Chapter 1148 Ignorance is Bliss

Seeing the off-road vehicle and two business cars return, the studio staff almost cried tears of joy.

Anthony didn't get out of the car; Clint made the transportation arrangements for the staff.

Clint said, "There are people in the two cars behind us. Everyone, see how you can spread out. The last car has more empty seats which can hold your equipment."

After arranging for the staff, Clint smiled at Jane and said, "Ms. Watkins, you can ride with Mr. Clark. Please, up front!"

"I'd rather sit with my staff." Jane didn't want to ride with Anthony.

Clint was prepared for this, so he said, "But there are no empty seats in the back, and your equipment is both numerous and expensive; it must be properly handled."

Seeing Jane's skeptical expression, Clint continued, "And this business minibus is much less comfortable than the off-road vehicle. You shouldn't inconvenience yourself. Just pretend Mr. Clark isn't there."

Jane checked the business car and indeed found no suitable empty seats. Anthony's off-road vehicle was her only option.

Clint opened the car door for Jane.

In the back seat, Anthony was resting with his eyes closed. Hearing the noise, he opened his eyes.

Clint continued his act. "Mr. Clark, there's no room in the back. Ms. Watkins will ride with you. Is that okay?"

Anthony didn't speak and closed his eyes again.

This was a tacit agreement.

Jane pouted. 'Anthony is still so arrogant! He has no sense of chivalry or manners!'

Everyone set off.

The off-road vehicle had plenty of space, but it was still an enclosed area. The vehicle's soundproofing was so good that Jane could only hear Anthony's breathing beside her.

Jane felt a bit uneasy, and the air was filled with an awkward atmosphere.

No, to be precise, the only one feeling awkward was Jane.

Anthony seemed quite calm.

Wasn't it just a while ago that Anthony had secretly taken her home, and now he was pretending not to know her?

"Mr. Clark, thank you for today," Jane said after a while.

Regardless of Anthony's attitude, she had to maintain her manners and attitude.

Anthony glanced at Jane but didn't speak.

But Jane read Anthony's unspoken words from his expression and attitude, "That's all you have to say?"

Given their current relationship, Jane couldn't exactly invite him to dinner. She thought about giving Anthony a proper gift later.

"Ms. Watkins, what brings you here?" Clint, seeing Anthony not speaking, hurriedly found a topic himself.

"There's a filming project here," Jane briefly mentioned in the documentary. Although there was no confidentiality agreement, it wasn't appropriate to discuss the work in detail.

"That sounds quite tiring," Clint responded.

Jane then realized something was off. How coincidental that Anthony and his team were also here?

The desert area was sparsely populated, and apart from tourists, people from big cities rarely came here.

"Mr. Clark is working on a project here," Clint lied without hesitation.

Jane nodded and didn't ask much about Anthony's work.

She subconsciously glanced at Anthony. He had his arms crossed and was leaning back in his seat, seemingly asleep.

He never mentioned the night she got drunk.

Jane couldn't figure out what his intentions were.

Jane tended to get sleepy in the car. With more than four hours to the city, she soon started to doze off and eventually fell asleep, leaning against the seat.

When Jane's breathing became steady and soft, Anthony opened his eyes.

No trace of sleepiness could be seen in his eyes.

Clint glanced back through the rearview mirror and saw Anthony staring intently at Jane, his eyes unblinking, as if he wanted to devour her.

The more indifferent he had been in front of Jane, the more obsessed he seemed now.

Others might not know, but Clint, who often followed Anthony, knew very well that Anthony would never give up on Jane, whether it was years ago or now.

Sometimes, Clint thought that if Anthony were merely a friend to Jane, he'd pity her for having an obsessive and stubborn pursuer like Anthony.

Anthony bent down, adjusted the air conditioning to a higher temperature, and lowered the sunshade on the window.

Meanwhile, the studio staff group chat was buzzing.

[This business car has bulletproof glass! I saw the bulletproof mark! Could the boss be involved in something illegal?]

Lester, who knew the truth, said: [Not illegal, just a wealthy person who values safety.]

[Makes sense. Rich people are in danger these days, easily targeted by criminals.]

[I looked it up. This seemingly ordinary car is worth $500,000. All the seats are genuine leather. No wonder it feels so comfortable!]

[Wow! This is my first time sitting in a $500,000 car. I feel like I'm sitting on a pile of money.]

[Tell me about it; it's amazing!]

[We have a doctor on this car who checked on Mira Campbell. She has a fever. That's great!]

[So lucky; there is a doctor too!]

[There are a few men in this car, tall and strong, sitting upright, looking like bodyguards from a TV show!]

[So exciting!]

[I wonder how Jane is doing.]

[Jane loves to sleep in the car. She must be asleep by now.]

[The boss of this convoy is in that car. Jane is so beautiful. Will she be harassed?]

[Probably not. Jane is good at fighting.]

[If it's a handsome guy, maybe she could consider it. After all, a meeting is fate, and Jane is single.]

[Many handsome guys pursue Jane. The one in the car still needs to be evaluated.]

The studio staff chatted enthusiastically, but only Lester was silently anxious.

The person in that car was indeed a high-quality, handsome guy, but that guy was Anthony!

Anthony's mind was all about Jane!

Lester looked at the chat history and could only sigh in his heart. 'Ignorance is bliss!'
Married to an Ugly Husband? No!
