Chapter 1113 I Want to See Jovan

Anthony's fingers lightly tapped on the armrest of his seat, as if he were waiting for something.

Aurora suddenly remembered a crucial piece of information. "Mr. Clark, think about it. You were the ones who called me to the Clark Manor, and it was Jane who asked me to go to the second floor. If I wanted to harm Jane at this time, wouldn't it be too easy to expose myself? I wouldn't be that stupid. Think about it: I'm the passive one here, and Jane is the active one. So, it must be her who set me up!"

A bodyguard hurried in with a document.

Anthony took the lab report, glanced at it for a few seconds, and then harshly threw it in Aurora's face.

The sharp paper cut her cheek, and bright red blood beads seeped out.

The text on the lab report read: [Substance components: tetracycline, clarithromycin, aspirin...]

"Do you know what these are?" Anthony finally spoke to Aurora.

Aurora's pupils shrank sharply, and for a moment, her heartbeat almost stopped, her throat dry. "I don't know."

Anthony no longer wanted to speak to the malicious Aurora.

Clint saw Anthony's intention and spoke on his behalf. "Ms. Dewar, how could you not know? These are the components found in the calcium and vitamin tablets you sent."

Ann raised her eyes slowly, staggered forward a few steps, and snatched the lab report from Aurora's hand.

The components listed on the report were completely different from the results of the test she had done earlier.

Clint glanced at Ann and continued, "Mrs. Clark, these substances are highly forbidden for pregnant women."

"How is that possible?" Ann couldn't believe it. "I had them tested at the hospital when I first got them, and there was no problem!"

"You've really changed." Aurora looked coldly at Ann.

Ann now doubted and guarded against her for Jane's sake, but she once loved and favored her wholeheartedly!

"Mrs. Clark, I don't know if there was an issue with your test results, but the substances on this lab report were indeed found in the calcium and vitamin tablets Ms. Watkins is taking." Clint was aware his words were harsh, but he knew the reality was even more brutal for Jane.

"Mrs. Clark has hated Jane for a long time. Maybe Mrs. Clark herself switched the tablets." Aurora wore an expression of indifference, as if to say, "It's not my problem."

"Aurora!" Ann was devastated, her face unprecedentedly ugly. She almost jumped up from her seat to fight Aurora, but Sadie stopped her: "Mrs. Clark, calm down! It's not the time to be impulsive!"

Ann tightly grasped Sadie's hand, as if it could give her some support.

"Anthony, I didn't do it. You have to believe me. That's your son, my grandson. How could I?"

Clint, feeling compassionate, reassured Ann. "Mrs. Clark, rest assured, Mr. Clark does not suspect you."

Ann, with tears in her eyes, glared at Aurora. "Aurora, I have treated you well. Why would you do this to me? Why would you treat my grandson like this? You wouldn't even spare a small life!"

"Treated me well?" Aurora sneered. "If you really treated me well, why would you allow Jane into the Clark family? If you did, why didn't you let me into the main house of the Clark family before? Why would you have the vitamins and calcium tablets I gave tested? Ann, you're just self-righteous. You're selfish!"

"You! You!" Ann was so angry she could hardly breathe, "I've been blind all these years!"

Seeing her plot exposed, Aurora decided to lay it all out with Anthony, "Anthony, I admit to what I've done, but I won't admit to what I haven't done! If I had known in advance that Jane took the wrong medicine and wouldn't give birth to a healthy child, why would I push her down the stairs? Wouldn't it be more satisfying to let Jane give birth to a disabled and mentally challenged child?"

Ann couldn't bear it any longer and slapped Aurora. She scolded, "Evil woman!"

"I am an evil woman, but do you think I want to be one?" Aurora still didn't think she was wrong. "You forced me! I could have married the man I loved, but you schemed against me, forcing me to marry that scumbag, Hubert! You ruined my life. What's wrong with me ruining yours?"

A nurse knocked on the door and saw the people in the conference room, some crying, some with dark faces, the atmosphere oppressively tense. She spoke cautiously, "The patient is awake."

Anthony finally reacted, standing up immediately and saying to Clint, "Get the Hubert family and the Dewar family here."

"Anthony, I've said everything I need to. Do you still not believe that I didn't push Jane? I can go to the ward and confront Jane!" Aurora shouted loudly.

"Confront?" Anthony's face was full of disgust. "Do you think you're worthy?"

Jane, supported by the nurse, sat up and heard the door open. Anthony walked in with a stern face.

"Jane..."

Anthony was about to speak when Jane said, "The baby is gone, I know."

Jane's face was still very pale, and after the anesthesia, the wound throbbed with pain, with multiple abrasions on her elbows and hands.

She looked somewhat numb, like a beautiful doll that had lost its soul.

Anthony's pupils slightly contracted, and he said to the nurse, "You can leave now."

"Yes." The nurse left and closed the door.

"Are you in pain?" Anthony sat down beside Jane and asked gently.

Jane's clear eyes quietly looked at Anthony and said, "Anthony, I want to see Jovan."

"Okay." Anthony didn't hesitate.

Jane's earlier words were just a test, "After Jovan comes, I want to leave."

Leaving was her true intention.

"Jane, is there no room for negotiation?" Anthony's hands clenched into tight fists, the veins on the back of his hands bulging.

Jane didn't speak, but her indifferent and numb eyes told Anthony, "No."

There was no room for negotiation.

Jane looked particularly haggard, as if a gust of wind could blow her over.

A surge of inexplicable anger rose in Anthony's heart.

He couldn't help but laugh sarcastically, "To leave, you're willing to use your own body as a bargaining chip?"

Jane's eyes widened slightly in shock.

Then she quickly realized that her little trick was indeed not easy to fool Anthony. From the beginning, she had only harbored a fluke mentality.

"How did you know?" Jane asked.

"Aurora was called to the house by you, and it was you who asked her to go to the second floor." Anthony had already investigated the whole story. "Besides, Jane, even if you were pregnant, with your skills, ordinary individuals wouldn't be able to hurt you."

Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
