Chapter 353 You're Not Lucas's Real Sister
"Susan, don’t be so quick to sever ties with me," Hailey said as her smile grew wider, "I came to give you a chance."
"What chance?" Susan was about to hang up the phone but could not resist asking.
"I’m currently at the beach, and Natalie will be here soon. If you don’t come, Oliver will probably hold Natalie's death against you. If you come, the outcome of the story will still be unknown." Before Susan could get angry, Hailey added, "Oh, by the way, don’t tell anyone about me. Otherwise, people might suspect that you’re colluding with a murderer like me."
The underlying message was: [If you don’t come, I’ll frame you. If you dare expose me, I’ll frame you!]
"Hailey, what are you doing?!" Susan panicked.
However, the mechanical voice from the receiver informed her that Hailey had already ended the call.
Susan regretted helping Hailey get out of the prison.
In the silent night, every sound was amplified.
Hailey hid behind a giant boulder. When she heard the sounds of hurried footsteps and breathing, she peeked out and saw Natalie running toward her, searching in every direction.
"I’m here!" Upon hearing the voice, Natalie turned and saw a figure emerging from behind the boulder. It took her a while to recognize Hailey.
Hailey had changed a lot. She was thinner than before, and there was a hint of mania in her eyes.
"Now that I’m here, say whatever you want to say quickly. Someone might notice I’m not in my room and come looking for me,” Natalie said, looking unbothered. However, she remained vigilant, discreetly observing her surroundings. After making sure that Hailey had not brought any accomplices, only then did she relax.
"After not seeing each other for so long, shouldn't we catch up first?" Hailey asked, smiling.
‘Catch up? What’s there between us to catch up on?' Natalie thought.
"Hailey, if I were in your shoes, I would hide. Don’t come to me for no reason like a trapped beast,” she said icily.
Hailey looked into the distance and noticed a woman.
It was Susan.
With this, Hailey said directly, “Do you remember when Lucas was diagnosed with leukemia? You were the first to volunteer for bone marrow matching, but it was unsuccessful. Aren’t you curious about that?"
"What reason do I have to be curious about..." Natalie paused abruptly, her gaze sharpening as she asked, "Did you interfere with the results? Was I actually a match for Lucas?"
"Of course not." Hailey turned her head, her shoulder-length hair fluttering in the sea breeze. She faced Natalie and smiled, as though she found great satisfaction in the moment, as she said, “The truth is you’re not Lucas’ biological sister.”
“What… What did you say?” Natalie stood immobilized, questioning what she had heard.
"You’re not Lucas's biological sister. Isn’t it normal that the bone marrow wouldn’t match?" Hailey was greatly pleased by Natalie's reaction, and she said, “Lucas’ blood type is O, just like my father. What about you?”
Natalie's blood type was AB.
From a genetic perspective, if a child’s blood type was O, it implied both parents must share that blood type as well. It was genetically implausible for them to produce a child with an AB blood type.
Natalie felt her blood freezing in her veins. She felt cold as though she had been doused with a basin of icy water from head to toe, sending shivers down her spine.
