Chapter 968: Ask For the Death of Jane!
Aurora lay quietly on the hospital bed, staring unblinkingly at the door.
Aurora had another bleeding episode this time with signs of a miscarriage, so she had to stay in bed to protect the pregnancy.
A servant comforted her, saying, "Ms. Dewar, don't worry. Mrs. Clark will bring Mr. Clark to see you soon. You are Mr. Clark's fiancée and carrying his baby. Mr. Clark cares about you."
Aurora asked the servant uncertainly, "Really?"
"Of course!" The servant replied.
After a while, the door to the hospital room was pushed open.
As soon as Ann opened the door, she was met with Aurora's expectant gaze.
That look made Ann feel a bit heartbroken, yet also a bit irritated.
‘Aurora is so good. And Anthony shouldn't treat her this way. But why can’t Aurora be a bit more assertive? I have already given her the title and the engagement, yet Aurora still couldn't capture Anthony's heart,’ Ann pondered.
"Ann, didn't Anthony come with you?" Aurora looked behind Ann, not seeing Anthony. Her disappointment was tinged with a bit of hopeful expectation.
"He had something to do and went back first." Ann couldn't bear to tell Aurora that Anthony didn't care about her at all.
Before Anthony left, Ann had asked him what he planned to do about Aurora, who not only had an engagement with him but was also carrying his child, even if he liked Jane.
Anthony had merely sneered, so Ann felt there was something she didn't know that made Anthony confident in this battle of love and family.
The light in Aurora's eyes completely dimmed, like stars covered in dust.
"Ann, you also have an appointment with Mrs. White from the White Group today. You don't need to stay with me at the hospital. You should go," Aurora said tiredly.
"Aurora..." Ann was still worried.
"Ann, you should go," Aurora insisted.
Even as a wealthy lady, there were social engagements that couldn’t be avoided. Many social circles' appointments could be declined, but once accepted, they must be attended unless one didn’t care about their reputation or connections within the circle.
Ann cared a lot about both her reputation and connections.
Ann indeed had no mind to comfort Aurora now. She didn't want to go to Mrs. White's appointment either. She just wanted to go home and think of a solution.
"Aurora, call your mother to come and stay with you. I'll be leaving now," Ann reminded.
" Get out." As soon as Ann left, Aurora coldly ordered the servants in the room.
The servants exchanged glances, worried that something might happen to Aurora if left alone. They hesitated for just half a second before Aurora shouted, "Get out! All of you, get out! Are you not listening to me anymore?"
The servants hurriedly ran out. As soon as they closed the door, they heard the sound of things being smashed inside.
They exchanged glances and shook their heads.
They had never seen this side of the usually gentle Ms. Dewar.
After smashing everything within reach, Aurora broke down in tears but didn't dare to cry out loud, fearing the people outside would hear.
‘If the servants hear me crying, they will only feel more pity for me and be more convinced that I’m about to lose Anthony,’ Aurora thought.
Not knowing how much time had passed, there was a knock on the door.
A servant's excited voice came from outside. "Ms. Dewar, Mr. Clark is here to see you!"
Aurora's sobbing stopped abruptly. She choked back her tears and quickly wiped them away. Tidying herself up, she called out, "Come in."
"Anthony." Aurora's eyes were still red, but her expression was joy.
Anthony was cold as ice. He raised his hand, holding a small transparent sealed bag containing some powder.
"Who put this on Jane’s bed?" Anthony asked.
"Anthony, what are you talking about?" Aurora was completely confused.
"This stuff was found on your bed." Anthony's gaze was terrifying and his voice was equally menacing, as if he wanted to devour someone. “Who put it there?"
Sensing the gravity of the situation, a servant quickly called Ann.
Ann had just left the hospital not long ago. When she returned, she found Anthony standing by Aurora's bed, looking like he was ready to accuse someone. Aurora was lying on the bed, clutching her stomach, her face wet with tears.
"I don't know. I didn't do anything, Anthony. Why would I want to harm Ms. Watkins?" Aurora answered.
"What happened?" Ann furrowed her brow deeply. "Aurora, what's wrong? Don't cry."
Aurora, as if finally finding someone to rely on, buried her head in Ann's arms, crying, "Ann, Anthony suspects that I harmed Ms. Watkins. I didn't, really!"
Ann, hearing this, glared at Anthony. "Anthony! What are you doing? Stop your nonsense! If Aurora wanted to harm Jane, would she choose this time? Has your brain gone to Jane?"
Anthony sat down on a nearby chair and pointed to the bag of mug bean powder he had brought. "This was found on Jane’s bed, the allergen that almost caused her to go into shock. Why would this stuff appear on Jane’s bed out of nowhere?"
It was clear to anyone that this was intentional. Someone asked for the death of Jane!
"What is this stuff? Being found on Jane’s bed doesn't mean it has anything to do with Aurora." Ann tried to touch the bag of mug bean powder, but Anthony stopped her.
Anthony hadn't explained what it was. It was best for those who didn't know to remain ignorant.
Aurora suddenly remembered something. "Right, a few friends came over to the house today. Could it be..."
When Anthony heard Aurora say "house," he instinctively frowned, full of disgust because that was not Aurora's house.
"Like who?" Anthony asked Aurora.
Aurora had stopped crying and called a servant to question them about who had been upstairs that day, but the answer was no one.
A guest, unless invited by the host, wouldn’t casually go upstairs.
"There's one more person!" Aurora remembered. "Shirley. She stayed behind to keep me company for a while. She mentioned wanting to look around."
Anthony let out a cold laugh.
The laugh sent chills down Aurora's spine. "Anthony..."
"Aurora, do you really think the Clark family is your home? It's one thing to bring your friends over for afternoon tea, but you let them wander around?"
Aurora had long considered herself the mistress of the Clark family. Anthony's words felt like a slap in the face, and she couldn't argue against him.
"Anthony, I allowed it," Ann intervened to defend Aurora.
Anthony didn't have the time to argue with Ann and Aurora about this issue now.
Anthony asked Aurora, "Are you saying that Shirley you mentioned scattered this stuff on Jane’s bed?"
Anthony's intent to hold someone accountable was too obvious. Ann was very displeased.
"Anthony, Shirley is the only daughter of the Lopez family. Even if she did it, are you planning to go against the Lopez family for Jane?"
