Chapter 997 Your Husband Will Be Furious
"Do you have time to come back?" Natalie asked casually. When Jane left Paykston, she said she was going on a photography trip, but Natalie didn't believed her and she couldn't question her.
In the world of adults, understanding was often the best comfort.
"I should be able to and I'll try my best," Jane replied with a smile. "My godson or goddaughter will definitely become famous nationwide in the future!"
Natalie was amused. She only wished for her child's safety and happiness and everything else could follow naturally.
"Jane, if you encounter any difficulties or worries, you must tell me, okay?"
Jane understood what Natalie was saying. She also knew that it was hard to hide the fact that she went abroad for photography from Natalie, who had always been perceptive and insightful.
Because Natalie was perceptive enough, she handled everything appropriately without crossing the line. She wouldn't send people to find out where Jane really was, wouldn't expose Jane's lies, and wouldn't tear off Jane's facade.
Natalie would just stand there and say to Jane, "If you need anything, you can call me anytime. I can move forward with you, or you can run back, and I will always catch you."
Jane's eyes felt a bit sore, but she quickly suppressed the feeling and pretended to say mischievously, "I do have something to tell you. I met someone today and made a deal with her. My bargaining chip was to introduce her to you."
"Alright, send me her information later," Natalie laughed and joked, "Jane, since I'm your bargaining chip, shouldn't you give your godson a super big red envelope?"
"Are you sure it's a son?" Jane's focus was different from Natalie's.
"No." Natalie said, "Just a guess!"
"Then I'll guess it's a son too. If it really is a son, your husband will be furious."
Natalie and Jane laughed together. One of the joys for them was teasing men.
The suite had only one bed.
Jane originally thought she would have to face the awkwardness of chatting with Anthony under the covers or letting him sleep on the sofa. Unexpectedly, Anthony hadn't returned by the time she fell asleep.
Even though the luxury cruise ship was large enough, there was still a slight sensation on the sea. The wind blowing through the window carried a salty smell of the sea. Not being used to the bed, Jane didn't sleep well and woke up early, just before six o'clock.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she was greeted by the beautiful sight of the sunrise over the sea.
Golden sunlight spread across the entire sea surface, and soon a yolk-like orb slowly emerged.
Jane, wrapped in a cashmere shawl, stood on the balcony and watched the entire sunrise, feeling very fortunate that the two people in the neighboring suite were not making love on their balcony today.
Jane opened the door and stood there for a while. Soon, Anthony's bodyguard, disguised as a waiter, approached.
"Your boss didn't come back last night?" Jane thought at first that Anthony had returned and left early, but she saw no signs of anyone else entering the suite.
"No, he didn't." The bodyguard, who had been stationed outside Jane's door to ensure her safety, was unsure of Anthony's whereabouts. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Shall I ask?"
After all, Jane was the woman Anthony cherished, and he couldn't afford to neglect her.
"No need," Jane had no interest in tracking Anthony's movements and she wasn't anyone special to him.
Jane returned to her room, turned on her laptop, made the final edits to her photography work, uploaded it to the competition website, and casually ordered breakfast service.
After yesterday's event, Jane didn't dare to go out casually. Fortunately, she didn't know many of the people on the ship, and in this situation, she didn't want to interact with those who were eager to see her make a fool of herself. So, she simply lay on the deck chair on the balcony of her suite, basking in the sun.
When Anthony returned to the room, he saw Jane lying flat on the chair with sunglasses on. On the small floral tea table beside her were two stacks of snacks and a cup of English milk tea.
She looked really leisurely .
Jane heard the sound and slowly sat up. When she turned and saw Anthony, her expression was somewhat dazed.
Jane was so comfortable in the sun that she almost fell asleep.
"Are you done with your work?" Jane asked casually, not really caring.
But Anthony was evidently serious. "I was busy..."
Anthony closed his eyes tightly, as if trying to hold back his temper.
Jane had thought Anthony stayed out all night for something important, but now it seemed to be different.
He didn't seem to be in a good mood now.
"I'm going to take a shower," Anthony said, looking disdainfully at his outfit, and strode into the bathroom.
Jane became interested.
Anthony was still wearing the same clothes he had on when they boarded the ship yesterday, which meant he hadn't been messing around last night. Although Anthony was rough, he was very particular about cleanliness, especially for himself. Once he took off his clothes, he would never wear them again.
After showering, Anthony came out in a bathrobe, his hair barely dried and still dripping.
Jane, with her hand on the back of the sofa, curiously asked Anthony, "With that long face, what did you do last night?"
Anthony's face turned even sourer at Jane's words.
Anthony had originally thought it would be a perfect opportunity to spend some time with Jane in cruise ship;there was only one bed in the suit, even if he had to sleep on the sofa, Jane would inevitably haggle over it.
Anthony loved Jane's expressions of not being able to endure any grievances or hardships. She would definitely demand he to sleep on the sofa and argue with him.
However, last night, Anthony was taken out for a few rounds of cards by a Western European business associate. When he was trying to find an excuse to leave, Richard showed up.
It was as if Richard appeared just to keep Anthony there, using a bunch of high-sounding reasons to keep Anthony at the card table. The other guests didn't know the relationship between Richard and Anthony and their past. They all chimed in, making Anthony stay and play cards.
Richard, as rumored, was cunning and deliberately fed Anthony cards, making him the biggest winner at the table.
And there was no way that a winner could leave the table early.
Anthony played all night and won an eight-figure sum, but he was fuming inside.
During the night, Anthony went to the restroom, and when he came out, Richard was outside smoking.
He was waiting for Anthony.
Anthony remembered how Jane described Richard in her youth that he was like a disciplinarian.
In reality, Richard was a deeply scheming old fox.
Richard blew a ring of smoke, looked at Anthony with a gentlemanly smile, and got straight to the point. "Mr. Clark, given your current status, it's not appropriate to be alone with Ms. Watkins late at night. But the card table is a good place. I'll keep Mr. Clark company for the night."
"Who needs your company!" Anthony muttered a curse.
