Chapter 260 Not Worthy To Be Compared With Natalie
A subordinate asked Roger, "Are we going to take action against Adrian this evening?"
Roger gazed out of the window at the scenery passing by and replied, "No, not yet."
Roger believed in striking a devastating blow when others thought they had fallen into an abyss. He wanted to show them the true terror was not the abyss but hell itself.
"Adrian, I’ll allow you to live a few more days!"
…
Natalie was aware of Oliver's financial capabilities and status. Despite his picky nature, he had a lot of properties suitable for temporary stays. However, she did not expect him to own a modest villa in the administrative district, a place he seldom visited.
The kitchen was stocked with ingredients. The kitchen staff was aware of Natalie’s arrival and had prepared the ingredients in advance.
After some contemplation, Natalie began to cook.
The dining area was outside the kitchen.
Oliver was seated at the dining table, observing Natalie in the kitchen. She was wearing an apron, working the dough. Her profile exuded gentleness and tranquility. He felt like time was standing still as he watched her.
"Sir, following the 'incident', Natalie asked Lucas to accompany Lilian. The two men who were presented in court today were apprehended by Lucas," Jamie conveyed in a subdued tone.
A significant number of events unfolded in court today.
Oliver pondered for a moment before asking, "Are you referring to those two men with bald patches on their heads?"
"Yes," Jamie replied, feeling somewhat sympathetic toward the two witnesses, "Their hair had been shaved by Lucas. When we apprehended the men, their faces had been doodled on, their clothes were in tatters, and they had only been given a minimal amount of water. When they saw me, it was as though they had seen their savior…”
Jamie could not suppress his laughter when he recalled that scene.
"How did Lucas contact you?" Oliver instantly sensed something amiss.
Jamie admired Oliver for his perceptiveness. He asked, “Do you recall an organization called ‘Well’?”
Oliver's memory was impeccable. "Aren’t they involved in weapon design?"
"Indeed. That organization specializes in creating weapons and selling the blueprints. They typically maintain a low profile. At that time when I was amassing evidence from various sources, someone from the organization reached out, claiming they had a witness willing to testify. Upon arriving at the designated location, I saw Lucas. It seems like he holds a high position in the organization."
Oliver nodded before asking, "What did Lucas say?"
"Ah..." Jamie asked, looking troubled, “Do you really want to hear it?”
Oliver knew that in Natalie’s absence, Lucas would not hesitate to disparage him.
"Lucas said you’re… useless. He criticized you for making Natalie look after your cousin. He also said that… you’re not a good husband, making Natalie scared and worried for nothing…”
In reality, Lucas had been harsher in his criticism. He had said, "I could find a thousand men like Oliver. Previously, I thought he was not bad. However, he has a foul temper and lacks gentleness and consideration. Why should my sister do so much for him? He’s not capable of taking care of my sister! To think he burdened my sister and made her take care of that foolish girl!”
Although Jamie did not convey Lucas’ exact words, Oliver knew that Lucas’ words were definitely far from being so mild. He watched the elegant figure in the kitchen with a mix of emotions in his eyes.
"Natalie was unaware of your plans, but she remained remarkably composed. If it had been any other woman, it would have been impressive if they could still stay calm, let alone consider Lilian like Natalie did…”
Even without Lucas's intervention, Lilian would not have faced danger. Oliver had already arranged for protection for Lilian. If those two men had managed to kidnap Lilian, as soon as they exited the apartment, they would have been dealt with by the bodyguards.
"Shut up," Oliver said coldly.
Jamie quickly lowered his head. "I'm sorry, I spoke out of turn."
Oliver thought to himself, ‘How could other women compare to Natalie?’
Shortly thereafter, Natalie emerged with a tray in hand. Upon it were three plates
"Let me help you!" Jamie's heart leaped when he saw Natalie carrying such a heavy load. Then, he asked, “Why did you prepare three servings?”
"One is for you. You must be famished as well," Natalie said.
As soon as Natalie finished speaking, Jamie felt the weight of an icy gaze directed at him. He recalled Issac lamenting about Oliver's protective nature over his wife and the food she made, highlighting Oliver’s dislike of others eating the food she made.
"Thank you, but I’m really not hungry!” Jamie hurriedly said, driven by a sense of self-preservation.
"What if you feel hungry later? When you go to the police station later, you won’t have time to eat,” Natalie reasoned as she placed a plate in front of Oliver, “Please eat. Don’t worry. The food is delicious!”
Jamie thought to himself in despair, ‘I know you food you made is delicious. However, I can’t eat it even if I’m hungry!’
Jamie found it difficult to refuse Natalie’s kindness, and he quickly looked at Oliver, seeking instructions.
"Take your food and leave!” Oliver said, growing impatient at Jamie’s prolonged presence.
"Thank you! I’ll enjoy my meal outside! The weather is really good today!” Jamie quickly excused himself, holding the plate of food.
"What’s this?" Oliver asked with a slight frown. He found it difficult to voice his displeasure to Natalie.
"They’re beef pancakes with tomatoes,” Natalie explained. She thought that Oliver must not have eaten such a thing before.
"What's this?" Oliver's face turned slightly sour, but he couldn't bring himself to scold Natalie.
“Aren’t they usually thinner?” Oliver asked skeptically.
“Winnie liked them when she was young,” Oliver replied, “She liked food like that when she was young…”
With a fork and knife, Oliver took a bite, and the savory essence of the meat permeated his mouth. It was delightful. He raised an eyebrow, surprised by how good it tasted.
Meanwhile, Natalie was focused on eating, oblivious to Oliver’s gaze on her.
