Chapter 827 It's Great to Be Alive!
The others immediately responded.
"Natalie is always so straightforward!"
"Barrett, get everything ready for the pool and bowling equipment!"
"The wine! The wine I gave you last time is really good, bring it out!"
Barrett glanced at the person who wanted the wine and said, "You want me to serve you the wine you gave me?"
The person replied, "I'm not a stranger; what is yours is mine! Hurry, have your staff bring the wine up!"
The service at the high-end club was exceptional, as was their efficiency. In less than ten minutes, the 'elegant' people and decorations in the hall were replaced with the usual items for the young people to enjoy. Everyone finally felt at ease.
"I'll treat everyone today; have fun," Oliver, who was sitting on the sofa with Natalie in his arms, said.
Barrett said jokingly, "Oliver, are you here to give me money? Normally, I should be the one paying at my club. Or rather, my brother's club. However, since you want to treat us, my brother and I will respect your intentions!"
The amount of money spent at the club was insignificant to Oliver, and Barrett's words were merely polite.
"I'll take this opportunity to share something with everyone," Oliver said.
Everyone looked at him. To be honest, they rarely interacted with Oliver on a personal level; most of the time, they just drank with him or let him pick up the tab. They could not imagine what Oliver, with his business acumen, would have to say to them. Surely they would not understand what he was about to say, right? That would make them seem ignorant!
Natalie looked at Oliver suspiciously. She had a vague, but it seemed unlikely. He was not the type to show off, after all.
In front of everyone, Oliver leaned over and kissed Natalie on the cheek before he said, "Natalie is pregnant. You can start preparing your gifts."
The lively atmosphere instantly quieted down. Everyone looked puzzled, wondering if they had heard correctly.
Oliver was very satisfied with their reactions. A smile had replaced his usually indifferent expression.
Natalie's hand, which had been resting on her belly, gently rubbed it, a smile playing on her lips.
Oliver was indeed showing off, and he chose a grand moment to do so.
After the crowd reacted, a chorus of congratulations filled the room.
"Congratulations, Oliver! Congratulations, Natalie!"
"This news is so sudden!"
"Oliver, I can't afford the gift; only my parents can!"
"I'm not asking you to spend millions; you should all give something meaningful!"
Amidst the harmonious congratulations, a sudden, jarring scream pierced the air.
Mia, her hands clutching her chest, looked ecstatic, as if she could not catch her breath. "I'm going to be a grandmother! Ah, I have no regrets in this life!"
Mia's friends tried to cover her mouth, but it was too late.
Barrett and the others looked at her with a gaze that seemed to ask, 'Do you know what you're saying?'
Oliver and Natalie were having a baby, but Mia was already claiming to be a grandmother. Was she trying to be Oliver's mother or Natalie's mother?
In the eerie silence, accompanied by countless looks of pity, Mia, lost in her joy, finally snapped back to reality. Her slow mind recalled what she had just said, her expression suddenly blank.
Oliver and Natalie were staring at her.
"What just happened?" Mia asked, her expression changing instantly as if she had just lost her memory, "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
The others fell silent. Some of them did not know what to say either.
"Mia, you really deserve an Oscar," Mia's friend said admiringly.
Oliver subtly narrowed his eyes; obviously, Mia's little trick could not fool someone like him.
Natalie quietly tugged at his sleeve, indicating that he should not make a fuss.
Oliver glanced at Natalie, then looked at Mia again, and did not say anything more as if he had not heard what Mia had just said. He called for some food and freshly squeezed juice that Natalie liked.
Seeing that Oliver did not intend to make a fuss, the others quickly changed the subject, so Oliver would not focus on Mia.
As for Natalie? Natalie was smart, kind, gentle, considerate, and had always taken care of Mia. She would definitely not let Mia feel embarrassed.
"Oliver, your and Natalie's baby will surely be beautiful!" someone exclaimed.
"Not just beautiful! Their child's intelligence will be absolutely top-notch. Oliver and Natalie are both so smart!" another added.
"Compared to their child, I feel like I'm a waste of space," joked a third.
Mia let out a sigh of relief.
"What were you even thinking?" Barrett asked, his voice tinged with sarcasm.
Mia replied with a broad smile, "I can only say that It's great to be alive!"
Barrett and the others burst into laughter.
"Thanks to my friends for saving my life!" Mia, now out of danger, continued to joke, "But what I'm most grateful for is my goddess. I saw it; she was calming Oliver down. She's amazing!"
Barrett chuckled softly. "Oh, Natalie is your goddess, so Oliver is your son..."
"Barrett, shut up!" Mia quickly covered Barrett's mouth, saying, "If you say anything more, I'll tell Emily about what you've been up to!"
Barrett's face changed slightly. "What are you going to do with her? She's not anyone to me, she can't control me."
Mia looked around at the people gathered, who all exchanged knowing smiles, full of teasing and gossip.
"I really have nothing to do with Emily. It's my dad who wants her to be my wife, not me!"
The group continued to laugh.
Barrett felt helpless. He decided to give up explaining; they would not listen anyway.
"Natalie, can I touch my... the baby?" Mia, now composed, cautiously approached Natalie, maintaining a respectful distance from Oliver.
Natalie's belly showed a slight curve, a subtle indication of her pregnancy.
Men might not show much interest in Natalie's pregnancy, but women are different. Whether they were thinking about having babies in the future or just curious about Natalie's figure, the women were visibly excited about Natalie's little baby bump.
Hearing Mia's request, they all chimed in enthusiastically, "Natalie, I want to touch it too, is that okay?"
