Chapter498
"I’m not sure, but it’ll be at least a week," Mr. Liam replied, "By the way, Madam Windsor will be returning soon. If Oliver’s not around…”
It was clear that Liam wanted to ask Natalie to pick up Marjorie from the airport. However, she said apologetically, “I’m sorry. I don’t think I’ll have the time.”
Liam simply nodded and cast brief, inquisitive looks toward Natalie.
Natalie sat silently in front of her computer for an uninterrupted hour. The words, Divorce Agreement, were displayed in bold letters on the screen.
She sighed deeply. She had planned to bid farewell to Oliver face-to-face, but, as fate would have it, he was overseas during such a pivotal moment.
Her luggage was not very big, and she packed them very quickly before she returned to her desk to grab a pen and paper.
After changing her clothes, she draped an oversized bag over her shoulders.
"Are you going out?" Liam asked, stunned.
"Yes," she confirmed with a nod.
"Where are you going? I’ll tell the driver to send you.”
“It’s alright. Someone from the company is picking me up.”
“Oh, you’re going out for work-related matters?” Liam said, looking relieved. Then, he reminded, “Although the doctor said you’ve healed, you shouldn’t take chances with your health!"
"Thank you, Liam."
Liam had been the first person in Rosewood Estate to extend a feeling of warmth to Natalie.
"There’s no need to thank me, don’t bother with such formalities!" Liam said with a laugh.
"Bye, Liam. Please take care of yourself!”
…
Emily Reed was already waiting by the grand gates of the estate in a sleek Pagani.
Natalie got into the car, her right leg still in a cast, but she could now support her weight. She left the wheelchair behind at Rosewood Estate, and Emily had considerately brought a pair of crutches.
"Did Oliver allow you to go out in this condition?" Emily asked with concern as she noticed Natalie's leg.
After securing her seatbelt, Natalie took a moment before responding, "He’s abroad on business. My leg is much better; I just haven’t had the opportunity to have the cast removed."
“Oh, I see,” Emily replied before she continued, “However, a few more days of rest wouldn’t hurt. So, what’s the plan? Are we just cruising around, or did you want to discuss business?"
"Can you take me to Maple Villa?" Natalie's home was located there.
With a patient who had just recovered on board, Emily drove at a cautious pace.
Natalie's gaze remained outside the window, observing the familiar scenes of Rosewood Estate fading into the distance as they merged onto the main road. She pondered whether this might be her last opportunity to absorb it all.
Suddenly, she said, "Emily, I’ve divorced Oliver."
"What?! You did what?!"
Screech!
The harsh sound of the tires grinding against the pavement marked an abrupt halt.
Emily pulled the car over to the side of the road, wondering if she had heard correctly. "Natalie, what did you say?"
"I’m divorced," Natalie said, looking at her leg, “Emily, I might need to ask you to assist me in arranging some rehabilitation sessions in a few days."
The thought of rehabilitation sessions was the least of Emily's worries at the moment. "Did Oliver agree to it?"
"Why wouldn’t he agree?” Natalie asked, confused by Emily’s question.
"Natalie, Oliver loves you deeply. How could he let you go so easily?”
