Chapter 322 Oliver Needs Comforting
Jamie chuckled. "Lilian, I was sent here to be your porter by Oliver.”
Lilian scoffed playfully, but she was rather satisfied with the answer.
"Why are your flights always delayed?” Oliver complained while examining Natalie from head to toe, making sure she was okay. After confirming she was fine, he began to grow dissatisfied when he thought of her late arrival.
Natalie felt helpless. The flight delays were not her fault, and it had only happened twice.
‘Why does he exaggerate?’
Natalie knew Oliver had a bad temper, so she did not argue with him. She did not expect him to pick her up, and she was actually rather happy.
"Are the flowers for me?" Natalie, in a good mood, asked as she raised her head to look at the black roses in Oliver’s hand, trying to change the topic.
Black roses were rare, and sometimes, even money alone could not buy them.
"If not for you, then for whom?" Oliver handed the flowers to Natalie.
"Thank you!" Natalie smiled as she took the flowers and sniffed.
‘They smell so good!’
Oliver’s expression seemed to thaw at this moment.
“Why did you suddenly bring me flowers?”
Previously, Oliver did not bring her flowers.
Oliver did not answer, looking at her with an expression that seemed to say, ‘Do I have to have a reason to bring flowers?’
Just as the group was about to leave the airport, a commotion suddenly broke out.
"He’s here! He’s here!"
"Jacob, I love you!"
"Jacob, we have been really worried about you! How was the flight?"
"Jacob, you don’t have to look at me, but please just look at the camera!"
The passionate fans were shouting, holding up signs and banners.
Security guards rushed to maintain order.
From a distance, Natalie saw a man clad in a black down jacket and a black mask, striding confidently in a pair of Doc Martens, flanked by bodyguards and assistants.
Having spent two days together in close quarters, Natalie recognized Jacob almost immediately.
Jacob had traveled to Europe for an event today, and his flight was scheduled to arrive three hours earlier, but it was delayed due to inclement weather.
Natalie narrowly avoided being bumped into by an enthusiastic fan, and Oliver quickly drew her into his embrace.
With one arm carefully protecting Natalie, his gaze was sharp as he looked at the fans.
"Let’s go," Natalie suggested. She knew Oliver disliked being featured in the news, and she herself had no desire to become a trending topic on the Internet again. After all, she had been the subject of trending news before due to the industry she was in.
Oliver's brows knitted together, and Jamie hastily explained, "These are Jacob's fans who came to see him. I’ve already contacted the staff to assist us in leaving... Ah, here they are."
No sooner had Jamie finished speaking than the airport manager personally arrived to escort Oliver and the others, guiding them through the VIP channel.
The group proceeded discreetly and quietly, yet their attempts to keep a low profile only served to attract more attention. After all, when airport staff took measures to clear a path, it would inevitably draw attention.
"Natalie!" Jacob called out enthusiastically when he noticed Natalie.
Unsurprisingly, as soon as his voice fell, everyone’s gaze followed his gaze.
Natalie hesitated for a moment, cursing Jacob inwardly. Outwardly, she managed a polite smile and waved in greeting.
“What a coincidence!”
Jacob had initially intended to invite Natalie out for supper. However, he dismissed the idea when he saw the man next to Natalie. The man’s stunning face was expressionless, and his gaze was cold when he looked at him.
Jacob knew Oliver did not like him, so as soon as he noticed Oliver, he made a gesture of goodbye. He had no wish to interact with that powerful man.
Before anyone had the chance to react, Natalie and her entourage had swiftly left the scene.
In the chaos, a quick-thinking entertainment reporter jotted down notes without being noticed.
…
Oliver's expression had soured from the moment they left the airport and remained so all the way back to Rosewood Estate.
Upon their arrival home, he chose not to go to the bedroom but instead locked himself in the study.
This left Natalie somewhat puzzled.
Jamie, who had yet to leave, noticed Natalie’s puzzled expression and decided to suggest, “Why don’t you go and comfort him?”
“Huh? Why does he need comforting?” Natalie was genuinely perplexed. The idea of Oliver needing comfort seemed quite foreign to her, yet she was beginning to understand the dynamics a bit better.
“He was really worried about your safety earlier. The weather today was terrible, and upon learning that your flight had already departed, he spent the entire day checking the weather and monitoring your flight. However, when you arrived… you didn’t comfort him at all…”
Feeling a twinge of guilt, Natalie had not realized Oliver would worry about her over a delayed flight.
"The flowers today were also prepared in advance by him. He brought flowers for Susan previously, and since he had done so for her, he felt that you deserved the best. Alas, you didn’t seem particularly happy earlier,” Jamie added.
In reality, Natalie was quite happy; she was merely more reserved in her reaction.
Jamie elaborated, "Moreover, we ran into Jacob as well. Oliver already dislikes Jacob, so this doesn’t help matters. You even greeted him.”
"I haven't been in touch with Jacob at all since the show!"
Natalie sighed, contemplating how she might comfort Oliver. She found it odd yet amusing and endearing that such incidents could upset him.
At that moment, Natalie received a message from Jacob.
Jacob: [Have you made up with your husband?]
This was Jacob's first time reaching out to Natalie since their show appearance, aside from asking for help in a game.
Natalie: [Yes.]
Jacob: [I'm glad you've made up. By the way, your husband looked at me earlier as though I was some homewrecker. I was too afraid to invite you for supper because of him!]
After receiving Jacob’s messages, Natalie made her way upstairs. However, upon reaching the study, she discovered it was empty.
She then proceeded to the master bedroom, where she found Oliver lying motionless in the middle of the oversized bed, appearing to be asleep.
‘He’s sleeping? How’s that possible?’
Natalie smiled and walked toward the figure who was feigning sleep.
