Chapter 980 Have You Seen Jane?
Jane continued to press Anthony for more information about Jovan, but Anthony only responded, "I don't know."
"Anthony, I know you must know. Could you please tell me?" Jane pondered for a moment. The she said, "Or is there something else you want me to do? I can trade with you."
Anthony's gaze darkened, and he said meaningfully, "What are you prepared to trade?"
"I..."
"Yourself?" Anthony interrupted Jane, gripping her chin and asking in a low voice.
Jane's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly squinted her eyes in anger, slapping Anthony's hand away.
"What kind of daydream are you having? You want me to trade myself for information? Do you not care about Aurora Dewar?" Jane deliberately laughed, "You know, I can't stand being wronged. Are you planning to let Aurora Dewar and your future precious child be wronged?"
Just from the speed at which Anthony rushed to the hospital yesterday, Jane knew he couldn't bear it.
"Jane, what are you talking about?"
Anthony suspected that Jane hadn't listened to any of his words.
"Well, since the check-up is over, shouldn't we be leaving?" Jane started walking out, not wanting to stay a moment longer.
Anthony caught up in two strides and roughly ruffled Jane's hair.
Jane glared back, her face clearly saying, "Are you crazy?"
"Don't you want to know more about Jovan Watkins?" Anthony asked as they walked.
"I do, but you won't tell me easily," Jane said. "Today you might make me trade myself, and tomorrow you might make me do something even worse. Jovan would be furious after knowing that."
Jovan being angry was one thing, but Anthony was already quite angry.
"Where are you going?" Anthony grabbed Jane. "The parking lot is this way."
"To the mall to buy something. Is that not allowed, Mr. Clark?"
Anthony thought Jane was in an especially bad mood today, as if he had offended her somehow.
"Get in the car, I'll take you," Anthony said, pulling Jane towards the parking lot. "You can't get a cab outside this private hospital."
Most people who came here drove their own cars.
Half an hour later, the imposing Knight XV stopped at the most luxurious shopping district in the city center.
Even in a place teeming with the wealthy, the Knight XV stood out, more eye-catching than a fleet of Ferraris and Paganis.
Even more attention was drawn to Anthony and Jane as they got out of the carbecause of their charming appearance.
Jane was used to the gaze from others but didn't want her face to be seen with Anthony's at the same time.
She quickly bought a baseball cap and put it on.
"What about mine?" Anthony asked, seeing Jane's empty hands.
"What?"
"The cap." Anthony pointed to the new, highly fashionable silver cap on Jane's head.
"Yours? I didn't buy it." Jane rolled her eyes and said sarcastically, "We have nothing to do with each other. My family is bankrupt, I'm very poor, and you expect me to buy you a cap?"
Jane's expression was a clear message of"dream on".
Anthony admitted the bankruptcy of Jane’s family was his doing.
But Jane was poor? That was impossible.
With the trust fund Anthony had set up for Jane since childhood, she could receive hundreds of thousands of dollars every month. Jane would never be poor.
Even if it came to that, Anthony wouldn't let Jane be poor.
Anthony, fuming inside, walked away in a few quick strides.
Jane curled her lips coldly. 'So, he got angry and left just like that? He wants to care for Aurora in the hospital while trying to fool me?' Jane thought.
Jane quickly walked towards the store she intended to visit. After all, she was in the city center, and there were plenty of taxis. She didn't have to rely on Anthony's car.
Jane placed her selected items on the counter and was about to pay with her phone when a voice came from behind. "Swipe my card."
At the same time, Anthony snatched her phone away.
Anthony, now wearing a matching men's version of Jane's baseball cap, held Jane's phone in his left hand and handed his black card to the cashier with his right hand.
Seeing Jane's puzzled look, Anthony raised an eyebrow and said, "Aren't you very poor? I'll treat you."
After hearing this, the cashier glanced at the underwear she was packing and then at Anthony, whose face was obscured by the cap, and couldn't help but show a strange expression.
'Treating someone to underwear is indeed rare,' the cashier thought.
"I can buy it myself." Jane felt uncomfortable at the thought of underwear paid for by Anthony.
Anthony sneered, "You couldn't even afford to buy me an extra baseball cap. How do you have money?"
Jane thought Anthony was unbelievable.
Several sales assistants nearby couldn't hide their curiosity and odd expressions. Fortunately, this mall's level was high, and there were usually few shoppers. At the moment, there were no other customers in the store.
Jane felt she would be considered crazy if she discussed this with Anthony here. She told the cashier, "I don't want the items." Then she stormed out.
'Anthony has no right to forcefully pay for my underwear!
'Anthony has no such qualification!' Jane thought.
"Wrap it up and use my card," Anthony told the cashier. He then asked, "Did she show interest in any other clothes?"
The sales assistant who had served Jane mentioned a few outfits Jane had lingered over.
"Wrap them all," Anthony said.
The sales assistant beamed with joy, packing the items while praising. "Sir, you are so good to your girlfriend!"
Anthony liked the term.
After buying the clothes, Anthony quickly walked in the direction Jane had gone. After ten minutes, he still hadn't seen her.
Anthony suddenly had a bad feeling and called the bodyguard stationed outside the mall.
"Have you seen Jane?"
The bodyguard was stunned. "No, Ms. Watkins isn't with you?"
Then both Anthony and the bodyguard realized Jane might be in trouble.
Jane, fuming as she left the lingerie store, soon felt someone was following her.
Jovan had always cherished his sister Jane. Seeing her grow more beautiful, he had taught her self-defense and counter-surveillance skills. Later when Jane wanted to talk more with Anthony, she often pretended to discuss such topics with him.
To ensure safety, Jane quickly chose a store to enter, pretending to browse clothes while using the mirror to observe her surroundings. Sure enough, she spotted two suspicious men.
The two men were dressed inconspicuously, as if they didn't know each other. But through her careful observation, there was subtle eye contact between them. Moreover, it was inherently suspicious to see someone dressed in such a manner at a shopping mall of this scale, with their entire outfit not exceeding to a hundred dollars..
Jane moved to another store to "shop" and found the two men had reappeared within her sight.
They were watching Jane like predators eyeing their prey.
Although Jane was good at fighting, those two men were clearly professionals.
Two against one, Jane would likely lose.
Jane regretted leaving Anthony in a fit of anger.
