Chapter 346 Then Will You Come Home With Me?
Oliver was deliberately distorting Natalie's words!
Natalie's heart trembled slightly, and she felt a warmth in her heart.
Jane stared at Natalie with wide eyes as though she was saying, ‘Is he being real?’
Natalie licked her lips and held Oliver’s hand as she said, “Can you please stop eating?”
Oliver continued to eat gracefully.
He turned his head and asked Natalie, "Go home with me."
"No..." Before Natalie finished her words, Oliver resumed eating, as if he were in a race against time.
Jane took a sip of her wine, her eyebrows raising slightly.
She thought to herself, ’Oliver actually has this side, practically begging his wife to go home.'
Silently observing Oliver, Natalie found herself caught in a tug-of-war between two opposing thoughts. One told her to stop Oliver right away because he did not seem to enjoy the food. The other told her not to succumb to Oliver's persuasions.
"Jane!" At this moment, a commanding voice rang in the air, and a tall figure walked over with long strides.
Natalie noticed Jane, who was seated opposite her, gripping her beer and stiffening, resembling a primary school student discovered copying a classmate's homework by the teacher.
Anthony approached with a cold expression on his face and swiftly took the glass from Jane's hands before placing it forcefully on the table, causing the beer to splash out.
Oliver reacted promptly, pulling Natalie into his arms to protect her from the spill.
"I’ve only been away for a short while, but here you are, drinking,” Anthony said, touching the glass and noting the coldness of the cheap plastic. "An ice-cold beer?"
Jane had dysmenorrhea, and she would have painful cramps during the time of the month. However, she had a liking for cold drinks, which did not help with her condition. Natalie recalled how Anthony, when he was still Jane’s bodyguard, had stopped Jane from eating ice cream on hot days on several occasions, only allowing Jane to have them once a week. During those rare occasions, Jane would always insist on a bucket of Haagen-Dazs.
"Jane, you... and him..." Natalie pointed back and forth between Jane and Anthony, her expression one of astonishment.
Jane smiled at Natalie and said, “I forgot to tell you. We made up temporarily.”
"Temporarily?" Anthony pulled Jane to her feet; his expression clearly expressed his displeasure at her choice of words.
Jane straightened herself and retorted, "What do you mean by you’ve only been away for a short while? You were gone much longer than that? Moreover, you just came back, but you came to find fault with me immediately. What’s with that?”
Anthony firmly held Jane's waist and asked, "Don’t change the topic. What do you mean by temporarily?”
Anthony really hated that word.
"Natalie, we’re done with our meal. Let’s go home." Oliver, who had remained quiet until now, interjected. He attempted to clean his hands with a piece of tissue paper, though it was hardly effective.
Natalie had been so engrossed in the exchange between Jane and Anthony that she had not noticed Oliver's protective actions during the commotion, shielding her from the beer splashes, until now.
Oliver had finished eating, and now he wanted to leave as soon as he could.
Natalie found herself speechless, struggling to articulate her thoughts. She had not anticipated Oliver's protective gesture.
It appeared that it was time for everyone to part ways: Oliver suggested they head back, while Anthony was preoccupied with ‘lecturing’ Jane.
Ultimately, Natalie gestured toward Jane with her phone, indicating that Jane should call her later.
Oliver's expression was one of displeasure. Upon entering the car, he immediately removed his jacket, which now bore the scent of barbecue, with a look of distaste and cleaned his hands with a wet towel.
