Chapter 821 Oliver, You've Been Exposed

Natalie thought to herself, 'Don't bother arguing with a lunatic!'

"Aren't you curious why I came to the Rosewood Estate?" Samuel initiated, taking a seat.

"Isn't it because of Susan?" Natalie could not see any other connection between them.

"It's not about her." Samuel wore a meaningful expression on his face. However, he did not say anything. He knew revealing the truth about the Hastings family to Natalie, given her dislike, would be like a thunderbolt.

"Okay," Natalie said, uninterested.

"Why do you seem so unhappy? It's not good for your child," Samuel remarked.

"Should I be happy?" Natalie's tone was flat.

"Then let me analyze why you're unhappy," Samuel continued.

Natalie turned away.

"Hey!" Samuel called out, frustrated. He said, guessing,"You're upset because Oliver didn't tell you about the pregnancy, or is it because he made you pregnant?"

Natalie glanced at him, surprised. He was right.

"Although I don't like Oliver much, Natalie, he didn't force you into bed. Having sex carries the risk of pregnancy, and it's not solely his responsibility," Samuel said.

Natalie glared at him. "You're defending a scoundrel!"

Samuel was momentarily speechless, wondering when his sister became so unreasonable?

"Let me propose another scenario. Regarding Oliver's silence about the pregnancy, he might have his own reason. Maybe he was afraid you'd consider an abortion," Samuel said, trying to console Natalie.

"I have the right to choose. Even if he's worried I'll terminate the pregnancy, does that justify his silence?" Natalie said as she continued glaring at him, "You're all the same kind of people!"

Samuel fell silent once more. He thought to himself, 'Being a good brother is really tough!'

At this time, Oliver emerged from the main building and saw Natalie looking at Samuel disdainfully. He felt relieved and, using 'my wife seems to dislike you' as an excuse, he promptly sent Samuel away from the Rosewood Estate.

Samuel swore that if he ever helped Oliver again, he would be a fool!

The autumn night seemed exceptionally cheerful.

Oliver returned to the main building in the evening to handle urgent work. Before he entered the master bedroom, he noticed a chair on the balcony, where a slender woman sat, lost in thought. It was the same chair Lilian had bought, originally placed in the room but was moved outside today. When he opened the door, the woman on the balcony did not react.

"What are you thinking about?" Oliver held Natalie's body to prevent her from falling.

Natalie was startled, her shoulders tensed. She replied, "Nothing."

Oliver knelt on one knee, held her hands, and asked again, "What serious matter are you thinking about, Natalie?"

Natalie gazed at Oliver. She had not taken Samuel's words seriously, but now, in the evening, she felt more emotional. She suddenly thought of what Samuel had said about Oliver having his own reason for hiding the pregnancy from her.

"I'm thinking about what secrets you have that made you argue with me, give me the silent treatment, make me pregnant, and ensure I wouldn't abort the baby," Natalie said. It was actually quite simple to make Natalie keep the baby. Those who knew her understood that once the baby was formed, she would find it difficult to consider an abortion. Moreover, with the advanced stage of pregnancy, her family and friends would all persuade her to keep the child for the sake of her health.

Oliver's reaction was calm.

Natalie said, "Oliver, you've been exposed."

He raised an eyebrow. The taciturn man liked to use subtle facial expressions to convey words like, 'go on', 'why', or ' how clever', and Natalie always understood his intentions accurately. At this moment, he was asking, 'What do you mean?'

'He's still pretending!'

"Your reaction just now was too calm," Natalie said with a chuckle, that contained a hint of satisfaction.

She sat in the chair, and Oliver, half-kneeling on the ground, was slightly shorter than her. She looked down at him, gently tracing his eyebrows with her fingertips, and said, "Oliver, you're usually relaxed in front of me. When I mentioned your secrets, you should’ve raised your eyebrow to ask me why I'd said that."

Oliver felt a little helpless for a moment. If she had not mentioned it, he really would not have noticed. He had mastered his emotions since his youth, and regardless of the situation or the truth, he could handle it calmly. But he forgot that his indifference did not work with Natalie. His wife had always been astute. He knew it would be difficult to deceive her.

Oliver said, "Then guess what's my secret."

"Susan is a bone-marrow match for Lucas…"

Before Natalie finished speaking, she saw Oliver's expression turned unsightly.

"I guessed right."

"How did you know? Who told you?"

Oliver's expression turned icy as several faces flashed through his mind, trying to figure out who was most likely to leak this information. The number of people who knew that Susan's bone marrow was a match for Lucas was small. His very loyal assistants, Collin and Jamie, as well as Rosy, who found out due to her work, had been told to keep this a secret. These people were not likely to tell Natalie. That left only one person.

"Samuel?"

Natalie felt that if she nodded, the eldest son of the Hastings family would soon be in trouble. Even if he did not end up in jail, he would not have it easy.

"It's not him, it's Helen."

Oliver almost forgot about the woman he had forced to leave the country. If it was Helen, it was very likely that Susan had instructed her to do it.

"It seems like I was right," Natalie said confidently. She asked, "Oliver, why didn't you tell me directly? What are you worried about?"

Oliver looked up at Natalie, remaining silent. He could admit his cowardice in front of Samuel to gain his ally's trust, but not in front of Natalie. His pride would not allow him to admit that her love for him could not compete with Lucas's health. In the eyes of most people, there was indeed no comparison.

"You don't want to say? Forget it then."
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
