Chapter 235 Natalie Bullies Me!
Oliver directed his gaze downward, a subtle smile lingering at the corners of his mouth.
Natalie didn't explicitly mention sending Lilian back to her country, she did remind Liam to take Lilian back to her place.
Lilian glanced at Natalie a few times, felt uneasy about yielding to Natalie earlier. Deciding to leave, asked Uncle Liam to send her back.
Given Oliver's affection for Lilian since childhood, Liam arranged for Jamie to accompany her.. Anticipating this, Natalie found Jamie in advance and gave him a few instructions. Lilian could see from a distance that Jamie was nodding repeatedly in agreement with Natalie's words.
"What did she say just now? Was she badmouthing me?" Lilian couldn't wait and asked Jamie as soon as they got in the car.
Jamie told the truth, "Lady asked me to find you another, safer place to live. Although the apartment you're currently staying in has a good environment, the security measures are not very secure. And Lady wants to provide you with a car."
Lilian had come to Paykston from France alone. She was unable to use credit cards and had limited money. After Oliver found her, she dared to use the family's credit card, but her father unexpectedly canceled it, hoping to force her to return home due to financial difficulties!
Lilian could only afford to rent a medium-quality apartment. The environment there was worse than that of her family's servants.
Lilian pouted in disbelief, "I said such things to her today, and she's being this kind-hearted? Buying me a house and a car? She is obviously using my cousin's money, so hypocritical!"
Jamie glanced at the dissatisfied girl in the rearview mirror and smiled, "Miss Norton has misunderstood. Lady was suggesting she would rent a bachelor apartment for you and the car would be a transportation vehicle within a budget of one hundred thousand dollars.”
"The money is not from the young master. The rent will be deducted from your assistant salary, and the car can be considered as the Lady's gift for you. You'll still have to repay her even after you no longer work as her assistant."
"Oh my god!" Lilian widened her eyes, "She's so stingy?! That's terrifying, she is bullying me!"
Renting an apartment would be bearable but deducting it from her salary was unexpected!
A car worth over 100,000 dollars? Even at her worst, she would take the subway, which is a sophisticated means of transportation worth billions of dollars!
Jamie's smile grew wider. With a hint of amusement, he spoke on behalf of Natalie, "Miss Norton, actually, this is already quite good. Lady never willingly spends Young Master's money. She doesn't have much savings herself, and her private property is not abundant.”
Lilian was so angry that she didn't want to speak. Not only is this sister-in-law a deceitful illegitimate daughter who refuses to give her pineapple pie, but she's also a stingy poor woman!
She felt so frustrated and wronged! The more Lilian thought about it, the more upset she became.
She asked Jamie to drive to Paykston's most famous bakery and quickly went in to buy a pineapple pie. This pineapple pie... It didn't look as nice as Natalie's, and it didn't smell as delicious as Natalie's either.
She took a bite and chewed. It tasted average, didn't Natalie's taste better? The more Lilian thought about it, the more she wanted to taste Natalie's pineapple pie.
Jamie assured Lilian that he would take care of the apartment and car situation, and he would arrange for her to choose as soon as possible. After dropping her off at her doorstep, he could finally relax and return.
Lilian brooded in her apartment for two hours, considering the time difference. She waited for it to be morning in France, she finally called the people over there.
"Sister Susan, can you believe it? Cousin actually married Natalie! And she even bullies me!” Lilian's voice trembled as she spoke, but she stubbornly held back her tears.
Susan paused for a moment and spoke softly, with a hint of pleasure, "I'm sorry, Winnie. I didn't know that your cousin married Natalie. Otherwise, I would have told you myself. Then you wouldn't have liked Natalie for so long. I shouldn't have told you those things about brother's wife, and those things might not even be true. I only heard them from others.”
In fact, Susan started feeding Lilian information about her "sister-in-law” after learning about Lilian's fondness for Natalie.
"It's not your fault, Sister Susan. I knew you were close to my cousin, so I asked you to tell me about it. And it must be true. What you said matches perfectly with the negative information spread online about Natalie,” Lilian said.
The two of them chatted for a while. Lilian asked, "Sister Susan, when are you coming back to this country? I miss you.”
"I'll be back soon, and I'll take you out to play!” Susan said.
"Okay!” Lilian happily replied.
Natalie briefed Oliver on the tasks she had assigned to Jamie. After all, Lilian is Oliver's cousin.
Oliver was sitting in the study's office chair, reading documents. Hearing her words, he looked up with displeasure and said, "Natalie, do you have a lot of money?"
"Well..." Natalie was also unhappy, pouting her lips and sulking. "Oliver, she's your cousin!"
Natalie was the one who spent money to settle things, and now she was unhappy?
Oliver was indeed unhappy. "You weren't so generous when you spent money for me, were you?"
Natalie's annoyance instantly halted.
Oliver pinched Natalie's face, his tone slightly stinging, "She doesn't even like you, so why are you spending money for her?"
Unlike Lilian, Natalie understood her. Her fondness for Lilian surpassed the pain the girl had caused her. That's why she did all these things for her.
"Natalie, come here," Oliver suddenly beckoned to her.
Natalie thought he had something important to say, but when she approached, he swiftly grabbed her waist and sat her on his lap!
"I'll assign an assistant to you tomorrow and have Lilian fired," Oliver said, holding Natalie from behind with his chin resting on her shoulder.
"It's ticklish! Stop, please..." Natalie shrugged uncomfortably.
"Blame yourself for being too skinny." Oliver felt as if his chin was resting on her bones. Natalie couldn't be bothered to respond to his taunt. Shouldn't a model be slim?
Oliver wrote a bunch of numbers for Natalie, saying, "Contact her next time."
"Who is she?" Natalie looked at the phone numbers in her hand, a long and easy-to-remember sequence of digits that were generally work numbers purchased by executives for convenience.
"Abby," Oliver replied.
"If I remember correctly, she works for you, right?" Natalie asked. She once went to RK Group to look for Oliver, that girl had come into the office to deliver coffee.
She was not Oliver's chief secretary, but her skills and qualifications were second to none.
And Oliver wanted to assign this kind of elite assistant to her?!
Knowing he wouldn't joke about such matters, Natalie quickly shook her head.
