Chapter 923 Mr. Windsor, Long Time No See
Oliver rushed to the hospital as soon as he heard that Susan had appeared there.
Oliver and Samuel had been searching for Susan for a month without success. Now she had suddenly been brought to the hospital and had her bone marrow extracted smoothly.
Oliver was very curious about who was behind all this!
When Natalie saw Oliver, she couldn't hide her excitement, but a moment of guilt flashed in her eyes.
Natalie politely nodded at Eugene and then walked towards Oliver.
Her steps quickened with a bit of impatience.
Oliver looked over expressionlessly, opening his arms in a gesture to accept a hug.
Natalie hesitated for a moment. Eugene had just said those things to her, and now she was about to make an intimate gesture with Oliver right in front of him. Would that be appropriate?
However, this thought only flashed through her mind for a moment. Quickly, she went from walking to a small run and threw herself into Oliver's arms.
Two years ago, Natalie might have cared more about others' opinions, but now it was different.
Oliver hugged Natalie tightly, his right hand habitually ruffling her hair. His gaze fell on Eugene not far away, and he squinted slightly.
"Oliver, is your meeting over?"
"Yes." Oliver, who had temporarily halted an ongoing international meeting.
Noticing Oliver looking at Eugene with a very unfriendly expression, Natalie held his hand, her thumb gently stroking the back of his hand to calm him down. She quickly said, "It was Roger who brought Susan."
The matter of the dual personality was Roger's private affair. He had told Natalie about it as a sign of trust, but that didn't mean he wanted others to know.
Natalie chose to keep Roger's secret, even from Oliver.
"So it was him." Roger taking Susan was something Oliver hadn't expected but seemed to make sense.
Roger had the capability to do this and still harbored feelings for Natalie, possibly trying to win her favor through this act.
Oliver had underestimated Roger who had been out of the picture for so long that Oliver had almost forgotten about him.
"Mr. Windsor, long time no see." Eugene approached, with his eyes quickly sweeping over Natalie who tightly held Oliver's hand. The image of her running towards Oliver flashed in his mind, aching his heart intensely and blurring his consciousness for a moment. The other personality, Roger, was restless.
Natalie looked at Oliver nervously, afraid he would lose his temper.
Natalie knew all too well how petty Oliver could be!
"It has been a while," Oliver said indifferently, wrapping an arm around Natalie's waist with an unmistakable possessiveness. "For this matter, I, Oliver, owe you a favor. I'll also help you handle the follow-up."
Seeing that Oliver wasn't angry, Natalie breathed a sigh of relief.
"No one cares about your favor," Eugene said. He gave Natalie one more look before walking away. "As for the follow-up, not interfering would be the best help."
This statement indicated that Eugene had already thought of a corresponding strategy.
Oliver seemed to freeze his sight.
No one likes their loved one owing a favor to a rival, and this favor was particularly hard for Oliver to repay.
At least Roger wasn't wrong about one thing with his own measures in place, Oliver's interference would only complicate matters.
Moreover, it was strange for Roger to leave very decisively today, which was unusual.
"Oliver?" Natalie saw the man with a stern face, silent, and felt even more guilty. "Did you just... see something?"
Oliver seemed to know what Natalie was about to say and looked at her expressionlessly. "I saw it."
Oliver added, "You hugged another man right in front of me, Natalie. Are you thinking of cheating on me?"
As he said this, Oliver pinched Natalie's cheek, a bit harder than usual.
It didn't hurt but with a sense of punishment.
"We're just friends! Friends!" Natalie covered her face and took a step back, defending herself.
Oliver had a doubtful look on his face.
Natalie thought, ‘Fine. There is no need to wake someone who's pretending to be asleep."
"Alright. I know Roger likes me, but I have firmly told him that I love you." Natalie skillfully soothed the jealous Oliver. "Oliver, we've been married for so long, and Nathan is already six months old."
Natalie thought, ‘How could I have feelings for anyone else?’
Oliver softened his expression a bit, but he still looked at Natalie with a sour face, clearly wanting her to continue coaxing him.
With Lucas about to be saved, Natalie was in a good mood. She hooked her arms around Oliver's neck and gave him a kiss on the lips.
"Are you not upset anymore?" Natalie asked with a smile.
"Am I that easy to appease?" Oliver pretended to sneer coldly.
Natalie knew he was already appeased. She took Oliver's hand and started walking towards Lucas' room, planning to discuss the bone marrow transplant with the doctor.
"Natalie, stay away from Roger," Oliver said as he let Natalie lead him by the hand.
For a nearly thirty-year-old man, Oliver's words were adorably childish.
Natalie nodded in response, then realized it was too perfunctory and turned to ask Oliver, "But Roger helped me this time."
Natalie was always someone who repaid her debts.
"I'll handle the follow-up," Oliver said, not wanting Natalie to meet Roger more often.
Even if another man just looked at Natalie, Oliver felt it was a challenge to him.
"Alright, but you have to thank him for me. Speak nicely and don't throw a tantrum. He's Lucas' benefactor," Natalie said, knowing that it wasn't appropriate for her to meet Roger or Eugene too often.
Oliver grumbled but agreed.
"Natalie! I need to see Natalie! Come out here! Get Natalie to see me! I need her to give Susan an explanation today! I'm her mother. She can't refuse to see me!" As they approached the ICU area where Lucas was, Natalie could hear Helen's shouting from a distance.
The voice was very familiar.
Natalie faded her smile, and her face instantly turned cold.
Helen was sitting in the waiting room, crying and shouting for Natalie.
Not far from Helen, Susan lay on a sofa. She had somewhat recovered from the pain of the bone marrow extraction but was still crying pitifully, complaining to Helen about the pain.
"This is a hospital. Anyone with a bit of decency wouldn't be shouting. Can't you see the signs saying no loud speaking outside?" Natalie appeared at the door.
Fortunately, Lucas was in a special area without other patients there, so it wouldn't affect other patients and their families.
Helen was stunned, not expecting Natalie to suddenly appear. "Natalie, if I had known you were such a heartless woman, I wouldn't have given birth to you twenty years ago!"
"You said I was heartless last year, remember? You also called me a little bastard with an unknown background." When it came to verbal sparring, Natalie was no slouch.
"Who gave you permission to talk to me like that!" Helen changed her face slightly. She hadn't known Natalie was her biological daughter when she said those things.
Helen never expected Natalie to bring up those words so bluntly to insult her.
"Natalie, I don't want to talk about these irrelevant things," Helen said, holding Susan's hand. "How could you be so vicious, wanting Susan's bone marrow to save Lucas? You disregarded her health and even instigated your ex-lover to kidnap her. I've never seen someone as shameless and heartless as you! How did I give birth to you? Today, you must give Susan an explanation!" Helen added.
Susan, whether she had learned her lesson or was just too tormented, lay on the sofa crying, looking extremely wronged.
Having undergone a bone marrow extraction, Susan's already poor complexion looked even more haggard, making her appear very much the victim.
Oliver darkened his gaze. When he heard the words "ex-lover", he had a mind to send Helen to Africa.
However, Oliver now had a better way to torment Helen!
Natalie, the person involved, remained very calm, as if Helen's insults had nothing to do with her.
"Mrs. Hastings, I don't want to talk to you either," Natalie said, then called Samuel. "Your mother is at the hospital. Either you, James, Caleb or any other one, come and take her away. She's making a lot of noise here and claiming to be my mother."
The last sentence was filled with undisguised disdain.
