Chapter 244 I Didn't Murder Anyone

"Hailey, shut up! You have no right to speak here!" Natalie revealed a sharp side she had never shown before.

Hailey wasn't part of the Windsor family, and her position in the Watson family wasn't of significance, it seemed she indeed had no qualification to speak.

But... she was a witness!

"My Victoria! Victoria, how can I face your mother like this?" Henry stood beside Victoria's body, sobbing uncontrollably, tears streaming down his face.

Edwin supported Henry, hiding the glee in his eyes, and said, "Dad, please calm down. Don't go over there for now. If you accidentally disturb Victoria's body and destroy evidence, it won't be easy to bring the murderer to justice," Edwin reasoned.

"Victoria, my daughter!" Henry wailed, filled with grief, echoed throughout North Point.

"Mama, don't worry. I will make sure the person who harmed you gets what they deserve!" Adrian's eyes welled up with tears, his face pale and his hands trembling.

Lyra gently supported him, whispering, "Adrian, our son and I will always be by your side, and you still have your sister to take care of. Adrian, please take care of yourself."

The forensic team positioned themselves and began examining the body. A serious-looking police officer walked up the stairs and surveyed the scene before asking, "Didn't you say there's a witness? Who is the witness?"

"It's me!" Hailey immediately stepped forward.

"What's your name? Tell us what you know," one officer simply asked, while the other officer began taking notes.

Hailey glanced at Oliver and Natalie, her face filled with sorrow, and said, "My name is Hailey. I had some conflict with the Harrington family before, and no one came to talk to me at today's banquet. So, I wandered around casually and unexpectedly... unexpectedly, I saw Mr. Windsor strangling auntie and throwing her down the stairs!"

Natalie gasped, wide-eyed with shock, her gaze shifting from Hailey to Oliver beside her.

Oliver lazily stood in place, his mask hiding his features, with only a pair of light brown phoenix eyes exposed, appearing indifferent and detached as if nothing concerned him.

"Oliver, do you have anything to say?" The police already knew Oliver's name.

As the officer approached Oliver, Natalie stood in front of him and said, "You can't just arrest someone based on Hailey's one-sided words!"

Oliver unexpectedly lowered his gaze, but a playful and warm expression appeared in his eyes.

This woman was trying to shield him like she would protect a little chick, despite being the weak one herself.

"Who said we're convicting anyone? We just want the suspect to cooperate with the investigation," the officer asked displeased, "And who are you?"

"She is Mr. Windsor's wife," Hailey said, her eyes filled with a cold smile.

Oliver's wife, a position that was supposed to belong to her. Since Natalie took it away and Oliver wasn't willing to give it to her, she wanted to let Natalie enjoy this position to the fullest!

"My husband would never do such a thing!" Natalie said.

Oliver felt surprised once again. It was the first time he heard the words "my husband" from Natalie's mouth.

It sounded extremely pleasant!

"A spouse can be a witness. Do you have any evidence to prove that he is not a suspect?" the officer said in an official manner.

"I..." Natalie started to speak but stopped.

When she woke up, Oliver had already left her side. She couldn't provide an alibi for him, plus Oliver's room was in a central location. There must have been servants who saw him coming and going.

Most importantly, there were surveillance cameras at the door of Oliver's room, which could serve as irrefutable evidence of him leaving the room!

If she claimed to be with Oliver at that moment, she might be included in the investigation for perjury, which would do more harm than good.

"You don't have any evidence at all, Natalie. You're just lying," Hailey laughed.

"Oliver, say something, I don't believe you would do this!" Natalie pleaded with Oliver, tugging at his clothes in a low voice.

From her understanding of Oliver, he wouldn't have strangled Victoria if he wanted her dead because it would dirty his hands! He wouldn't have used this method to kill Victoria either.

If he wanted someone dead, he would have chosen a clean and efficient method such as shooting.

Throwing down the stairs, the outcome would be uncertain!

"I didn't kill her," the accused Oliver finally spoke up.

The others waited, but he didn't say anything further, as if he was only appeasing Natalie.

"Do you have any alibi?" the officer had to ask.

"No," Oliver shrugged.

Natalie was angry and anxious. Oliver was accused of murder, why was he so calm? Wouldn't saying a few more words help alleviate his situation?

He didn't kill anyone, he was wrongly accused. It was indeed possible for Oliver, who was calm and composed, to remain unperturbed.

But...

There was now this "witness," Hailey, and Victoria died at Henry's banquet. So many people knew about it. If Oliver were to be framed successfully, he wouldn't be able to escape the legal punishment, even if he was the CEO of the RK Group!

"The preliminary determination is that the cause of death was due to the impact on the head, leading to instant death. The strangulation marks on her neck were not fatal injuries and were likely inflicted by a young man."

After the forensic pathologist finished speaking, the people from the police drew a line and took Victoria's body away.

"Victoria!" Henry cried as he chased after Victoria's body.

"Dad, you have to stay and let the police find the real culprit!" Edwin pulled Henry, persuading him not to leave.

If such an influential figure like Henry leaves, how can this show go on?

"Mummy..." Adrian called out in sorrow, then glared at Oliver with hatred and suddenly said, "I know Oliver's motive for murder!"

Natalie held Oliver's hand, feeling a bad premonition.

Everyone's attention was fully focused on these so-called witnesses, completely unaware of the amusement and sly glint in Oliver's eyes.

He didn't appear as though he was about to succumb to a despairing trap; instead, he resembled a predator about to close in on his prey.

The people and the circumstance before his eyes were all within his expectations!

The only thing Oliver didn't expect was Natalie suddenly waking up, finding her way to the scene, and bravely standing beside him, tightly holding his hand.

Adrian took a deep breath and finally decided to reveal, "My mom hired two people to kill Oliver, but Oliver was prepared while those two people failed. Oliver must hold a grudge and that's why he killed my mom!"

Natalie swiftly recollected and soon recalled the two individuals who entered through the window during the Top Avenue competition.
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
