Chapter 816 The Unsent Diamond Ring
The Unsent Diamond Ring
"Natalie, although I don't like you and I want the prestige of being Mrs. Windsor, I didn't mean to harm you. Can you forgive me, please?" Nora pleaded, looking at Natalie with tearful eyes. She looked truly pitiful at this moment.
Currently, a simple forgiveness from Natalie could not change the doomed fate of Nora's family at the hands of Isaiah.
"I refuse."
Unlike her usual gentleness, Natalie's eyes were clear and icy as she looked at Nora and said, "Nora, I appreciate your apology, but everyone must face the consequences of their actions. Your apology can't undo the injuries, the suffering, and the pain my assistant endured. You might not have meant to harm me, but if you hadn’t pushed me, things would not have escalated to this point."
Nora seemed to have been struck hard. She stumbled back a step, her complexion becoming even worse.
"Natalie, I'm really sorry."
"Go back. Our flight is about to depart."
Natalie did not say much and looked at Casey in the wheelchair. She still looked stunned and moved, as if she had not expected Natalie to stand up for her like this.
Oliver understood Natalie's intention and wrapped an arm around her while supporting her with his other hand. As the duo walked ahead, the others followed closely behind, passing through the VIP passage.
Nora remained in the same spot, still struggling from the blow, her eyes lifeless as she watched Natalie disappear.
"Miss."
Suddenly, a person stood in front of her.
Nora snapped back to reality upon hearing the words and recognized Oliver's employee who had been with him for many years, Jamie. It seemed that Jamie had a good relationship with Natalie as well.
Nora looked at him wordlessly, her eyes questioning what he wanted. She did not feel like saying anything now, feeling completely defeated.
"Do you think that Mrs. Windsor didn't forgive you because she felt you weren't sincere enough?" Jamie asked.
Nora's eyes flickered, which confirmed Jamie's guess.
Jamie said, "Miss Nora, if Mrs. Windsor had not sensed your sincerity, she wouldn't even listened to you. She may appear gentle and easygoing, but when she gets angry, nobody can do anything about her. Otherwise, how do you think she ended up filing for divorce from Mr. Windsor last year?"
"Natalie was the one who filed for divorce?"
Nora was in disbelief. In the eyes of so many people, being able to marry Oliver was like being blessed by lady luck, but Natalie actually took the initiative to file for divorce?
"Yes."
Jamie glanced at the time. It was getting closer to the time for the flight to depart. He said, "You still don't understand Mrs. Windsor. She values the people around her. If you had only hurt her, maybe there would be a chance for a turnaround, but since you hurt her assistant, she wouldn't forgive you on behalf of her assistant."
"She's just an assistant, right? Her assistant doesn't hold as much weight as someone like you."
Nora could not understand why Natalie would protect her assistant to this extent. Natalie's assistant was just an ordinary employee, unlike Jamie, a high-profile figure on Oliver's side, who could easily become a CEO of a subsidiary company.
"Nora, you still don't understand," Jamie shook his head, saying, "I have driven Mr. Windsor home before, and when Mrs. Windsor saw me, she would cook an extra bowl of noodles for me. To be honest, the benefits of being friends with Mrs. Windsor outweigh being enemies with her by a thousandfold. I have said what I wanted to say. I don't think we'll be meeting again."
'Did Jamie get to have a share when Natalie personally cooked?'
Nora still did not quite understand what Jamie wanted to say, but she vaguely understood the implications of his last few words. Although she knew Jamie was manipulating her, in this moment, she knowingly fell for it.
"Jamie!" Nora called out to him before she said, "When the stage was being set up, I saw a Yuuisian woman acting suspiciously near the broken staircase!"
Jamie still had his back to Nora and did not try to hide the smirk on his face. He made an 'OK' gesture to the person behind him and quickly entered the security checkpoint. As for what Nora wanted to say or ask next, it no longer mattered.
He had said so much earlier not because he wanted Nora to befriend Natalie. How could someone so foolish and petty befriend Natalie?
…
The private plane today was very large. It had three bedrooms, along with a lounge, a bar, and bathrooms.
The injured Casey had her own bedroom, while Natalie and Oliver used the largest bedroom. The remaining bedroom was given to Lilian, but she could not stay still. She spent almost the entire flight chatting with Lucas or playing games online.
"Sir, Nora said there was a suspicious Yuuisian woman loitering around the runway," Jamie informed Oliver as the plane stabilized in the air.
Oliver had not paid attention to the setup of the runway. That day, he was focused on his newly custom-made engagement ring, so he looked at Natalie and asked if she had any idea who the suspicious woman might be.
"I'm not sure either. Although there weren't many Yuuisian faces at the scene, they weren't a small number either," Natalie replied.
The finale of Supermodel always caused quite a stir and almost everyone in the business circle worldwide would attend if they could get tickets.
However, a face did emerge in Natalie's mind.
'Sharon.'
Sharon harbored animosity toward her, and she was like a snake. It was plausible that she could be behind this matter. However, on the day of the finale, Natalie had not seen Sharon, and she could not even be sure if Sharon was still at the Moon Hotel. What if Sharon was not the one responsible? Knowing Oliver's personality, as soon as she mentioned this name, he would never let that person off easily, especially given her current condition.
Natalie did not feel well mentally after becoming pregnant, so she went back to her room to rest after exchanging a few words with Casey.
Meanwhile, Oliver was outside dealing with several urgent documents.
Jamie leaned in and whispered to Oliver, "Sir, the setup for the proposal in the country..."
Although legally they were husband and wife, many people outside did not know that. Although he had proposed to Natalie privately, the absence of the ring meant it did not count.
Originally, Oliver had promised that he would give Natalie everything that others had, including another proposal. Unfortunately, it might not be achievable now.
"Never mind," Oliver said icily.
He subconsciously touched his pocket, where a brand-new engagement ring was kept. He had originally intended to present it to Natalie upon their return to the country. In recent days, he had been keeping the ring close to him, and with the thin summer clothes, it made him feel uncomfortable.
He had prepared three engagement rings.
The first one was thrown away by her.
The second one had not been made yet when she disappeared.
Now, the third one had been with him for seven days, but he still had not given it out.
