Chapter 469
Oliver was baffled. Why was it that after one evening of indulging in a few drinks, everyone around him started speaking in riddles?
"A staff member mentioned that she found a lipstick stain on the collar of your shirt,” Liam explained.
Oliver’s eyes narrowed immediately, and his mind raced through the events of the previous night, abruptly stopping at the image of Susan’s face.
‘Lipstick stain, ring… She’s the only one who could have left the mark!’
At this moment, the maid wheeled Natalie over.
Oliver studied her, wondering if she had seen the lipstick mark last night? If so, why did she not ask about it?
"Pack for a two-day trip for the two of us," Oliver instructed a servant. Then, he called Jamie, saying, “Prep the private plane. We’re going to Tycoon City today.”
Jamie was speechless. "We need to request flight clearance at least a day and a half in advance."
This trip clearly was not for business, otherwise, Oliver would not have forgotten that they could not just leave on a whim.
"Then, book the entire first-class cabin. Make sure the pilot is experienced.”
"Yes, sir."
It was rare for Oliver to make special requests for a pilot. It must have been for Natalie’s sake.
"Why are we going to Tycoon City?" Natalie was not interested, let alone fond of the place. Neither the city nor its people had ever left her with any fond memories.
"To let off some steam," Oliver replied.
…
For privacy, Oliver booked the entire first-class cabin. Apart from the couple, there was only Jamie and the family doctor.
It was clear Natalie did not like being in this place, so Oliver did not waste time and led the group to the Hastings family home immediately.
"Sir, should I notify the Hastings family first?” Jamie asked.
"No need."
The Hastings' residence was a stately, triple-gated mansion.
The guards did not dare to act presumptuously toward Oliver and Natalie, who were dressed impeccably and carried an unmistakable aura of elegance. After verifying their identities, someone notified the family of their arrival.
Shortly after, the housekeeper appeared and said apologetically, "Mr. and Mrs. Windsor, I’m terribly sorry, but the old sir isn’t home. Perhaps you could return another time?”
Natalie had only visited the Hastings’ residence twice but could tell they were incredibly particular about their household formalities.
"Ask again," Oliver insisted, unwilling to take no for an answer.
"Mr. Windsor, I just said the old sir isn’t around. You’re putting me in a difficult spot,” the housekeeper said, looking troubled. Then, he caught sight of Natalie. Thinking that she would be more reasonable, he asked, “Don’t you agree, Mrs. Windsor?”
Indeed, Oliver’s actions were awkward and unreasonable. Whether the owner of the house was really absent or not, it was obvious that they were not welcome. Unfortunately, the housekeeper was working for the Hastings family.
As such, Natalie only looked at the housekeeper with a mocking expression before she looked away dismissively.
"If we can’t meet now, then I guess we’ll have to meet each other in court,” Oliver said as his fingers gently tapped on the armrest of the wheelchair.
Seeing how determined Oliver was, the housekeeper could only retreat, breaking out in a cold sweat.
When the housekeeper returned again, the grand doors were opened, and someone came to lead Oliver and Natalie to the grand hall.
Helen sat at the head of the table. She wore a sour expression on her face, looking arrogant as she was flanked by several well-dressed servants.
