Chapter 1034 Jane, get up
The next afternoon, the doctor and nurse came to check on Anthony. The wound was healing well, and the gauze was a layer thinner than before after the dressing change.
"Mr. Clark, based on your current recovery, you might be left with a faint scar. But It's not noticeable. Do you want to go straight for cosmetic scar removal, or would you prefer to use ointment first?" the doctor asked while finishing the bandaging.
"Scar removal?" Anthony was puzzled for a moment and quickly refused, "No need for that. It would be too much trouble."
The attending doctor gave Jane a suspicious look. Seeing that Jane didn't say anything, he didn't bring it up again. After all, it was Jane who had previously mentioned scar removal, but it seemed like she and Anthony hadn't discussed it thoroughly.
"Doctor, how long will it take for this wound to heal?" Jane asked, sitting nearby the whole time.
"It should scab over in about a week."
"Okay. Thank you, doctor."
Once the scab fell off, the wound would be completely healed.
In fact, after it scabed over, the wound wouldn't be much of an issue.
After seeing off the doctor and nurse, Jane opened her phone calendar.
Anthony glanced over and saw Jane counting days on the calendar, which gave him an unpleasant suspicion that she was planning to leave.
"Jane," Anthony suddenly called out to Jane.
Jane looked up.
"Has my mother contacted you privately?" Anthony suddenly thought of this possibility.
Jane looked at Anthony. "Does it matter?"
"Jane, if you don't like her, you don't have to meet her in the future," Anthony said. Then he felt unease to say "don't like", because she was his mother after all.
Jane felt inexplicably annoyed. "I indeed won't meet her on my own. I have no intention or desire to do so. But, what does that have to do with you?"
Jane pretended not to understand Anthony's implication.
Anthony might think that even if she became Anthony's wife, she could avoid meeting Ann.
'But how could that be? That premise simply doesn't exist,' Jane thought.
Anthony was woken up in the morning by a call from Clint.
"Mr. Clark, Mrs. Clark has come to Fae City to find you."
"She knows our address?" Anthony instantly woke up.
"Yes, I'm calling you from the bathroom and we're about to board the plane. She got the address of your mansion, but I don't know how she got it."
"I see."
No one had actively told Ann about the address of the mansion, but if Ann was determined to find it, it was possible. Especially after the gallery incident, it wasn't a secret that Jane and Anthony were staying in Fae City temporarily. Fae City was of moderate size, and there were only a few houses that Jane and Anthony would consider. A little inquiry would reveal their whereabouts.
Jane was woken up by a knock on the door. She irritably wrapped the blanket around her head, feeling quite agitated.
Anthony opened the door and saw Jane already bundled up in the blanket, just a small bump in the middle of the blanket.
"Jane, get up."
Anthony gently patted the small bump.
Jane's hips shifted forward. She curled up in a different direction.
Anthony watched the movement under the blanket and then looked at the hand he had used to pat Jane, unconsciously clenching it.
No wonder it felt so round and bouncy, because he had patted just the right spot.
"Jane, get up," Anthony urged again. "If you don't get up, I'll pull the blanket off."
A furious roar came from under the blanket. "Stop bothering me!"
Although she roared, Jane wasn't fully awake yet. Her voice had a soft, cutesy tone that wasn't intimidating at all but rather made one's ears tingle.
"Jane, get up."
Jane, unable to bear the disturbance, suddenly threw off the blanket and glared angrily at Anthony, who shouldn't have been in her room but was now sitting by her bed. She said, "Anthony Clark, are you crazy? Did I disturb you when you were sleeping? Get out!"
Jane glanced at her phone to check the time. It was only 7:03.
Jane angrily pointed at the phone screen. "What time is it? Look, what time is it? I'm actually taking care of you, but I'm not your servant!"
Jane had a bad temper when waking up, and Anthony was used to it. After she yelled for a while, he calmly asked, "Are you awake now?"
Jane was even more furious. "Get out!"
Disturbing someone's sleep was an unforgivable crime.
"Get up," Anthony gently patted Jane's rosy cheek. "We need to go out later."
After making sure Jane didn't fall back asleep, he left the room.About ten minutes later, Jane, who had been sitting on the bed in a daze, gradually regained her senses and touched her face.
'Did Anthony just pat me like he would with his brother?' Jane thought.
Jane changed into a simple shirt and jeans, went downstairs with a long face, and asked Anthony, "Where does an injured person like you want to go?"
"We'll talk about it when we're out." Anthony planned to take Jane out before Ann arrived in Fae City. He wanted to avoid Jane running into Ann and getting upset.
Jane thought Anthony had something important that required her participation and wondered if she needed to rush to the mall to buy a slightly more formal outfit.
Unexpectedly, a Maybach was parked outside the mansion, and there was no driver in the car.
"You want me to be the driver?" Jane couldn't believe it. "Although I'm half your servant now, I'm not your driver, okay?"
Jane paused for a second and continued, "Unless you pay extra."
Anthony was amused by Jane's last sentence. "Jane, how poor are you? I gave you my secondary card, and you didn't want it. But now you're asking for money to drive."
Jane felt that Anthony wanted to add, "Is your brain not working well?"
"Labor deserves reward." Jane said righteously, "I've never been anyone's driver. Being your driver is a privilege for you."
Anthony chuckled. He called over a bodyguard and had him bring a bank card, which he handed to Jane himself.
The driving fee was just something Jane said casually, not really intending to take Anthony's money. Nevertheless, when that the card was handed to her, she thought it would make her previous words seem unfounded if she refused to accept it.
Jane looked at Anthony unbelievably. She took the card to check it, confirming it was just a regular debit card.
"How much money is in here?" Jane asked.
"I don't know. You'll have to check." Anthony said, "Hurry up and get in the car."
The bodyguard put Anthony's wheelchair in the trunk, and Anthony got into the passenger seat.
