding From Just Now

"Mr. Clark, aren't you going?" Clint asked, puzzled to see Anthony unmoved.

"No." Anthony glanced in the direction of the backyard.

'It's over. It really seems like they've broken up this time.' Clint thought.

After a while, Jovan returned to the banquet hall, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that his coat was gone.

Anthony and Jovan exchanged a glance across half the banquet hall. In that instant, an eerie silence seemed to envelop them, with countless eyes darting back and forth between the two.

Two seconds later, they both looked away, as if they hadn't seen each other, and continued their conversations.

Guests whispered, "Do you think those two will fight?"

"Why do you say that?"

"You don't know? Anthony brought down the Watkins family, and Jovan almost got killed by him. Can these two coexist peacefully?"

"But Jane was getting along well with Anthony before!"

"Who knows if it was real or fake? And now they're separated, aren't they?"

"Oh dear, I hope Mr. Green's wedding doesn't turn into a battlefield today."

Guests kept a close eye on Anthony and the Watkins family's Jane and Jovan. Not seeing Jane, they focused their attention on Jovan. As a result, many people didn't even get a clear look at the bride.

To their disappointment, Anthony and Jovan acted as if the other didn't exist. Not only did they not fight, but they didn't even exchange a single word!

Even between Jane and Anthony, there was nothing noteworthy!

'Shouldn't Jovan be seeking revenge on Anthony?'

'Is the seven-year entanglement between Anthony and Jane really over just like that?' The crowd was greatly disappointed.

The bride pursued a neo-romantic style, so today's wedding ceremony was very simple.

Jane stood on the outskirts of the crowd, watched the ceremony, sent a text to Jovan, and then left.

The car was parked in the outdoor parking lot. As Jane approached the extended Bentley, a bodyguard emerged from the shadows to open the door for her.

When the car door opened, a rich aroma of roast beef and sauce wafted out.

Ainslee was sitting in the spacious car, eating roast beef with such elegance that it felt like he was dining in a seven-star Michelin restaurant.

Jane thought, 'Look at that; which head of a family will avoid socializing and hide in a car eating roast duck like him?'

Jane even suspected that Jovan working for Ainslee was part of a premeditated scheme by Ainslee to make money without doing any work.

Ainslee chewed the roast beef in his mouth a couple of times, swallowed, and looked behind Jane. "Where's Jovan?"

"Jovan is still in the banquet hall," Jane replied, exasperated.

"Then why are you wearing his jacket?" Ainslee asked, feigning seriousness.

"Jovan was happy to let me wear it..." Before Jane could finish her sentence, Ainslee, who had just wiped his hands, suddenly stood up, pulled off Jovan's jacket from Jane, and draped another one over her.

"Wear mine," Ainslee said, placing Jovan's jacket on the empty seat beside him.

Jane couldn't hold back, "Ainslee, do you, maybe, possibly have some kind of problem?"

"What do you mean?" Ainslee tilted his head in confusion.

"Nothing," Jane said. Talking to someone who wasn't fluent in her language was exhausting, even when arguing.

Anthony stood on the second floor of the venue building, across half a road, and saw Jane outside the Bentley.

Ainslee reached out to remove the jacket from Jane and then draped another one over her. They seemed to be talking about something, and Jane's animated expression made Anthony feel a bit dazed.

Although reason told Anthony that nothing could be going on between Jane and Ainslee, seeing this scene still felt like a thorn in his side. He wanted to rip off the jacket on Jane's shoulders and replace it with his own.

"Mr. Clark, what are you doing here?" Someone passing by recognized Anthony and struck up a conversation.

Meeting Anthony's dark and brooding gaze, the person was filled with dread.

Had he offended Anthony? No, right? But why did Anthony look like he was about to lash out?

Jovan had other matters to attend to, so Ainslee and Jane left first.

Jane had been recovering from an illness recently and had developed the habit of going to bed early. Tonight, she fell asleep early again but suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep.

Jane walked to the window and vaguely saw two cars parked on the asphalt road outside the villa.

Two tall figures stood outside the cars.

One leaned lazily against the car's hood, while the other held a cigarette between his fingers. The atmosphere between them was somewhat eerie, seemingly calm yet tense, as if they were discussing something.

Jane recognized the smoker as Anthony and the other as Jovan.

What could they possibly have to talk about?

Before Jane could take out her phone to call Jovan, she suddenly saw Jovan throw a punch at Anthony.

Anthony didn't dodge; his head turned from the blow, and the unfinished cigarette fell to the ground, its red ember extinguished.

Jane was so shocked that she gasped and quickly covered her mouth.

In an instant, the two were grappling with each other, punch after punch.

Both were skilled fighters, but Jane could tell that Anthony was only using a third of his strength, seemingly inviting a beating.

The night in the villa area was so quiet that Jane could vaguely hear the sounds of their fight.

Suddenly, the two men froze, and before their gazes could turn towards her, Jane crouched down, hiding behind the balcony railing.

Half an hour later, Jovan returned and knocked on Jane's door.

"Jane, are you asleep?" Jovan asked.

Jane initially wanted to pretend to be asleep. As long as she didn't make a sound, it would mean she was asleep.

After hesitating for two seconds, she finally gave in. "No, Jovan."

Jovan pushed the door open, leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed, and looked at Jane with a mischievous expression, "I thought you would pretend to be asleep."

Jane looked at Jovan, displeased, "Jovan!"

Was there no respect for her dignity?

Jovan chuckled lightly and asked, "Why aren't you sleeping? What were you hiding from earlier?"

So he did notice her.

Anthony and Jovan had keen senses; she shouldn't have stood there so blatantly watching.

Jane didn't answer Jovan's question and awkwardly asked, "Did Anthony see me too?"

"What do you think?" Jovan retorted.

Alright, he saw her.

Jane sighed. "What were you two talking about? What could you possibly have to discuss?"

Jovan clicked his tongue and shook his head, looking at her like she was an ungrateful fool. "I thought you'd be concerned about whether I got hurt."

"I saw you beating up Anthony," Jane said confidently, trusting her eyesight.

"So, does your heart ache?" Jovan asked.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
