Chapter 681 Mine

The melodious waltz began to play.

Oliver made an inviting gesture and asked with a smile, "Would you care to dance with me, my dear?"

Natalie's lips curled into a smile as she placed her hand in his.

They started to waltz slowly along with the music. Surrounding them were couples of various ages and styles and picked different dances to enjoy. The music selection varied from rumba to tango, and even hip-hop to classical dance, all took to the floor in their own way.

Natalie felt the atmosphere was a completely different kind of romance from the one she experienced on the rooftop where Oliver had designed his proposal. At this moment, it was as if she was submerged in pink bubbles, surrounded by various forms of happiness. With a quick glance, she could see different faces, smiles, and joy.

"Having fun?" Oliver looked at Natalie's smiling face. They were so close he could almost see the stars sparkling in her eyes.

Natalie nodded.

Given the choice, Oliver would have preferred to rent out the venue, hire the best designer, and have the place to themselves rather than feeling like they were part of a dumpling-making crowd.
But Natalie's nod was enough to change his mind.

The dancing moved through a couple of songs, with the music gradually coming to a halt. Spotlights scanned the crowd, finally coming to rest on them as the music stopped altogether. The light was blinding, and Oliver frowned slightly. The two stood in the circular spotlight, the center of attention.

"Congratulations to this lady and gentleman for becoming our couple of the day, and for winning a year of free entry to our amusement park!" The host, dressed as an exaggerated clown, pointed excitedly in Natalie and Oliver's direction.

Oliver found the light painfully bright and shielded Natalie's eyes, thinking to himself irritably about not needing the free tickets.

Applause broke out all around. Even though others weren't chosen, they didn't hesitate to wish well to a fellow couple.

The amusement park staff had noticed Natalie and Oliver early on. The pair, low-key with baseball caps pulled low, had an air of uniqueness that stood out. To no one's surprise, the park had set their sights on this couple even before they came in.

Especially after they traded their caps for masks, revealing the striking lower halves of their faces, an image that stirred the imagination.

The big screen lit up, projecting Natalie and Oliver for all to see. Their looks instantly silenced the crowd, followed by an explosion of excitement.

"Are these two here to make us feel utterly humble?" people might wonder. But after all, who doesn't enjoy looking at attractive people?

"Are the two of you a couple?" the clown host approached with a microphone.

"Married,” Oliver answered.

Oliver disliked the forced exposure and the interview, but knowing how Natalie was about following the rules, he contained his irritation and simply answered curtly, "Can you turn off the light? It's blinding."

He uttered a question that carried the inclination of "huh?" but every person in the audience felt as if they had received a commanding imperative sentence, and his righteous tone made them instinctively show respect.

The intensity of the spotlight dimmed.

Only when the glare was no longer blinding did Oliver remove his hand from Natalie's eyes.

"Whoa!" echoed throughout the venue.

One girl chided her boyfriend, "You might not be able to match someone's height, looks, or charm, but could you please at least try to learn how to be as considerate?"

The host, surprised, asked, "You two look so young, are you already married?"

"Is there a law that says young-looking people can't get married?" Oliver shot back with an icy stare.

Was this random bystander honestly questioning his marriage? Oliver and Natalie's marriage was legally recognized and protected in black and white!

"Don't mind him; he's got a bit of a temper," Natalie interjected quickly, seeing the host's discomfort, and she discreetly tugged at the hem of Oliver's shirt.

"No problem at all. Handsome guys tend to have a bad temper. I mean, Mr. Windsor from the influential Windsor Group is quite the looker too, and isn't he known for having a bad temper as well?" the host said, jokingly.

Natalie thought to herself, "...I feel like I can't save you from this."

Oliver didn't think much of it and didn't respond after glancing at the host. After all, he was known to have a temper.

The experienced host wasn't fazed by a cold look and continued, "On behalf of all the staff members of our park, I wish you both a lifetime of happiness! Now, if I may ask a few questions—Sir, if you could describe your wife in one word, what would it be?"

This was a standard question, and the men in the audience who were there with their girlfriends were also being prompted to answer. The usual answers were kind, beautiful, elegant, lively, humorous, cute.

Oliver's gaze lingered on the microphone before him, then turned to Natalie at his side, who was looking at him with bright eyes full of expectation. She, too, was curious to know how he would describe her.

Oliver's lips curved in a barely noticeable smirk, and he said softly, "Mine."

The crowd fell silent for a second, then erupted into resounding applause!

"Mine," both possessive and powerful, a perfect score of an answer!

Natalie couldn't help but laugh, feeling waves of sweetness wash over her.

"Look at how well he speaks! You just said I was kind. Am I not pretty? What's the use of being kind?" another girl said to her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend, at a loss, replied, "...Mine, you are mine!" It was a tough act to follow!

The host's smile widened, quite pleased with the answer. It seemed that despite his temper, this gentleman had a way with words.

It might not be that bad; at least it had its memorable lines. "Now, ma'am, could you describe your husband in one word?" the crowd speculated that the lady might use "yours" to show off their sweet relationship, but Natalie, bashful by nature, pondered for a moment and said, "One word is not enough to describe him."

The host pressed on, "Then choose the word that represents the biggest impression he gives you right now, a descriptive word that comes to your mind." Natalie looked into Oliver's eyes, hiding behind his mask, and smiled, "Shameless."

The host and the audience were stunned. Only Oliver burst into laughter, not only did he not dispute the remark, but he also seemed delighted, which was puzzling to everyone. "Shameless" sounded almost like a compliment.

The host, finding the humor in the situation, said "How playful," and moved on to the next question. "Sir, what do you think is your wife's greatest strength?" "Her discerning eyes," Oliver replied.

"Oh? That's an unusual answer. Can you tell me why?" Oliver's voice softened, his eyes full of Natalie, "She chose me and married me."

"Shameless!" Natalie laughed, playfully scolding him. Their words, picked up by the microphone, echoed through the speakers, reaching everyone's ears. The woman on the big screen, even behind a mask, couldn't hide her blushing charm, her clear and bright almond eyes looking tenderly at him.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
